Count me among those who think that somethings up with the next coach. Who are these sources and why are they coming out now? Why is this floating out there when its the opposite of what Schlissel and Hackett himself discussed initially. Something has to be up.
So yea. Harbaugh comin'.
|3 days 10 hours ago||Hoke's presser||
When asked to evaluate his program the last four years, Hoke deferred.
"I think I could, but I don't know if I will right here," Hoke said. "I don't think this is the right place for it.
"We'll have another press conference, I've got a feeling, sometime here."
They all know.

He can have the position for life if he can land Harbaugh.
AD shouldn't matter THIS much. Recent vintages at UM have made it a bigger issue than it has to be.
|1 week 9 hours ago||Transition||
One thing I'm sure of, Hoke will steer recent commits and prospects straight should he be asked to resigned. Hopefully that will help mitigate any transition costs.

I'm guessing you didn't see the Freep's OTHER sanctimonious piece on the Clark thing from Rochelle Riley. My eyes started to twitch while reading so I had to click away.

As a corrolary to MGoPrinciple Rule M, Chapter 0, Part 0, Subpart N which states that any change in a player's weight as listed in the first fall roster is assumed to be good; it is so accepted that any non-statement or non-denial by a potential coaching candidate is also assumed to be good; or to be near equivalent of acceptance of said position.

A more appropriate quote inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire would be, "Ann Arbor remembers and this mummer's farce is almost done. Michigan's son is home"
A pick of nits to be sure but if you're going to nerd, go 100%.

I really just want mgoblog to crash for a few hours only to return filled with unicorns, Muppets, and severe khakis.

Sticking with LaFell.
|1 week 4 days ago||Benjamin or LaFell||
Marshall is my WR1 so i'm left choosing between Kelvin Benjamin or Brandon Lafell. Leaning towards Lafell as he's less likely to tank.
|2 weeks 11 hours ago||Interesting||
When I couple your numbers with my feelingsball read on this team, it sure paints a picture for me of a lot of good players on a bad team. I guess we all sort of know that what with the dozen or so "CC" posts every day but I felt it worth mentioning.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Oooh, perfect||
This makes for great lunchtime reading-- just the right mix of gag reflexes and laughter. Mmm..that bite of ham sandwich tasted great both times. Thanks guys!
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Gardner||
When he does find an open guy, so often is the pass underthrown or too late. Couple that with being indecisive, staring down receivers and inconsistent wideout play...ugh.

"The next coach is already calling shots as to what needs to be done before his arrival."
I like what you're selling and would like to buy more. Seriously though, you state this casually and with certainly. What's your basis for that comment?
|3 weeks 3 days ago||"Balance"||
I think Schlissel's comments certainly can lead people to conclusions like that but he clearly understands the importance of football at Michigan and particularly its fans or else Dave Brandon is still AD.
I think Harbaugh's success at Stanford could be used as a rationalization for what would surely be a huge offer. Schlissel explicitly stated that he is looking for 'excellence' in his search for the next AD. So while a $7 Million/year coach certainly doesn't fit the balance suggested by Sam Webb and others, it certainly would require true excellence from the football program in the classroom and on the field.

Super tuscans, Chilean cabs, montepulciano. All of it tasting good today.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Halloween||
This seems like a good spot to share my latest plan for a Halloween costume. Pretty much everyone on the board should already have these items. No goofy makeup. No time wasted at Party City.
You're welcome to all the guys getting dragged to Halloween parties this weekend.

Gotta love that attitude.
|4 weeks 11 hours ago||Nerves||
I know little and less of S&C but perhaps interested and informed folks reading this thread can respond to a question I've had regarding injuries. You hear stories (myths?) about people being in accidents sustaining lesser injuries when they don't see an impact coming because their body doesn't tense up. That got me thinking, could being nervous or tense while competing in a football game make you more prone to injury? Whether you're an athlete or not, when you're nervous or tense there's a physical response-- everyone's felt it. So could that translate to a higher risk of injury on the football field?

The Boy in the Bubble reference gets a +1.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Wow||
Excellent perspective. Thanks so much for sharing. This should be a diary post.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Not going to undercut Hoke||
I think the most likely scenario is Nuss yanked Gardner because of his struggles during the game. Hoke wasn't "fully aware" of the change until after Morris played a snap and overruled Nuss, reinserting Gardner. This makes more sense than someone just changed their mind.
Edit: I knowingly misattributed "fully aware" here but the shoe fits.

Symptoms of a poorly coached team. Talent alone has allowed them to be competitive in certain facets of games but this program literally couldn't do less with what they have.

|5 weeks 6 days ago||The last transition||
The last transition did yield an 11-2 season with a Sugar Bowl win so there's that.
Brandon's handling of the last transition though, regardless of the Hoke hire, has a supporting role in the current struggles of the offense.
