This has to be the most auspicious way to start this weekend. All of a sudden I feel a sense of calm and confidence for the next two games. Let’s have a real good time! |
| 1 year 34 weeks ago | Ziff, your comments are the |
Ziff, your comments are the most sensible I have read on this thread. Sure Denard does make questionable decisions at times, thus the interceptions, but on many occasions his receivers are not making easy catches. As a result, Denard’s stats make him look less accurate than he really is. I can’t believe anyone is calling for him to switch positions. F *** it. This thread is ridiculous. Denard gives Michigan the best chance to win period. |
| 1 year 36 weeks ago | I will root for State mainly |
I will root for State mainly because my brother, who is a State alum and a huge slappy, is going to the game with high hopes. Unfortunately for him, the Irish will win big. ND-35 MSU-21 I think this game will reveal a lot about both teams. |
| 1 year 36 weeks ago | #3 |
I agree Sparty is overrated and going down. It is possible they could have two losses by the time we play them (ND and Ohio). |

I'm betting that team will be MSU! |

It pains me to admit this but you might be right about Denard, I have been nervous about this game since last week's UFR . |
| 1 year 36 weeks ago | Question: |
Question: If Al Borges is such a great offensive coordinator why was he at San Diego State at such a point in his career? This is a serious question, not a cynical one, I have wondered for a while now but all of a sudden feel compelled to ask.

| 1 year 45 weeks ago | Maybe it's time for a change |
I love your video. It was my Saturday morning anthem for two years. That said, maybe it's time for a change. Just a suggestion, how about Followed by Ghosts- Clear Blue Sky I think it has the dramatic highs and lows necessary to make a phenomenal video.
It's not quite original. HBO used it as a finale outro for one of their 24/7specials and did a spectacular job.
I think if you put some sound bites from Hoke, Brandon etc. it could be awesome.

| 2 years 7 weeks ago | Great post |
I truly feel that it was 80% off the field issues and 20% on the fieldissues that did RR in. Brandon could have made a case to keep RR simply by sighting all the returning starters, most notably Denard. That would be the main reason for someone to legitimately expect 9+ wins next year. On the field issues can be solved simply by winning. However, the off the field issues, or the perception of off the field issues, is something that could not be overcome. I know countless older people who feel that RR is a “bad guy” for whatever reason and wanted him to lose every game. If you asked why he/she felt that way the response would be based on personal opinion/assumptions rather than fact. Therefore, 9 wins this year, 10 wins next year, and even multiple double digit win seasons after that would not change the perception that some, or alot, of the fan base has/ had about RR. It is clear when you hear the players say that Hoke is the best person for Michigan, it is not from a win loss standpoint but purely a PR standpoint. The players understand this, Brandon understands this, the media understand this, but for some reason – the blind love for RR and the what could have been meme- RR supporters, myself included, have a hard time understanding or better yet accepting this.

I'm not a fan of trash talk but I remember Raymon Morgan and crew last year with their smug faces,so, part of me was happy. Either way, I'm glad little brother is on a first class flight to Bolivia. |
| 2 years 18 weeks ago | To put the last 3-4 years in |
To put the last 3-4 years in perspective using the mutual fund analogy: more risk = more reward. First, I find it kind of ironic how the football program has, in a way, resembled the stock market circa 2007-2010. Specifically, the stock market first showed signs of trouble in the summer of 2007. At the same time, the football program showed its first sign of severe volatility the weekend of the horror, which was September 2007. Both remained volatile throughout the remainder of 2007. Furthermore, in 2008 the stock market and football program alike, declined dramatically from where they were the previous year(s): Michigan 3 wins down from 9 in 2007, meanwhile, the stock market lost roughly half its value. However, the stock market and the football program reached its low point soon after and began to recover in the spring of 2009. For the fans, I think the first glimmer of hope was obviously the debut of the weapon of choice (Tate for those who don’t remember) in the spring game of 2009. In 2010, both slowly regained some momentum and showed “progress” to getting back to where they once were. Neither has made it yet. Now, for the fund analogy, I think most Michigan fans are risk averse. Therefore, they would like a blue chip fund, S&P fund, or a bond fund, something that will lower the risk to the down side but will not outperform the overall market returns when times are good. On the other hand, some fans, including myself, are willing to take more risk now in order for greater returns in the future similar to an emerging market fund. I like to think of RR as an emerging market fund in the sense that when times are bad they were really bad but when the returns started coming they would be really good (like MNC good). On the other hand, I think of Hoke as a safe choice or someone that will lower the downside risk but will not outperform the overall market (NCAA) while maybe winning a B1G championship here and there but no MNC if you will. Lastly, thanks for your work Brian. It was a great read and mirrors many thoughts I have. Go Blue!!!!!!!!!!

