Being part of the expansion to 14 teams. Going to 12 teams didn't disrupt the conference much and adds a tangible benefit for fans: the football conference championship game. There were some football scheduling issues, but that had more to do with goofy divisions priorizing an UM/OSU championship game over sane geographic rivalries. And basketball had two more single plays, but teams still had home-and-homes with the majority of the conference.
Going to 14 teams didn't add anything tangible for fans like the championship game, just the promise of future improvement due to increased revenue. In them mean time, now the football schedule will miss teams from the other division more often then they play them, and the basketball schedule has more single-plays than home-and-homes.
- The team they brought along with them was Rutgers.

Ack, you locked out my edit. But that's not what I was talking about. It was actually during the first Hoke spring practices, and here is the post I was talking about. Here is the best picture, I don't see why anyone would have a problem with this being the road uniform:
EDIT: Going through the whole album, found a couple more decent looks:

Back during the Rodriguez years there were some practice shots of the team trying out new white pants with the uniforms and I thought they looked.... pretty good. I'd never mess with the home uniform, but I thought they'd work well for the road uniforms. Now off to Google the archives, I'll post the pics if I can find them.

I think this image pretty much sums up my dislike for the split M - it screams "Circa 1984" to me. I know being a Michigan fan means being a stodgy traditionalists, but it's not like we've haven't changed logos before, and the block M doesn't look like it's stuck at an arbitrary point in history.

There are a lot of annoying things about the internet, but my personal pet peeve is the need to shame anyone who likes something besides the 5 movies/TV shows/beers/restaurants Twitter has decided don't suck. Just, why?
PS: Brian, does this mean you've been on the internet for all these years and had no idea where this meme comes from?
PPS: A Royal Red Robin Burger is delicious. COME AT ME!

Has there been anything on away tickets? I've been considering a trip to the Utah game and have been scanning for any information about that, but I might have missed it. IIRC they've had offers in the past, have I missed any this year?

If Maryland was the 12th team added to the B1G, I think they would have had a much warmer reception. Two factors worked against them:

At least you live on the east coast. For those of us in the western half of the country the game is going to be going on during prime trick-or-treating time.

WolverineHistorian is great when it's the offseason and you're in the mood for some football and want to relive some great moments. I think the game I've re-watched to most is the 1997 Penn St. game, because there's nothing quite like going to a top-ranked oppenennt's stadium and completely dominating.

I thikn this right here sums up all the problems with the Big Ten right now, and a sign that the Dave Brandons of the world are prevalent everywhere. Why do something good for fans when atheltic departments that are already swimming in money can make some additional revenue off of non-fans?

|9 weeks 6 days ago||Yeah, Ed Feng (Power Rank!||
Yeah, Ed Feng (Power Rank! MGoBlog Roundtable!) had an article up on Grantland today proposing a similar theory for winning your bracket pool. If you're in a 100-person pool and pick Kentucky to win you're going to have a hard time winning the pool even if Kentucky ends up winning. But if you go with a field team and they end up winning you're almost certainly getting some money.

If Harbaugh was firmly entrenched in the Fort Schembechler mentality he wouldn't have a steady stream of people coming in to watch practices. Isn't the rule that the probably of a secret getting out goes up by the square of the number of people who know, or something like that?
|10 weeks 2 days ago||IIRC OSU was against it too,||
IIRC OSU was against it too, so 4 of 6 were for it. But the two that were against it are the two that play hockey in multi-purpose arenas than can be used for other events if they are empty. They didn't want to keep two weekends empty when there is approximately a 50/50 chance it isn't used for either. Apparently this was enough to make everyone pick the current format.

OK, so I'm going to be That Guy. Is Hatch expected to occupy one of the 13 roster spots for 4 years?
|11 weeks 5 days ago||Just curious, why is||
Just curious, why is Minnesota to sweep a HUGE deal for Michigan? Also a bit curious about the MSU sweep, although I guess it's more oriented to how RPI/Pariwise work in general. While an MSU sweep would help for next weekend, wouldn't any RPI losses if MSU fails to sweep be offset by the RPI gains due to our wins over Wisconsin?
PS Write offline and save, then paste into the browser when you're done. IIRC there might even be a way to connect blogging software directly to MGoBlog so you can save drafts and post them automatically when you are done.

Any clue if this one really doesn't have the New Era logo on the side? The preview doesn't show one, the M-Den preview does, but they are both New Era 59fifty hats. It would be nice to have one without the logo.
|13 weeks 9 hours ago||This differs with the way I||
This differs with the way I remember it - I thought the parents moved in the 03-04 season. I had student tickets in section 17 for 02-03 (right on the aisle next to section 18) and remember a big fist fight between (IIRC) Ferris St. parents and some students in the top half of section 18. The next season (03-04) the opponent parents were on the other side of the arena, and I was in section 18 behind some random non-student Michigan fans between the students and the opponents' bench.
I might be off on some of the details there, but 03-04 was my last year with season tickets and I remember at least one season of the parents being moved.
|13 weeks 5 days ago||I don't think there's much||
I don't think there's much disecting to do for the Brady Hoke tenure - he was a poor head coach who lost way to many games. This was plain for anyone to see, and only rare Michigan Man true believers were disputing his firing. I think this post is more for the Dakich's of the world who were contending that there were no complaints with the athletic department or Dave Brandon if the football team was winning more games.
|13 weeks 5 days ago||The target demographic was||
The target demographic was stated many times: the family of four from Grand Rapids that only goes to one game per year. These families are frequently going to minor league baseball games, so they thought if they made Michigan games more like minor league baseball games they would draw all the casual fans from around the state.
Of course they forgot the main reason these families go to minor league baseball games is because they are relatively cheap while Brandon was charging through the roof for Michigan tickets. Or that minor league baseball games don't feature hours of traffic backups, $50 parking fees, and get you a full seat more than a foot wide. Going to Michigan games means putting up with a lot of annoying stuff but doing it anyway because you're a die hard, but Brandon decided to change what the die hards liked to try and draw people that were never going to come anyway.

Office guy seems to have copied a picture Holly Anderson had on Grantland last week. Although if the guy was just taking her idea he probably would have just taken her image, maybe he just also came up with the idea on his own since it's a completely different image and editing.

Seriously, people need to watch this video, get the joke, and get on with life. It wasn't a serious threat.
|15 weeks 4 hours ago||You're probably not in the||
You're probably not in the target market for this. Most people this will appeal to are already paying close to $100 for cable alone (and even more if they are getting premium channels). And probably more than $35 for high speed internet. And already have some streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc on top of it. So if these people can get most of what they use cable TV for with the Sling service, it's an easy way to save a lot of money. If you can get all the cable TV and high speed internet you need for $100, it's clear this isn't the most appealing deal, but you're in a shrinking minority. Cable bills are only going up.

In defense of the AD and football staff, I'm pretty sure no other no other fanbase needs any football sooner than our fanbase. Last year was mostly a waste as far as hope for the future is concerned, we need something material to cling to ASAP.

In Beilein we trust and all, but I'm just not seeing it without the offense improving massively in the very near future. Right now I'm filing this in the same bin as the "What happens to Hoke if we win out" question from early October: technically it's possible, but not really.
