No shit

Manufacturing a nice pair of shorts with a simple design shouldn't be that fucking complicated.

I've boycotted Adidas gear since the first season UM signed with them because I bought 2 shirts and both of them had issues with the letters peeling off after just a few washes.

I also think Adidas just flat out makes the ugliest gear of any of the major companies.

I really hope they change companies when the contract expires.  I'm cool with either Nike or Under Armour.

Contract Someone mentioned his contract on a previous thread and I'm not sure why people get wrapped up in that. I don't care how much he got paid. The last 3 years wouldn't be any more acceptable had Hoke been one of the lowest paid coaches in CFB. Bottom line is he couldn't win football games so he had to go. Now I just hope they find the best coach they can who can win football games. That's all that matters. I don't give a rat's ass whether he's a "Michigan Man" or not.
Re: Weather

I understand the conditions yesterday were miserable but turnovers have been an issue for this team for much of the season.

They were dead last in the Big Ten in turnover margin before the first snap yesterday.  They had 5 turnovers a week ago on a bright sunny day without a sprinkle of rain.  It's not all about the weather.

If they are even thinking of an upset over the next couple of weeks against two really good teams, the offense cannot continue to cough the ball up.

Unfortunately, the defense and special teams aren't good enough to overcome those kinds of mistakes by the offense against strong opponents.

I think I've got a pretty good one

Spent the second half of last season in the hospital (a total of 5-1/2 months) and they didn't have ESPN or the Big Ten Network.

Missed several games as a result.

However, I was forced to go to the ER on a Sat afternoon but refused to go until after the game against Sparty.

True story.

