I have been living in Austin for 4 years in June. I moved from Ohio. It's been the best decision I ever made. I've travelled all over the country the last 5-7 years and nothing comes close to it. It's COMPLETELY different from the rest of Texas. The only drawback is the heat, which I don't mind at all. 80 degree summer nights are great and 80 degree Novembers are even better. There's traffic in all big cities. It's an awesome artistic town, the people are great and it's a gorgeous city with a small town feel. I wouldn't live anywhere besides here. I live on the west side by Barton Springs and it's great. Living on the west side gives you a much different perspective of the city as opposed to living on the east side (more poverty, but also younger, artsy types), which I did for 3 years. There's a Pluckers bar on South Lamar that is packed with M fans every football Saturday. It's been the fastest growing city in the US for several years for a reason. On second thought, don't move here. The housing prices are skyrocketing bc so many people are moving here. K Thanks.

Coach Izzo, if Appling's wrist is hanging on by a thread why is he slapping the floor?

Did he just complain that they had no time to practice with this group then say they needed rest more than anything? Which is it, Tomcat? Get your excuses straight.

This. My mom has brain cancer. The doctors told her she had two years to live. She's sought alternative treatment not recognized by the FDA. Why? Because it actually works. The Gerson Institute doesn't accept brain cancer patients, unfortunately, but she followed many of the same tenets. She's cut out processed sugar and sodium from her diet, only eats organic food and started a cannabis treatment. She had an MRI on Monday and much to the shock of her ignorant, money hungry doctors the tumors in her brain are practically GONE. This all happened in less than two months! Her doctos dismissed it as an unexplainable "miracle". Oddly enough, people and doctors don't realize that eating garbage helps produce disease. And the organizations responsible don't tell people either. Cancer is BIG business. That's why there's only a focus on the CURE and not the CAUSE.

I live in Austin and have time Warner. I'm worried the game won't be playing anywhere here with UT playing at the same time. Not familiar with directv. Will a bar that has directv get the game here? And do abc prime time games show on espn3?

I didn't have cable for about 5 years or so. I was the stream king. However, it seemed the streams would always crap out at important junctures of the game. I missed one of the first TD's of UTL because of this. I had a great setup, too. Was streaming games from my Mac Pro to an expensive projector and screen. But I'd finally had enough. I was having to go to bars to watch important games and quickly discovered spending 3+ hours at a bar every Saturday was much more expensive than paying the $80-$100 for cable a month. Time Warner, at least in Austin, allows you to cancel at any time w/out a fee. I figured I'd cancel it during the summer/slow sports months and hook it up for football/basketball season.

Real recognize real. Coach Hoke and his staff seem to be incredibly real, fun-loving guys. Who wouldn't want to play for a staff that likes to have so much fun, but know when it's time to work? Sprinkle in Coach Mattison (the 25 year-old) who's coached some of the best players the game has ever seen and the fact that This Is Michigan, fergodsakes and it's a no-brainer. This staff has been here long enough now that they're able to start relationships with elite talent much earlier in the process. The sky is the limit for this class. Just as it will be from now on as long as Brady is here.

What happens tomorrow will be talked about for years and years to come. Lets all enjoy this moment right now.

Even though that's a side angle you can tell that Denard is, of course, smiling. Shocking. I know.

I made it a point to have subs and will again on Mondy. It was, indeed, crazy.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||Watched the game alone||
I watched the game alone so as not to annoy anyone when I rewind every great M play 7 times. I've been standing up in front of the tv ever since Trey stole the ball in the opening minute of the VCU game, only sitting for timeouts to check MgoBlog on the iPad. So, I was standing, laughing hysterically and screaming, "What the hell?!!! What the hell??!!!! Holy shit! Holy fuckin shit! What the fuck just happened???? Holy shit! Ohhhh my god. What the fuck.....just happened? Yessssssss!!!!" Over and over again. Just in shock.

|1 year 21 weeks ago||Although.||
Although this joke has been making me laugh since Brian posted it I totally forgot until just now that I had a sub for lunch (Short Bus Subs-Austin, Texas) and still have the other half of it in my fridge for later. Amazing coincidence. It's gonna get crazy here tonight.

I hate to break it to some of you but most, if not all, college degrees are rapidly decreasing in value. Some are practically worthless. A world is emerging that allows people to learn anything under Sun for FREE. Crazy I know! It's called the Internets. Pretty rad idea if you ask me. For those saying college athletes get a "free" degree are being misleading. They receive an opportunity to get a free, ever-decreasing in value degree. They still have to go to class, do homework and study wrote information for tests. That takes work on their part. Also, if they don't do these things up to their University's standards they get kicked off the team regardless if they completed their degree or not and despite however much money they helped contribute to the University. Also, what's the REAL cost for the university for their education? They're not building lavish houses for these kids, they're putting an extra chair in a classroom full of 500 people. I could walk in there tomorrow and nobody would notice or object. There's no guarantee, as I'm sure many of you can attest to, that they'll get a well-paid job in their chosen field upon graduating. At the very least put money in a trust fund for them upon leaving school. They shouldn't have to complete a degree to retain anything of value when as a whole they've generated an immeasurable amount of money for people that don't provide a service independent of these athletes.

|1 year 32 weeks ago||Concussions||
Concussions aren't the only sign damage has been done to the brain. That's great y'all take kids out, but that still isn't addressing the issue. You take kids out AFTER they get injured. Great, you should do that. However, if they were properly educated about the dangers they'd never have concussions. We can't expect 8-10 year old kids to comprehend this.
|1 year 32 weeks ago||Best Board Topic||
In the 3 years I've been coming here. The OP has some great points. As do others. Let's be honest, do we really need extensive research to realize young children ramming their heads together isn't good for their brain? If you think so you're lying to yourself. The schools and leagues these kids play for aren't sitting them down and illustrating the possible and logical long-term effects of football. If they did my guess is a lot less kids wouldn't play. In order for the sport to be sustainable it needs to become far less violent. Taking the face masks off is worthy of exploring. If that doesn't all but eliminate the horrendous effects of taking shots to the dome then it's time to make it two hand touch. I know that sounds "effeminate", but call me crazy I'd rather not see human beings suffer. Even if they choose to play and are lucky enough to make millions of dollars from it. It's still completely unnecessary for them to do that to their bodies.

Think about how ridiculous it is for others to want him to apologize. What are you 6? So, he just needs to apologize, regardless if he actually means it, just say it to appease other people? If that makes you feel better you should probably move to a place where you're not around people, affecting them with your child-like rationale.
"Okay, he said he was sorry, guys. Now, let's actually acknowledge his contributions to the University. Now I can sleep at night. I don't know about you."
Let's grow up. He paid the price. The University paid the price, but also gained a ton of money and recognition. It's over. Get over it.
"Not everybody's the perfect person in the world. I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever. I think that people need a second chance, and I've always looked up to Chris Webber, and I always will."
