fuck that giant, pasty,

fuck that giant, pasty, stupid looking piece of shit kaminsky. that being said, he's pretty good at basketball

game over. hey, glad we

game over. hey, glad we showed some life but we're not coming back from this again

fuck kaminsky. fuck that guy

fuck kaminsky. fuck that guy

I know the long two got us

I know the long two got us back into this game, but can we take better shots now please?

finally a call. and it only

finally a call. and it only took Traevon Jackson trying to initiate a wrestling match to get it, too

Comeback or no, fuck

Comeback or no, fuck winsconsin. I'm glad we're showing some life in the second half, but even if we don't pull it out, I hate these badgers. and bo ryan is the worst

Agreed about us being bad,

Agreed about us being bad, but we're not getting much help form the refs. Wisconsin can do whatever they want on defense and we're not built to play that way. Although this half the physicality we're showing seems to be the reason for our nascent comeback

Wisconsin is having their way

Wisconsin is having their way with us and the refs are happy to help. And then when they do call a foul on wisconsin its a phantom foul against caris. goddammit

Yeah, so far he's

Yeah, so far he's been...inconsistent, to put it nicely. But he plays better defense than Irvin, so there's that, at least? It's not like there's a significantly better option right now

why did we suddenly get

why did we suddenly get really bad at passing the ball? it feels like every other pass is a turnover

Is it just me or does it seem

Is it just me or does it seem like pretty much every rebound has been right to a wisconsin player? I understand that there's some strategy and technique to rebounding, but it just feels a lot like luck. Or, if you're Dan Dakich, the ball just knows it wants to go to a wisconsin player

You know how sometimes you

You know how sometimes you watch a game and then see some stats and you're all like, "whoa, I didn't realize that from just watching?" This is not one of those times. Nice to get the confirmation of how bad that half was haha

From what I've seen this

From what I've seen this board is taking a fifteen point defecit at home in the first half pretty well. Did you see this board during the Indiana game? That might have been overreacting. This all seems pretty reasonable given the circumstances

I think eveyrone has said

I think eveyrone has said stupid things in anger at games like this. Good for you if you don't get angry and can look down and shame the rest of us who do. But are you watching this? Stauskas shouldn't be on the goddamn court. Three out of four possessions now he's turned it over. No NBA team should waste a pick on Glenn Robinson III. But more than that, people should be angry that we look like we don't have a coach right now, like they forgot how to basketball and no one is telling them how to basketball. Dakich is really enjoying pointing out our lack of effort, and he's not wrong. Sigh. I hate Dan Dakich. But he's right, which makes me sad. This isn't a referendum on Beliein, but goddammit would you look at the shit we're smearing all over the court right now?

Goddammit. I'm calling state

Goddammit. I'm calling state to win the big ten. Fuck Indiana and that ugly midget

Jesus christ I know that

Jesus christ I know that sometimes guys get hot but at this point just foul him hard when he looks like he might shoot. Seriously. Foul him. It's better than whatever it is we're doing

Can we please stop letting

Can we please stop letting Yogi get open looks from 3? 5/6 and Stauskas can't get open. I mean really, this is getting ridiculous and obnoxious. Being at Indiana we're not going to get too many bail-out calls so maybe we should play like we're trying to keep the one fucking hoosier who can shoot from doing that

I agree. I get angry and post

I agree. I get angry and post things that are...the opposite of that during the liveblogs, but I don't think Hoke can or should go at this point. I've definitely lost a good bit of faith in Hoke over the last three months, but I think he can be a good coach here in the long run. He has a Rich Rodriguez problem, however. I'm not sure what the dynamic he has with Al is, but I certainly am under the impression that he spends most of his time on the defense and probably leaves the offense to its own devices.

Can that work? Of course. But it bit Rodriguez badly, and it may prove costly for Hoke. This situation isn't entirely analogous to Rich Rod's, of course. Hoke exerts more influence on our offense than I think Rodriuez did on our defense (we can argue about the details, hypothetical person who disagrees), and I think that to the extent Hoke is involved with the offense, he is a negative influence. Hoke has made it abundantly clear that he does not tolerate the spread (which I think is a silly, stupid position to stake out, but if you're angling to be the knee-jerk rebound coach at Michigan post-Rodriguez, it makes sense. Or he's just a little dumb...neither is especially reassuring). I think in being so blindly dedicated to MANBALL, Hoke is limiting our options and it's costing us.

Ultimately, if Hoke can get rid of Borges and bring in an offensive staff that shows at least reasonable improvement next year, I'll be happy with 9-4 if we don't shit the bed offensively like we have this year. Can we go 9-4 with Borges next year? Sure. But my faith in him is shot; I'm willing to give Brady time but Borges is a problem. Not the only problem, but a big one. Someone can argue that Funk and Gardner and youth are also problems, but I think that those problems can get better. So long as we have Borges, however, I think we'll be saying, "wait until next year, then we'll really see what we've got." And I'm not sure I can deal with that.

