It sounds like the player that would be punished the most severe was going to be injured for the first month of the season anyways.
My guess is their starters will be back in time for MSU.

Yeah, every year there is discussion about moving people around -- usually it is to get the best 5 on the field.

In Dinardo's defense, I remember Dinardo saying that we had big physical bodies and talent so we could compete for the conference title in 2012 and 2013. Was that not true? Hoke had the talent, Hoke just could not develop it well and put it into a gameplan (especially QB).
So you watch a practice and you see a lot of talent and size and come away impressed like Dinardo did. What is missing is that they weren't going up against another team with a coach who knew how to use his players.

They should have just said best college team so Vermont could have had a Division 2 team instead of a vacuum.

My fandom became when I was a student at UofM attending my first game vs Notre Dame in 1999. Unfortunately, I grew up a Spartan fan, but at least I evolved and got my degree from the proper school. :-)

My wife and I have a cheap rental duplex. As of now we intend to rent out both units and have it paid off by the time our kids are in college. The proceeds will fund their college. The problem is that the unit can go from having no issues for a couple years to a whole host of issues all at once.
We also assume that our two kids will help with the duties of owning a rental when they are older and it might instill some sort of an entrepreneurial spirit or accountability within them.

We don't need to reinvent conferences and all of the implications that follow to create a playoff system.
In fact, I love how in CFB if you lose a regular season game it is a big deal. You lose an NFL regular season game it isn't. I don't want to water down the regular season where it is like college basketball and games are just for seeding teams with a pulse.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Not necessarily, flukes||
Not necessarily, flukes happen and sometimes the best team gets a post-season ban.
Wisconsin won the BigTen with a 7-5 regular season schedule just in 2012. Their OOC schedule was garbage. Beat Northern Iowa by 5, beat Utah State by 2, Lost to Oregon State, struggled against UTEP (only led by 4 points at one point in the 4th quarter).
|2 weeks 6 days ago||So a few years ago, Wisconsin||
So a few years ago, Wisconsin finished the regular season 7-5, yet through a series of flukes went on to win the BigTen title. Their OOC schedule included beating Northern Iowa by 5 and Utah State by 2 points, losing to Oregon State and beating UTEP in a game that was within 4 points during the 4th quarter.
Would they not be undeserving to have such a limited playoff spot even though they won the conference?
|2 weeks 6 days ago||There are over 120 D1 FBS||
There are over 120 D1 FBS teams and only 6 playoff spots in this scenario. You are fine with giving a spot away to a clearly inferior team simply because they won a conference, a team that may have only lucked out due to the better team getting a post season ban?

Are you arguing against an expanded field?

I think the pollsters do an okay job of considering SoS.
An undefeated midmajor team rarely cracks the top 6 heading into the post season. And if we are honest, it is why the SEC has so many teams ranked.

I like it. It rewards a better regular season and makes the regular season more valuable.
Typically the teams ranked 1-2, will have noticeably better regular seasons than the teams ranked 3-6.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||I would prefer a 6 team||
I would prefer a 6 team playoff, but with the top 6 ranked overall.
The problem is that there are times when a 3+ loss team wins the conference.
For example, in 2012 Ohio State was banned from post season play and 8-6 Wisconsin was BigTen Champion.
In 1999, Stanford was 8-3 in the regular season, but that was enough to win the Pac-10. Etc...
|3 weeks 22 hours ago||The reason I wouldn't take||
The reason I wouldn't take every conference champion automatically, is that every so often you see a 4 loss team "win" their conference championship.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I'd prefer a 6 team||
I'd prefer a 6 team playoff.
-Major advantage to be the #1 or #2 seed and get a 1st round bye, which places extra value on regular season.
-Protects the regular season a lot more than an 8 or 16 team playoff. A 16 team playoff would have years with 3 loss teams making it in. In fact, last year three 3 loss teams would have made the playoffs using the playoff rankings for a 16 team playoff.
-Every major conference champion has a chance to get in, we must admit that Stanford deserved a chance last year.
-Just take the top 6 overall.

Only a few SEC teams have won a national title? Since our title in 1997 the SEC has had 5 schools win national titles; Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama. No other conference is close.

True, but individual players wearing it on gloves or shoes is not as prominant as every player wearing it on the front of their jersey.
I am 100% fine with it, but I do think it looks unusual. I bet by the end of this season I will be fully acclimated to it.

I might go with:
-Abraham Lincoln - November 19, 1863 for the Gettysburg Address.
-MLK Jr. on April 4th 1968 to save his life.
-Dantonio on October 29, 2016 in the future, to kick him while he is down.

I don't mind scheduling Notre Dame again, but 3 big rivalry road games in 2018 along with supposedly paying Arkansas $2 Million to get out of that series seems too steep of a price. Also Notre Dame got an extra home game on us in the last series. I feel like we gave too much for the chance to play them again.

If you want more objective facts here you go:
Saturday Baseball TV ratings are in sharp decline.
Youth participation in baseball is in decline.
MLB has the oldest median-age fan base and is failing to connect with younger sports fans.
Look, I am not saying Baseball is dead or will die within the next 20 years, but there are detrimental issues that are obvious.

"players are so ethnically diverse that sometimes your average Mike from the suburbs kind of feels alienated from the game"
MLB still has 63.9% of its players as white. The NFL has 27.7% of its players as white. Yet the NFL is very popular among white suburbs. I don't think it is racial diversity that is hurting the MLB. In fact, I think it helps. Hispanic kids are far more likely to tell me that they like MLB than white kids, but even there it is a minority of them.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||Baseball is 100% on a||
Baseball is 100% on a downward trajectory. I am not saying it will be dead anytime soon, but I am a high school teacher and I talk to kids. Kids like football, soccer, basketball.....it is difficult to find a high school kid who likes the MLB.
Our soccer and basketball teams easily have enough kids to fill out a team and have cuts. Our baseball team has to bribe kids to join so they have enough players. I've heard kids say that they wanted to play on a varsity team during their high school experience, so they chose baseball, since everyone is guaranteed to earn a letter.
Baseball is slower paced in a fast paced society.
