Interesting that even against a program like Northwestern that has vastly exceeded expectations, our win probability has gone up.
|1 day 5 hours ago||Turning .6 wins into 1.0 wins||
Turning .6 wins into 1.0 wins would move the expected total from 8.55 to 8.95 even without any other changes in probabilities, so, yes you're right.

Think you may be misreading that. Don't know about y'all, but there's something about having Harbaugh as coach that lets me just *enjoy* a lot of other college football. I think it's the security of knowing nobody has it better than us.

Also, that's kind of the point. The more advance hysteria, the more prepared people are, and the less of an impact the storm has.

Yes, because fans can definitely go win the game, and/or OP is asking the team itself to chant for a recruit...

Eh, why worry about whether he gets the job when it's quite clear he doesn't give a shit about it? Worst case, will be a good life lesson.

How exactly *did* Brandon manage to both resign (rather than be fired) and keep his buyout? Was that just Michigan being gracious?
|4 weeks 23 hours ago||Voltron Blue||
After what seemed to these eyes to be a bungling of the administration of the CARA forms, directly leading to Michigan's first "major" NCAA violations, I felt like maybe the athletic organization was getting a little too comfortable (/sloppy/lazy) and I actually liked the idea of lighting a fire. Obviously, the book reveals that it went ridiculously way too far.

Will be interesting to read the opinion. Speculation was that what took so long for the decision was Berman was solidifying against future appeal.

My understanding is that Nike is able (legally allowed) to make fan gear (just not uniforms and sideline apparel) but won't be doing so until the contract starts. Not sure if that's a gentlemen's agreement among the apparel manufacturers or if Nike doesn't want to advertise for an Adidas program for another year, etc, but that's the situation.

Like many others, just wanted to chime in that, even though that presser was full of coachspeak, it was just downright fun to read. I don't think it's just the (halo of the) Harbaugh effect either...talking about the big persons' table, spending time together in a football fashion, playfully misinterpreting the comment about being on the field as talking about him...GOLD, JERRY...GOLD.

Coaching tree is, in fact, his "fault" but it's pretty darn low on the list of priorities. Definitely a nice to have, not a need to have.

Very little basketball teams? I bet those teams don't win a lot of games. Get pounded down low by taller players.
|7 weeks 4 days ago||Dude, nobody is comparing||
Dude, nobody is comparing them as coaches. Merely saying that Harbaugh was a MUCH better coach than his record at Stanford, and thus overall record is deceiving. You could even argue that Hoke was a WORSE coach at Michigan than his record (given the trajectory and that he inherited the talent that led to his best teams).
But you say yourself that Hoke "turned around a MAC program". So why wouldn't another MAC or MAC-level program give him that same chance? Those are still FBS schools, FYI.
You can think Hoke wasn't good enough at Michigan (which we all think) but it's an overreaction to think he won't get another shot. Expect to be shocked, I guess.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||Indeed, and there were||
Indeed, and there were *still* swarms of people who thought RR's experience here meant he was finished as a head coach, that the best he could aspire to was to be someone's OC.
I'm not a Hoke fan, but he won at Ball State and he won at San Diego State. Some other FBS program will give him a shot.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||By "Hoke will be fine" I mean||
By "Hoke will be fine" I mean that he will be hired again at the FBS level and be able to sustain his employment. As for why, I'm with Blue Indy...to ignore the state of the program he took over at Ball State, and what he did with it is to agree with State fan who says Harbaugh has never won anything.
Now, again, Hoke is not good enough for Michigan. But that's a high bar compared to very many programs out there.
I'd also like to note that it appears the post I replied to above has been deleted, so now this chain looks randomly placed.
|7 weeks 5 days ago||He wasn't good enough at||
He wasn't good enough at Michigan but this is silly. Then again, people said the same about Rich Rod and were proven wrong pretty quickly. Hoke will be fine in the mid majors or even a lower rung Power 5 program.

What you didn't say, but I do believe, is that had Brandon hired Harbaugh in 2011, he might be on his way out soon (potentially after winning a national championship...), whereas now I agree that we have a good chance of having him long term (hopefully with multiple national championships...).
We will never truly know, but now that we're here...we may in fact be better off long term. Which is not to excuse any of Brandon's actions, just that it works out that way sometimes.

I think it was his Twitter handle (which is not necessarily a part of his professional persona), not his email address. Not that he's not a clown, but it is an important distinction.