I'm not sure the fact that it

I'm not sure the fact that it wasn't tested immediately is a scandal. It's obviously not ideal, but a quick google search reveals that Memphis has ~12,000 untested rape kits, Texas is trying to test ~20,000 old kits that were never tested and that suburban communities around Chicago frequently test less than 2/3 of the rape kits they receive.

Obviously athletes receive favorable treatment relative to other people; not in ever case or by everyone, but it happens. Any attempts by police to prevent the truth from coming out are despicable. But let's not indict the police department just yet. Evidence testing (DNA, etc.) by police in real life doesn't work like it does on TV, and there's a lot we should be doing to fix it. But let's not assume the worst.

By the way, I just picked this comment to respond to a lot of similar-sounding comments; not trying to pick on you, MikeCohodes

EDIT: I think I missed something and this comment is irrelevant. I didn't realize it took as long as it did to get Winston's DNA, not to test the rape kit. My bad. Ignore!

I get not firing coaches is a

I get not firing coaches is a good thing for continuity and everything. But if Hoke wants to keep Horges, he needs to go. Hands down. Will he? No. I don't mean this to be mean, but I think Al Borges is kind of stupid. Running out of the I-form for a loss over and over and over to run play action no one is worried about? And to do it just because you believe that that style of play is better than the style of play that actually has been working for you fore some inexplicable reason? Al Borges makes good play calls occasionally. I could do that based on my experience playing NCAA football on my xbox. He needs to do it consistently, and he does a shit shit shitttaaayyyyy job coaching Devin to be quarterback, so why is he still here. Get that fat piece of shit out of here.

fuck this team. they deserved

fuck this team. they deserved that. I dont care if theyre college kids and theyre trying. Im sure theyre not happy about it either, but I couldnt give a flying fuck. I liked Beilein. That whole team can eat shit now

I agree. It was kind of a

I agree. It was kind of a stupd thing to post. Giving it 15 minutes or so would have been wise

I want us to be unranked

I want us to be unranked after this. I want to forget we have a basketball team. I think its fitting because this game has been an expose. Michigan State isnt bad, but were awful. I dont know how we beat anybody. I dont want to root for this team anymore. Label my post some sort of overreaction, but we come out looking awful in our biggest games. We beat Ohio State on a fluke performance from Hardaway. Apparently we dont give a shit. So now I dont either. I hope we lose the rest of our games and no one pretends to like Michigan basketball anymore. It's only a game, sure. But now I have to listen to obnoxious state people who can actually say that they are better than us. And they're right. Good for them. We are Notre Dame football from 1993-2011 in every way. Also, Dan Dakich is obnoxious to listen to.

this is true. they really did

this is true. they really did not want to catch anything he threw at them. But Nebraska did the right thing by sending pressure to see if he'd freeze up and he did. He's young. but he's also as far into Borges' system as Denard, for all intents and purposes. I don't know if Shane Morris is actually any good (hopefully, but you never know with high school kids), but I would be worried about my development here under Borges if he is

[PS: did i say system? I mean random amalgamation of plays designed to...not relate to each other at all. If you run it straight upfield for 2 yards every third play, certainly the other team will relent and give you points! that's football, a gentleman's game of mutual respect for giving the ball to the running backs until nothing happens. Why was last year so much different?  And I know Borges had success coaching whats-his-name at SDSU, so I know hes had success. Im mostly concerned about how he thinks the whole punch-counterpunch thing works]

I don't think I've ever seen

I don't think I've ever seen a quarterback's stat line worse than Bellomy's. I'm not trying to condemn him; the coaches bear the responsibility for that. It's just frustrating to see...whatever that was

Fire. Borges. I dont actually

Fire. Borges. I dont actually believe that but it would feel sooooo good right now. and I'm not even drunk anymore. Bellomy is his kind of guy, right? That's why we recruited him? to be...this? the future of our offense? Woooooo!

Maybe it's just because I'm

Maybe it's just because I'm inclined to be pessimistic about these things, but I think we should hold off on giving the new defensive coaching staff too many accolades just yet.  I'm not saying the old coaches were better (clearly many, many, many, many things were very wrong there), and I'm very happy with the coaches that are here now, especially Mattison.

But the ND game is troubling for a lot of reasons.  I think that the ND game is the only game we can take much from going into the rest of the season.  And ND should have wrapped that game up a couple of times--the only reason we were still in it at the very end is because of a couple of very unforced errors (Wood fumble, Rees derp) and some other errors you can call forced but were probably just Rees being Rees.  And when our defense needed to stop ND from scoring with a minute left, they failed pretty spectacularly.  The touchdown bust on that drive is almost certainly a direct result of a poor decision by Mattison.

