i stand corrected. your fantasy team is a "major source of interest" to the entire michigan football fanbase. also, the other thread about posting fantasy football teams wasn't enough - we needed this.

this game could be the turning point for Michigan being truly "back." I'd hate for you to miss it.
never mind all the politics and anti-hype around this game. I will be watching in person and will be supporting players and coaches who love this program as much as I do.
you're paying attention to stuff that really doesn't matter. you are making a mistake not watching, but you have 5 days to reconsider.
it will be my first game in person in two years and I look forward to a glorious and tradition filled day only a few other campuses can match. come on over and we can go to the game together

This thread is another example of how he is so often overlooked. Wins with lesser recruits. Operates with class. Loyal to his program. Truly humble person.
He is to KSU what Bo is to Michigan.

He lived a good life and we all are mortal beings, but the downward trend of the program started when we lost Bo. I don't believe it's just a coincidence.

i wouldn't say 90%, but market reports show nike is still the dominant brand.
|38 weeks 6 days ago||You're contradicting youself.||
You're contradicting youself. First you say that shoe companies impact ingrecruting is false. now you say that it is a factor. No one is arguing that every recruit's decision is solely based on the shoe company.
Let's set aside the major football powers for now. Other college football programs without large budgets and product-only contracts with Nike still align themselves with Nike because of Nike's strong brand influence. in their recruiting pitch, they do play up the fact that they have nike prouducts. The major football powers will have other factors like facilities, education, tradition that should trump the logo on the shoe, but for some recruits, it's still a factor.
Another aspect that is not being discussed is that these shoe companies can help build the school brand. Oregon would not be where they are without Nike's help. Notre dame jumped to under armour with the expectation that UA will help market/build/maintain their brand. With a program like Michigan with so much tradition, we may not think much help is needed, but with so much competition, every little bit helps.
We want the University of Michigan football program to be sucessful, so for me the question isn't what logo do I want to wear for me, but what associations should Michigan make to bring the highest chance of success? Every detail matters.
|38 weeks 6 days ago||yes. in my line of work,||
in my line of work, i've spoken with college football players and in casual conversation they have said the brand did have an effect on their college choice.
georgia knows the brand has an impact and proudly displays the nike swoosh on their twitter page: https://twitter.com/footballuga
of course, not every recruit cares about the apparel/footwear brand, but to say it doesn't have an impact on recruiting is an uninformed statement.

Here are ar the stats from last year:
Looks like you have a decent shot.
My time was too long ago to be relevant, but do make sure that you have a plan for how to repay the out-of-state tuition costs, like getting a degree in readily employable major like someone else mentioned. You don't want to be in $100,000 in debt without a job, no matter how much you love Michigan. Don't forget it's an economic decision as well.
With your success in academics, you can also consider Michigan as a graduate school option. Yes, it delays gratification, but you can get assistanceships (teaching, research) that makes it much more afforable for out of state students. Grants, loans, and scholarships got me through undergrad at Michigan, but research assisantship paid for my grad school.
I'm not trying to talk you out of your dream of reaching Michigan, just trying to show that there are other routes.

nike and adi factories and labor practices are not that different - they use similar materials in similar labor markets at similiar cost. adi made promises that nike couldn't and wouldn't make (see section 8 of the sponsorship agreement now that it's been made public).
|42 weeks 10 hours ago||Michigan's switch to Adidas||
Michigan's switch to Adidas in 2007 wasn't because of money as Nike was willing to match the dollar offer. Adi made concessions that Nike wouldn't, which tilted Michigan towards Adi. The sports marketing climate was also different back then which motivated Adi to take a major team from Nike, and Michigan was it. The climate will obviously be different when the current contract is up and this ND-UA deal will definitely have an influence.

"“We really need our apparel partner to embrace that concept and to treat us differently. It sounds selfish but it’s just about being a national brand. There’s one approach when you’re primarily a regional brand and a great regional brand, but we’re not. We’re a national brand and need a partner who can help fuel that.” - Notre Dame AD
This probably means that Michigan will go with Nike or Adi, with UA not being an option in 2016. Notre Dame wouldn't let Michigan one-up them again. The rivalry continues off the field...
