That pun

That pun was more adventurous than mine.

The execution of all things...

...needs to be perfect for us to win. But we can hope!

Nope, they'd be 13-0 because

Nope, they'd be 13-0 because McGuffie could jump over the rest of the schedule.

I'd be more inclined to

I'd be more inclined to believe it was a hack writer. As someone pointed out, WDIV had an article about a similar topic yesterday: http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/20915128/detail.html

They probably heard about the article, searched online, and mistook the old article for the new one. Still stupid.

The listed capacity would

The listed capacity would shoot up next year with the completion of the boxes to around 110,000 or 111,000, except they are planning to widen the aisles and seats to some extent. They won't be doing as much widening because of the lawsuit, which already took up a lot of space, but they're going to figure out how much they can do to keep the stadium's listed capacity at about 108,000.

That's only an increase of about 500, but the existing seats will be roomier. So they say.

There is none

There is no journalism program at UM.

Whoa, one minute apart.

Whoa, one minute apart.

As if enough people weren't

As if enough people weren't predicting Taylor Lewan becoming the next Jake Long already... #77.

Well, I don't think anyone

Well, I don't think anyone genuinely expects Forcier to be Jesus. It's a joke.

Realistically, he's likely to complete about half his passes, throw about as many interceptions as touchdowns, and only run for maybe 300-400 yards on the season. He's a freshman, and Devin Gardner will be a freshman in 2010, so I don't think people will expect him to be better, especially with his lack of polish as a passer.

Unless Denard's way more poised as a thrower than we think, I think we're going to see at least two years of Tate with sprinklings of Denard as a change of pace. After that, Gardner's greater physical upside might allow him to contend for the job (his RS freshman/ true sophomore year, Tate's junior year) but more likely Tate and Denard rule the roost for four years.

Good point, although I think

Good point, although I think the Caps ownership is confident the existing glut of young defensemen will mature to provide that physicality on the backend.

Milan Jurcina and Jeff Schultz both improved by leaps and bounds last season. They might very well take another big leap forward. And then there's our #1 pick from last year, John Carlson, who's only 19 1/2 now but at 6'2"/205 is already poised to make the depth chart as a big hitter.

Besides them, I expect the Caps to make a deal. They have Karl Alzner and John Erskine, both solid young defenders, as well as Shaone Morrison, and these guys can't all fit into the top 6. I think they'll deal a young defender, a draft pick and one of their two prospect goalies besides Varlamov and try to pick up an established big man on the blueline.

Damn, the great leap forward

Damn, the great leap forward was my idea. I think it's brilliant.

Play him off, keyboard cat

Play him off, keyboard cat

I'm a big Caps fan, and

I'm a big Caps fan, and although I initially agreed that Morrison doesn't have anything left in the tank, I still think it's a smart move for the Caps. They're going to be losing some veterans players, having lost Kozlov and Fedorov to Russia, and there's a good chance Theodore and Nylander will be gone too.

A one-year, $1.5 million deal with Morrison is almost nothing, and it's a price I'd gladly pay for some leadership. If he can produce at his previous level, all the better.

And I'm straight-up excited about getting Knuble. I expect him to play on our top line with Ovechkin and Backstrom. He'll definitely help that line by providing some forechecking and a physical presence near the net.

No, the Nats will sign him.

No, the Nats will sign him. They've been running a tight budget the last few years and because they haven't made any big acquisitions except Adam Dunn, they have the money. The only way this deal doesn't go through is if Strasburg nixes it, and let's face it, he'll probably be the ace of an NL team in a big city from day one. Pretty sweet deal when you'll get the kind of money he will. The Nationals would have passed on him if they didn't think they'd be able to sign him ... and remember whoever passed on Prior back in the '01 draft did exactly that.

He probably means JT Floyd.

I thought points were a good idea, but I'll defer to your judgment because you have two (2) points.

I politely suggest that you

I politely suggest that you get a seat in one of the handicapped-accessible sections. Because of the ADA lawsuit, the Big House has more wheelchair seats than the Athletic Department knows what to do with, and you'd have a clear line of sight, not to mention more legroom in a chair rather than on a bleacher.

Wait, did Bill Martin mean

Wait, did Bill Martin mean anything about the softball team I'm not getting? That they're strong? Perhaps that their two star pitchers are workhorses? Or is this just a blatant sexist comment?

Yeah, WVU definitely fails

Yeah, WVU definitely fails test #2 — people in West Virginia don't have televisions. Ba-zing!

Although I'm rooting for

Although I'm rooting for Detroit, I have a hard time believing that Wings fans have any right to wish for vengeance. Is four championships in the past 15 years not enough?

If there's anyone who *deserves* a win right now, it's my Capitals. (And yes, I'm still bitter about the sweep in '98)

Stop it guise, leave him a

Stop it guise, leave him a loan.

Of course they have a *right*

Of course they have a *right* to do it. No one is questioning that — this isn't Cuba.

The point is that there aren't good study facilities on the south side of campus, and there's this big modern facility that's virtually empty except during study tables. Why wouldn't they just open it up all other times? It makes sense...

All things considered, Odoms

All things considered, Odoms looked awesome last year. If Threet could have given him the ball in stride, he would have broken some serious yardage on screens. He was excellent on the wheel routes and managed to get open downfield. Yes, he dropped some balls, but he was a true freshman playing in the cold for the first time. It was inevitable. I'm excited to see what he can do this year — let alone for the next two years after that.

First Sheridan, then Paulus,

First Sheridan, then Paulus, now this? It just keeps getting worse.

Yeah, this is a pretty good

Yeah, this is a pretty good offer sheet — he's clearly not a first-choice for big programs, but about eight other BCS schools saw enough promise to offer him this early. If he wants to come to Michigan and buys into Rich Rod's system, he's worth taking. (Especially when we need defense and have extra scholarships.)

Jeez.

Jeez.

Corners will probably be

Corners will probably be Warren, Cissoko, Floyd, Turner.

I repeatedly heard from

I repeatedly heard from people covering the team that Trent and Rich Rod didn't get along particularly well, and that Trent had a fairly negative attitude regarding the coaching change. From what they told me, it was particularly telling that at the annual postseason banquet, when the seniors address their teammates, Trent thanked Lloyd — not Rich Rod. (All the other seniors thanked Rich Rod)

I don't know conclusively that Trent didn't buy in, but most rumors have a grain of truth, and I've consistently heard this one.

Morgan Trent. Oh yeah, and

Morgan Trent. Oh yeah, and also Morgan Trent.

I, for one, only read the

I, for one, only read the title of this thread, and I am appalled, APPALLED, that Rich Rod would recruit players so he can cut them. Who does he think he is, Nick Saban?

And Safari.

And Safari.

Regardless of who he'd like,

Regardless of who he'd like, it's hard to imagine a top-end quarterback joining the fray with three four-stars (Forcier, Robinson, Gardner) already committed. It's going to be Malik Stokes, not that there's anything wrong with him... Just wait for it.

Not exactly.

Not exactly.

In the year two-thousand ...

Yeah, getting pHD offers from

Yeah, getting pHD offers from schools like Harvard, MIT and CalTech is way more important than what some random stats nerds think about your skills.

What about, at the end of the

What about, at the end of the tunnel, the players run out onto the field through a giant inflatable wolverine that roars when they come through?

I saw Sheridan in Dennison

I saw Sheridan in Dennison today, using crutches with his lower leg/foot in a soft cast and a boot with a block 'M' on it. He was moving around pretty quickly, and actually putting weight on his right foot, though he clearly was favoring the left. Probably a hairline fracture of the fibula. He should be back to 100% within a couple months.

Not Stevie Brown.