And before we conclude that San Diego State is better than Uconn (not that they won't be; the jury is gonna be out for another couple of months), keep in mind Uconn went to the Fiesta Bowl last year.  They weren't an awful team.  I also think San Diego State could have made that a game if Lindley had played better.  His passes were off a lot of the time, and I don't think much of that can be ascribed to having a defender in his face.  He just played poorly.

What I'm trying to say is that I hope you're right, but I wouldn't get too excited.  I think that coaching may have something to do with turnovers, but we haven't seen enough of these coaches to call them great.  There is a good chance we've been lucky.  And I agree that ND last year would have put up better numbers with Crist in the whole time.  But I think the diary numbers indicate that maybe we should brace ourselves for a rougher big ten season than I think we're hoping for because these things take time to fix.  Not that this has any meaning for the Minnesota game.  Good God is Minnesota awful this year

You're right.  From what I

You're right.  From what I understand, Pace had knee problems before he even stepped on campus.  There was a lot of talk last season about him probably never being able to play because of it, so I think it's safe to say it wasn't a recent thing

Fair enough. I agree about

Fair enough. I agree about the other schools (I wasn't trying to say earlier that no schools had reasonable policies, just that most probably didn't, or worse, didn't adhere to them) and I think Kelly should be fired. I think it sounds like were basically in agreement

Yeah I agree with you that a

Yeah I agree with you that a michigan coach would be fired if it happened here under the same circumstances. And I think RR was a good guy and a good coach. I think he generally did run his program the right way, at least in terms of caring for players and putting their education and welfare first. I think the issue is not so much human decency (I don't think Kelly was callous or uncaring about the death of someone he was responsible for), but that at Michigan the coaches put less pressure on the support staff than at ND--in this one specific regard, at least. I know michigan's lifts were at less than half height, but keep in mind the wind was blowing faster than 28 mph and they were still up. Either they didn't have a policy or they weren't adhering to it if you believe that said policy existed before the accident. I'm just saying that the coaching staff at Michigan maybe didn't say that the videographers had to go up all the way because the coaches didn't really care, and that maybe previous Michigan coaches were just like Kelly in that they did care and didn't understand the potential danger that caused. Maybe being the key word here, if you understand

sadly true haha. I know

sadly true haha. I know that its good for your team when your opponents have good seasons, but i enjoyed watching ND's games a lot more the first half of the season than the second for some reason...

And justingoblue, M's policy as told to the media is that the lifts are automatically grounded at 28 mph. This is portrayed as something that existed before the accident. It wasn't. I think youre right that this wouldn't have happened under RR--but not because he wouldn't let it.  Let's just say I don't think RR gave two shits about what the videographers were doing much of the time and it's good that there are relatively sensible people at michigan who did. And I think Kelly's staff made it very clear that they wanted the best film they could get, regardless of the weather. I think a lot of people never had reason to think about the possibility of wind knocking over a lift, and I'm guessing Kelly probably thought it wasn't something that would ever happen. Doesn't excuse ignorance or negligence, but I don't think people think about it when the lifts are used every day and only two have fallen in the last ten years or so

Thanks. I don't try to come

Thanks. I don't try to come off like an ass but I know something about this stuff and figured it was worth it to post something that I knew. And I know RR said that, but the day they practiced inside was actually the day before the incident happened--and precisely because the wind speeds were gonna be too high for lifts. The next day they were indeed outside. His comments bring to mind the phrase "massaging the truth," probably only because I've watched too much 30 rock lately. And I'm not trying to be all dickish about details. My broader point is simply that while Michigan staff acted more appropriately that day (incredibly more appopriately, actually) than ND staff and took some precautions, it's more a matter of luck than anything else. I 'm just suggesting that maybe michigan didn't have a policy about the lifts until someone heard on the news that a student videographer died. And Michigan wouldn't be alone in that.

And yes I know the responsibility is Kelly's, I'm not trying to blame the victim. I think Kelly should be fired from things Iv'e heard about who made decisions that day. I just think it's a shame it won't happen.

Whatever you may have heard

Whatever you may have heard about michigan going inside to practice that day isn't exactly true. and by "isn't exactly true," i mean that it isn't true at all.  And from my personal understanding, the vast majority of coaches don't pay attention to those things until people get hurt or killed. Other people are paid to watch out for such things, but they have no real power over coaches because the coaches are the ones who say whether or not they keep their jobs. It's a terrible system. I'm shocked more student workers haven't been hurt or killed or that seems don't seem to have changed since the Notre Dame incident.  Also, "properly secured" is not a phrase I would use to describe Michigan's hydraulic lifts. Probably not a good phrase to describe any college football teams' lifts, actually.