| 2 years 18 weeks ago | I believe Denard will stay |
I believe Denard will stay and excel in whatever offense is installed. As competitive of an athlete he is, I think he will embrace the challenge of becoming more of a "pro style" QB. I aslo think he will prove all the naysayers and haters wrong and make another giant step as a passer this year. This has me very, very excited.
Go Blue!!!!!!!!!!! |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | I think so too. It is quite |
I think so too. It is quite logical to asssume DB wanted to bring RR back if JH was unavailable. Although, it would have been almost impossible to bring RR back after the bowl performance. The only plausible way would have been with an entirely new defensive and special teams staff. To your second point, I was one of RR's biggest supporters, but Miles probably is an upgrade. |
| 2 years 19 weeks ago | I think you nailed it Mgrowold |
You're right, the firing process was questionable to say the least. I believe Brandon tried to force RR into firing his defensive staff , RR called his bluff , and Brandon was forced to let RR and his entire staff go. Think about it, why was the entire staff let go? Also, to my understanding, some of the defensive coaches are RR's closest friends and have an undying loyalty to him. Therfeore, he was probably reluctant to let them go. And if RR was going to eventually get canned anyway(next year, 2 years, whenever?.) it makes sense to keep his loyalty to his staff and move on now. Finally, to the notion that DB was trying to force RR to resign, that is crazy. Why in the world would he resign with a $2.5 million buyout on the table?

| 2 years 19 weeks ago | Braylon is an A**hole |
I posted this in another thread but some so called "Michigan Men" rub me the wrong way. As a matter of fact, I despise alot of Michigan fans. I love Michigan, and Lloyd Carr for that matter, but if being a "Michigan Man" is treating everyone who is not like shit, you can have it. RR, who I supported and miss by the way, is gone and still getting cheap shots. What a joke. Good luck getting an outsider to coach here again, even he is the best candidate. That is all. I feel better now. |

Happy New Year! This game reminds me alot og the Uconn game. Specifically, a game I think/thought we should win, but was terrified to lose due to the consequences and series of events that are/were sure to follow. That said, I am super excited for this game and feel, after the game is over ,it will be thought of as a coming out party for this teams future. Therefore, Michigan 38 Miss. State 21. RR is the coach for 2011 o and beyond. Go Blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Although, it seems like Denard should have gotten an invite. After all, I thought the Heisman was awarded to the BEST college player, not the player with the best winning %. I have a hard time finding people who will debate that Denard is not one of the top three college football players in 2010. It's all a big nothing. |
| 2 years 23 weeks ago | That was awesome!!! |
The video recording was great. I watched the display live and it was, as corny as it may sound, somewhat magical. I could'nt help thinking that this may be the turining point in Michigan sports.

Conventional wisdom points to a Wisconsin win. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they have a big beefy offensive line that is expected to have its way with the Michigan D-Line blah, blah, etc. Call it homerism, or slapiness, but I don't see it that way. All season long the Michigan offense has carried the defense. However, last week it was the opposite. For some reason, I truly think this week the whole TEAM turns in its best performance of the year against the (as our friend Wojo calls them) Fraudgers. That includes special teams. Last week we finally got a defensive touchdown. Tomorrow I think the special teams come through with a big play. Mich 38 "Fraudgers" 27 Go Blue!!!!!!!!! |
| 2 years 27 weeks ago | Forget dollar cost averaging |
Bet the over. A fool proof way for superior portfolio returns. Over: I like Michigan to get off to at least a two touchdown lead before Purdue scores. Under: two weeks ago I had a feeling that Royster would have a breakout game against Michigan. This week, although nervous, I think Michigan holds Purdue in check. Sure the team may have over 300 total yards, I just don't think the QB will. Over: I am hoping Fitz adds some firepower to Michigans rushing attack. I am looking for Denard 250 passing/150 rushing plus more than 100 from the platoon of RB. I also love the points at OSU. Go Blue!!!!!!!!! |
