I went to high school with David and was a close friend for a few years. He is the most deserving person for this award. He was always one of the smartest minds i knew, but he was not at all conceited about it, almost to the point where people didn't realize how smart he actually was. This is an awesome award and he will do amazing things!

I recently moved to Europe and for the first time in my life, I will not be able to watch Michigan on TV every week. What are the best sites to be able to stream the game?
Yes, the defense stepped up and was affecteive on the guards of the spartans, and i apologize if someone above already mentioned this, but I'm so glad they were actually running some sort of offense again. There weren't many, if any moments of trey burke hero ball where he takes over possesion with 12 seconds left on the shot clock and he holds it to make an isolation play. We were setting screens, making cuts, extra passes when appropriate, everything you want out of an offense. I think a lot of that can be attributed to Jordan Morgan. He is the glue guy on this team and is absolutely vitale to this teams success down the road. Either way, hope this scheme and effort continue the rest of the way. Go Blue!
Because the last 40M is when he is at full speed, that is a way different thing than being timed from when he starts, most of the 40 yard dash is still acceleration, so yes a 4.05 40 yard dash would be absoilutely incredible and IMO impossible at this point in time
Hoke is going to act like a father in this situation like he does at all other times throughout this program, and like a parent, its going to have to be his judgement on the actual details and after effects of this charge. There is no way that any of his here know even close to the necessary amount of information to make an appropriate punishment. I know I don't know Fitz at all to the point where I think this is a common action in his personality, and I certainly do not have a right to question his relationship with Hoke and the rest of the program. If the coaching staff feels like the punishment given to him (by the courts, the staff, the school, etc.) are appropriate enough that there is no need for him to miss any games, then who are we to question it.
As a second thought, and this is more about general sports punishments. Isn't the goal after an incident like this to provide a proper punishment, but still make sure that the individuals activities and actions after the event are aimed towards recovering from their mistake and leading to a better future overall? Why would suspending him (or any athlete for that matter) for a game, especially one as big as this one, be helpful to his recovery? I get that it would convince him to not do it again, but aren't there other punishments that would do the same? Ones that wouldn't have him miss an opportunity to showcase his talents on possibly the biggest non bowl/championship game of the year. If he misses this game, it could have a negative affect on his draft stock which could contradict the goal of him being a success in life. The past is the past, and as long as Hoke and Fitz's superiors feel like he has truly learned from the experience, I am not at all against him not missing a game for this first time offence.
I beat Alabama 34-0 in the first game, that was sufficient enough for me to leave for a wedding over the weekend. My main challenge of the first season will be to reel in Shane Morris (The self-created #3 QB prospect), surprisingly, he isn't that high on U of M.
I don't think people should be upset that he is getting this scholorship, he earned it therefore he deserves it, but if I'm UCLA, i would at least suggest the notion of him not taking the scholarship and walking on. If the kid is a true team player, and Diddy agrees, they can make their team better by keeping open a scholorship slot for someone who cannot afford to pay their own way.
I apologize in advance if someone else has already made this point, I didn't have time to read through the previous comments
I'm not as negative about our chances with Cravens as everyone else seems to be. Yes, USC may be a heavy favorite, but then again, he will be visiting, and with him probably coming with Mr. School of the day in Mathis, maybe sugar shane and hoke will be able to get them when on campus. I dont think this race is over yet
One other option I could see is that because of his size and athleticism, they might want him to play hail mary defense at ends of games or halfs like big time recievers like Calvin do. If this was the case, he might be on the field with hawthorne at the same time, meaning he cant be number 7. Just a theory.
I know you are going to be bummed regardless, but the good news out of this situation is that the procedures and treatment for torn ACL's have become so frequent and advanced that its unlikely he won't be able to regain his same form if treated properly
Although I think that there is no such thing as the madden "curse" because of the very slim chance there would be a correlation between a players actual performance and him being pictured on the cover of a video game, I think there are some interesting things to note.
1999 - Garrison Hearst - Got hurt in the playoffs, missed the entire next season
2000 - Barry Sanders - Retired
2001 - Eddie George - Year after cover had a toe injury, never had more than 3.4 YPG again
2002 - Dante Culpepper - 13 TD's, 14 INT, ended season in week 11 with back injury
2003 - Marshall Faulk - Ankle Injury, never rushed for more than 1000 yards again
2004 - Michael Vick - Fractured Right Fibula, Falcons went 5-11