Tuna doesn't like drafting receivers early So any legit receiver he drafts would have to be a sleeper in the middle rounds. Probably no sooner than the 3rd Round.
This is the third thread on Henne in the last 12 hours Tuna and Sparano are going to give Henne every chance to succeed, especially since they drafted him and ran John Beck out of town (who was the previous regime's 2nd Round pick in the 2007 draft). The Fins have a strong run game, but their receivers are mediocre and don't have any playmakers who can actually catch the ball unlike his days at Michigan. Ginn has playmaker speed, but he doesn't have much between the ears and has hands of stone. Hopefully, Henne's supporting cast will step up and carry some of the load.
TOP may be overrated But it's not completely irrelevant either when you consider this team's weaknesses on defense, especially their lack of depth on that side of the ball. I think the more time this defense spends off the field, the better for Michigan. However, this issue will become less critical as the defense improves and they get more reinforcements over the next couple of years.
Ginn is a joke And he's their #1 receiver. He dropped two passes yesterday thrown by Henne that would have been first downs.
He'll throw the ball to him Ginn just won't catch it. OSU alum aside, I was sickened to see the Dolphins draft him in the first place because it was a predictably terrible selection. You didn't have to be Nostradamus to see this bust coming a mile away. I still remember Dolphin fans booing the front office when they announced that Ginn was their guy. He's never going to be a go-to WR in the NFL. Not enough between the ears and he catches the ball like his hands are made of concrete.
Minor is the better player But Brown has played himself into a starting job for now with Minor's nagging ankle sprain. He's earned it. For the most part, it really doesn't matter. Neither guy is going to get 25+ touches a game like Mike Hart did. They'll split those carries in addition to Shaw and Smith. Regardless who starts, they need to run the ball more. They have the horses to do it and I was surprised they didn't pound the ball more against Indiana after the 1st Quarter when it was clearly working.
Um, yeah I'll believe it when RR confirms it. Until then, he's full of shit.
That might be a first I haven't heard too many Orgasmo references in the past.
Not concerned Give Gerg a break. He's not going anywhere. A big part of the problem IS the lack of talent as well as depth. We knew 9 months ago that this was going to be an issue all season and the offense was going to have to step up and carry the team to stay competitive week after week. Why are people shocked that it has so far turned out the way we anticipated? Although, we couldn't realistically expect this team to be 4-0 at this point going into Sparty Week. Can't blame the DC when you don't really have the personnel stepping up on defense and some walk ons are beating out the kids recruited to fill these positions. Hopefully, these guys will start to improve and turn things around as the season progresses. They've only played four games and won them all. Way too early for people to start handing Gerg his walking papers.
Agreed I can't stand Notre Dame but I have no problem with them winning a lot of games this season..... A.) It keeps Weis employed as the ND head coach B.) It makes Michigan's victory over them look that much better
I don't care what MSU's record is Next week is going to be a tough game. They have to execute a helluva lot better on both sides of the ball if they are going to win. It's not that I think Sparty is a good team, but playing on the road in a hostile environment is always a challenge and we'll have to see if Forcier comes back okay. Their execution was really poor today.
He was dinged against Eastern He wasn't dinged against ND. At least not that I recall.
Hmmmm I hope he's right. But we all know what we saw on the sidelines. Forcier wasn't faking the yell and supposed F-bomb when he got tapped on the shoulder. http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2009/09/26/tate-forcier-hurts-shoulder…
Gerg is doing fine Keep in mind the defense was going to be an issue all season given their lack of depth. It wouldn't matter if Buddy Ryan was their defensive coordinator right now. They'll get better but they need some of the underclassmen to step up.
Perhaps "slap" is not the best word It was probably closer to a "pat" on his shoulder. He didn't hit him hard, but Forcier clearly winced and yelled out. Sigh. I'm gonna have nightmares this week. I love Shoelace as much as the next guy, but Forcier is the difference between this team winning as few as 6 games and perhaps as many as 8 or 9.
Just watched the replay again It's definitely his shoulder. But he did throw a strike to Odoms on that last TD pass so he probably bruised it. I felt like cradling him in my arms like his mother so the bad people won't hit him anymore. It scares me every time he tucks the ball under and takes off.
I'm worried about Forcier He was out there at the end of the game, but you can clearly see that his right arm/elbow/shoulder was really bothering him. He got slapped on the back on the sidelines after his TD pass and he yelled out like Tom the cat after getting his tail caught in a mousetrap. This is going to be the big story of the week, unfortunately. As far as the game is concerned, they can learn from a game like this. Lots and lots of mistakes and bad execution yet they still found a way to pull it out.
I hope he doesn't play Let him rest up for another week. They'll need him more against MSU and Iowa than Indiana. Either way, I don't think he's going to see the field much today, if he plays at all.
Drake That kid has some ridiculous acceleration. He goes from zero to sixty faster than a Shelby Cobra, although he's not going to be the fastest top speed guy on the team. Shoelace isn't likely to be matched on that front for the next four years. Speed kills, man.
Marlon does have a point (no pun intended) I'm not exactly worried about my Mgopoint total by any means - but it is clearly evident that people here often negbang others simply because they disagree with their argument, whether it's a well reasoned argument or not. It's happened to me once or twice for sure. On the contrary, the most positive feedback I've ever had for a single comment on this board was a semi-juvenile post in which I called Rosenberg and Snyder "total douchebags." While my comment was certainly true based on the evidence we've gathered the past month regarding the Freep's witch hunt, I don't believe it resembled my most intelligent or well thought out argument since I've joined this blog. I think it's fair to say that if you don't always preach to the choir, your Mgopoints are going to take a hit at times. It's not a perfect system, but we'll all have to live with it.
Hmmmm No more food for you.
I graduated at Purdue Although I don't cheer for them. I've been a Michigan fan since I was a kid.
That's pretty harsh Especially when you consider he didn't have much help around him in the backfield. He spent most of the 2008 season running for his life and taking a lot of big shots. I would venture to guess that he'd be in a much better position to be successful this season with a real QB, an improved O-Line, and another offseason in the Barwis death camp.