2005 - Ray Lewis - Had a very good season with 147 tackles, Ravens did not make playoffs
2006 - Donovan McNabb - Sports Hernia, Eagles went 6-10 finishing last in the NFC East
2007 - Shaun Alexander - Fractured Foot, didnt make 1000 yards, was cut the next season
2008 - Vince Young - Only missed one game with a quad strain, but we all know how his career has gone since
2009 - Brett Favre - went 1-4 in last 5 with jets throwing 8 picks and 2 TD's, picture scandal
2010 - Troy Polomalu and Larry Fitzgerald - Although Fitzgerald only missed one regular season game, he did not play in the playoffs due to broken ribs, Polomalu on the other hand only played in 5 games all season with a sprained MCL
2011 - Drew Brees - Did not get severly hurt in the season, Lost to the 7-9 Seahawks in the playoffs
2012 - Peyton Hillis - Missed games with a Hamstring Injury, Strep Throat, and a strained hip, and he only scored 3 touchdowns all season.
I think Calvin will be fine, but it sure is hard to argue with the fact that 10 of the 15 missed significant time or key games during the season they were on the cover, and 9 of them were never even close to the same caliber of player they were the year prior (with Hillis still to be judged). Add in VIck's jail time and statistics show that 2/3 of the time, if your on the cover of madden, a giant negative turn for the worse will take place in the near future of your career.
My point wasn't really to make it seem that White was a high usage guy, it was more to the point that when he was in the game, it wasn't like he completely disrupted the flow of the offense and that he was decently productive. If Spike can do the same next year getting about 5 minutes a game, I will be pleased
Stillman White played 192 minutes for the tarheels this season, he had 32 assists and only 5 turnovers! I think we would be very lucky to have spike be that productive as a backup point guard next year
You forgot Kendall Marshall, and possible lottery pick, and with those 4 point guards going in the first round, and the stacked talent at point guard in the league, it doesnt look good for Burke
Agreed that these statistics show that Burke should be considered the top PG in the draft, but the truth is that the statistics do not matter. Right now Trey is anywhere from the 5th-7th point guard in the draft, and the issue is, the league is already pretty stacked with young point guard talent, there are very few teams who do not already have two established point guards on their team, and this years free agency really plays a part in the draft process. There are 4 very good guards entering free agency this year with, Deron Williams, Nash, Eric Gordon, and Jameer Nelson. If teams who have lottery picks need a point guard and think they have a pretty good shot at one of these established players, they will address a different need in the draft, and that would mean the guys like Kendall Marshall and Austin Rivers will drop in the draft, which unfortunetely for Trey, would mean that all the other point guards in the draft would also be negatively affected by it.
Why dont we just increase our number of former NBA players sons? He has got to be better than most of the other random unranked 3* players on this list, plus a UConn offer is never a bad sign...
With Evans abilitity to spread the floor and shoot the ball (something next years team desperately needed) and the fact that he was going to finally play his natural position at the stretch 4, this really hurts next years team. Going into the offseason, I thought that the weakness of next years squad would be defense and shooting, and with the losses of Novak and Douglass already, we will lose 3 out of our 4 "pure shooters" without really adding shooter outside of stauskas. Looks like Beilein's style of shoot a million threes may be on the back burner for a while, But on a positive note, a Lineup of Burke, Hardaway, Robinson, McGary, and Morgan sounds very exciting
If he doesnt end up a Wolverine, which I think is very likely at this point, I hope he ends up with mcallum at UDM, that program is on the rise and in a few years could be the cream of the crop of mid major teams. Plus I think it would be a very cool and unusual story that 2 out of the top three 3 in state recruits (appling being the other) of the 2010 class end up at UDM
Just by looking at this video, it shows that he has some raw reciever skills, and whens a better time to experiment and try and take advantage of this skill set than in the spring, I like where this is going
I think the fact that he is from Ohio. and he did have an offer from Meyer, is being understated, this is a big pickup for the sheer thought that Ohio isnt getting him, add in the fact that he is a true manball back and I think this is a very nice pickup

Thank you, the guide said it was the Cleveland Show on TBS.. No wonder why I never thought to check it out.
What Channel is the game on? I can't seem to be able to find it

Maybe I just do not understand the policies on Mgoblog, but why is this comment being negged?

It's probably a good thing, he always seems to miss his dunks..
Double post sorry
Michigan 78 - 57 Bradley
Couldn't agree more! Go Holland!

my apologies fellas, I strictly took that information off of wikipedia. I figured it would be alright as long as i wasnt writing a research paper

"Alabama came into school today to see me and I told my coach I don't want to talk to other schools..So my coach told him leave a card..Hahaa"
Hilarious. That's all I have to say
How many spots do we have left in this class?

Not sure if this is right but I'm pretty sure that quote was from Webb, not Poggi