Yes and No Brown and Minor both had injury issues a season ago, which is precisely why McGuffie got so much playing time. Minor is unquestionably their #1 back right now but he's essentially missed two games already and another one this weekend seems likely. Yes, he played the entire game against ND but he played very little against Eastern. They need Minor healthy and badly. But he can't help them much if his ankle continues to be an ongoing problem. I hope they do sit him this weekend. Brown and Co. are more than capable of handling the load. So McGuffie would have probably been the #2 back for three of the four games to start the season. There's a chance he could've been the #1 back in 2010 after Minor and Brown left.
Well..... I'm actually a Purdue University alum, but I've been a Michigan fan since I was a kid. I live in Indiana so Purdue was much closer to home. So if you're not a "true Michigan fan," I guess I'm not, either. Although if you cut me open, I'd bleed Maize and Blue.
Sigh Just think how much better the Michigan backfield would be right now if McGuffie had stayed. Nonetheless, I wish the kid luck. He was fun to watch.
No he isn't Unless Henne hurt himself last night holding the clipboard, there is nothing wrong with him.
Re: Henne Coincidentally, I'm both a Michigan fan and a Dolphins' fan. I haven't stopped vomiting since last night when time expired at the end of the 4th quarter. The plan since Pennington arrived was that Henne would be his successor and that hasn't changed. Pat White is basically out there for the Wildcat wrinkles and nothing else. He's nowhere near ready to be the primary backup. I believe Henne will get his chance this season. While Pennington is capable of handling the starting duties, he's won the Comeback Player of the Year TWICE in his career - so he has a history of inconsistency. So I expect Pennington to either go down at some point this season or get benched and Henne will probably end up starting at least a couple of games.
I believe the investigation I believe the investigation uncovered Rosenberg and Snyder as total douchebags. Of course, they didn't need to hire professionals to tell us that.
Yeah, posting entire articles Yeah, posting entire articles like that is prohibited. If you want to highlight a few lines here and there and post the link, that's okay. But the Freep will be coming after Brian next if they see an entire piece posted here. That's copyright infringement.
Jake Long a bust? Um, he did make the Pro Bowl last season in his rookie year. He didn't play well against Atlanta in Week 1, but he stepped up and played very well last night. In fact, the entire O-Line played very well as evidenced by their ability to run the ball at will against the Colts. You couldn't possibly be more misguided with your ridiculous title.
Re: Walk-ons My only concern about walk-ons is that too many of them are higher on the depth chart than guys who were actually recruited to fill those positions. It's not a knock against the walk-ons at all, it's more disappointment that the guys with more upside haven't stepped up as quickly as we hoped. Let's hope that starts to turn around over the next several weeks. EDIT: Brhino makes the same point.
Not to piss in your cheerios, but..... Michigan did beat a more talented ND team last week. And nobody is going to argue that Washington is more talented than the team they just beat on Saturday. Less talented teams beat superior opponents every week in this game.
All I gotta say is.... the Atari 2600 is better than both of them.
I have no dog in this race All I care about is wins on the field and bringing National Championships back to Ann Arbor. I love Forcier like everyone else. But if Robinson or Gardner beats him out at some point, well, then Michigan is going to have a deadly combination of QB depth.
Not concerned RR has a pretty good track record keeping his teams hungry against lesser opponents. And these Wolverines are hungry for some tasty Hoosiers.
Mainstream metal At the age of 35, it's amazing to me how much things have changed regarding heavy metal and mainstream America over the past 20-25 years. Most metal bands like AC/DC, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Guns and Roses, etc, etc. were considered the "Devil's music" or just plain old annoying as hell by mainstream America and, most notably, my parents when I was in grade school and all the way through high school. Now we hear these tunes played at every sporting event in the country as well as radio and TV advertisements. Hell, even school marching bands play them (ie: Iron Man by Black Sabbath). Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined such a change in people's views in aggressive music like metal. I'm a big fan of the 70s and 80s metal/hard rock - but they do need to change it up a bit. No song should be played more than once a game (for the exception of Hail to the Victors, of course!).
I heard the same thing RR just said a few minutes ago on the BTN postgame that Molk has a serious foot injury and it could be broken. He didn't confirm it, but RR didn't sound optimistic. Minor's ankle also acted up early. Sitting him next week against Indiana might be a really good idea. Now we need to build a Kevlar bubble and some armed guards to protect Forcier. I nearly had a heart attack when he went down as I'm sure most UM fans did.
Well, that sucks Losing out on both King and Olaniyan on consecutive days is not what we wanted to hear. But, as Rich Rod says, you recruit until the final bell. Maybe RR can cook up some more snake oil and lure some of these guys back. Ultimately, there is no better recruiting tool than wins on the field. Take care of business there and they won't have any problems getting other kids interested in coming to Ann Arbor.
Funny stuff The kid's mother probably hit daddy over the head with a frying pan when he got home from the game. The little guy is going to grow up hating the Canes after this traumatic experience.
This is just another example This is just another example of how wins and losses mean everything in this game. Very few people believed in RichRod or Forcier until the last couple of weeks. Now you even have Rich Eisen stating "I love you, Rich Rodriguez" on the NFL Network last night when Eisen himself was bitching and moaning a couple of weeks ago about RR and the Freep hatchet job. It's a little satisfying to sit back and watch the bandwagoners jump on board after finally discovering what we've known for a number of months. Unfortunately, it only takes a stumble or two for those same bandwagoners to turn on this team and RR - so they have to continue to focus one week at a time and give all the naysayers from the last 18 months a nice big shit burger to eat.
Well, Chengelis did promote Well, Chengelis did promote Sheridan as the starter in the opener a couple of months back before she had any real idea what Forcier and Robinson brought to the table. True Freshmen = Can't possibly start in the opener Sheridan had more experience but it was pretty clear long ago that RichRod was likely to go with Forcier, especially after his performance in the Spring Game and was taking reps with the first team throughout most of the summer.
Regarding Jon Conover Shouldn't you have to play to be named a captain? It's no big deal. I just find it kind of odd.
Hey, I love Forcier as much as any Michigan fan But getting a license plate like that is just creepy. That is, unless you're a 19 yr old girl, which would make you a stalker. Stardom has it's perks but it has it's downsides, too.
No Because winning cures all ills. That's just the way it is.
We need to stop this kind of stuff Let the kid play and do what he does best and forget about amping up his inner Joe Montana or Tom Brady. Lots and lots of football to be played in his career.
