100% correct. You have to…

100% correct. You have to try to end the game on that last 3rd down. Making Ohio State burn their last TO is a non-factor.

Peak Sufjan from 2003-2005 …

Peak Sufjan from 2003-2005 (Michigan, Swans, Illinois).

It was the 2006 Open…

It was the 2006 Open Championship at Hoylake.

Not to mention the Zapruder film segments of the 2022 M-OSU game floating around today.

If he keeps the ball on…

If he keeps the ball on second down he has an easy sprint to the end zone around the left side.

Yeah those 3rd and 4th down…

Yeah those 3rd and 4th down play calls were head scratchers.

Where are you seeing those…

Where are you seeing those lines? On DraftKings it opened at Michigan +7 (+100) and is now Michigan +7.5 (-105).  The highest I’ve seen it is Michigan +7.5 (+100).

“Even Michigan's successful…

“Even Michigan's successful teams under Harbaugh haven't done well in situations like this, and this team did.”

Exactly. See Iowa 2016.

With a three-headed drum…

With a three-headed drum attack (now 4) to match our three-headed RB attack.

Agree on that. I’ve only seen -23 for that game though.

Agreed, it’s actually a good…

Agreed, it’s actually a good song. I think most die hards like it, just not the album it’s on (Pablo Honey).  Even Thom and Jonny have come around on it after hating it for a long time.

Radiohead is my favorite band but there are a few songs I hate, mostly when Thom gets too glitchy. For example, Pull/Pulk Revolving Doors (Ammesiac), The Gloaming (Hail To The Thief), and Feral (The King of Limbs).

1996 was the first year but that was the first OT game Nebraska had played. I’m sure they would have gone for 2 if there had been no OT though.

This version from…

This version from Fingerlings 2, with Nora  O’Connor on backing vocals and a sublime last 1:15, is my favorite. “Join his entourage, give him a foot massage.”

Exactly. I’ve seen people…

Exactly. I’ve seen people say they’d rather go 1-11 and beat Ohio State than go 11-1 and lose to Ohio State. That mindset makes zero sense to me.

That was the first of…

That was the first year of Overtime. If that pass is caught, do they go for 2 or kick the PAT and go to OT?

Definitely watch it. It’s…

Definitely watch it. It’s one of the better 30 for 30’s.

Agreed. Ohio State was…

Agreed. Ohio State was favored by 9 in 1995 and 17 in 1996. Surprisingly, we were actually favored by 1 in 1993.

This was one of my biggest…

This was one of my biggest discoveries on the internet 20 years ago: nobody knows how to spell “lose.” Why is this so widespread?

Agreed on those bands, plus…

Agreed on those bands, plus I would add XTC, The Clash, Billy Bragg, The Replacements, and Camper Van Beethoven to your list.

His first play after Shea…

His first play after Shea was injured on the last series he could have waltzed for 20 yards on the right side.

Oh it's correct in the…

Oh it's correct in the podcast just not in the summary.  I hadn't listened yet when I (double) posted that.

I watched the mayhem at…

I watched the mayhem at South U. and Church from the corner of China Gate.  The Stucchi's Ice Cream on that corner and the Comerica Bank at South U. and East U. did not fare well that night.

That play was ugly right up…

That play was ugly right up to the point that Higgins got the rebound and put it back in. I'm not sure if we had a timeout left, but if we did we didn't use it after Illinois made a shot to tie it.  Mills got the ball in the corner with about 7 seconds left and had to throw up a prayer which was long. Illinois fans will say Higgins was over the back but....NO.

A few weeks later we were playing a pickup game on the courts near Packard and Higgins walked up and asked if he could join us.  At one point he got a breakaway with only me between him and a monster dunk.  He gave me a look that said "step aside son."  I stepped aside.

Agreed, Green Street Meats…

Agreed, Green Street Meats then Parlor is a good progression.

Parlor will have the best…

Parlor will have the best crowd in the West Loop.  West End has become a ghost town but will be more crowded this weekend.  Also, on Saturday most bars will be packed early due to the parade.

The 10 minutes without a…

The 10 minutes without a stoppage was in the first OT of Game 5. The Hawks won in 2OT.  I believe Q called that the best OT playoff hockey he had seen.  It certainly was the best (and as you said, most terrifying) playoff OT I've seen.  I watched it on my phone in a hotel in Ireland at 4am.

"One thing is clear: this is…

"One thing is clear: this is not a Nussmeier situation. Gattis:

"When Coach Harbaugh called, it kind of caught me off guard because I had just left a meeting with Nick Saban getting my butt chewed out for 20 minutes telling him I was leaving and he was trying to get me to stay. It did not go over well."

Nussmeier was being shopped. Saban probably wasn't planning to lose Locksley, Gattis, and Dan Enos one after another."

Nussmeier was foisted on us.  Gattis was not.

He punched an ABC cameraman…

He punched an ABC cameraman during the 1977 Michigan game, threw a punch at a reporter after a 1959 game against USC, and shoved a camera in a photographer's face before the 1973 Rose Bowl.  So yeah, not out of character.

100% agree. The rule either…

100% agree. The rule either needs to go or the penalty needs to be changed to a yardage penalty (maybe 25 yards instead of the normal 15 for a personal foul) from an ejection.  You can still eject the player if it's obvious there was intent to injure. I know that's subjective but it's better than the current horrible targeting roulette regime.

Mallory too or did he end up not joining?

“This is like when Dawson…

“This is like when Dawson and Joey spent like FOREVER just circling each other you know what let's just move on.”

That’s gold Jerry. Gold.

Good Call If we win that game we could have won the NC even with the Illinois 3-3 tie because Oklahoma had one loss. Of course we would have had to beat UCLA in the Rose Bowl instead of Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl.
For Bo’s Tenure.... ...I would choose the 1972 Rose Bowl. If we win that game Bo has an undefeated season early on and the “Bo can’t win a bowl game” narrative never happens.

We wouldn’t have won the National Championship though because of Nebraska.
Miami finished 12-0... ....and beat Florida State, who beat us 51-31 that season. So I think we would have finished #2 in both polls. Washington was undefeated. That’s why they split with Miami.
ND Spread

I’ve seen Michigan -1 in most places too but a friend said he got +7 in Vegas last week (not sure what casino). Michigan +7 is insane for that game.

Vintage Bo Was Great

However it was just one game (Iowa) of the 1971 season.

1980

Would have been interesting to see the Andy Cannavino redemption play out, the 22 quarter no TD streak, and the birth of the six pack defense for the Purdue game.

And on the downside, the reaction to the gut punch Harry Oliver FG to end the ND game and the hangover loss to South Carolina and George Rogers the next week.

Duke I’m surprised they’ve only been a #1 seed once in that span.
Seton Was Beaten I was on top of China Garden that night. Think I still have that t-shirt somewhere too.

I wonder where that guy who was climbing that traffic light in the rain is today.
Comparison to Hoke You know the writer is clueless when they compare Harbaugh’s teams’ results to Hoke’s. If we lose to ND 31-0 next fall maybe this comparison will carry more weight.

“Harbaugh’s on-field results also have been similar to Hoke’s. The Wolverines slipped from back-to-back 10-3 seasons to 8-5 in 2017. Harbaugh has won two more games than Hoke did through three seasons, but Hoke also finished higher than third in his division — twice, in fact."
Fair enough. But it’s also OK for us to point out that they look like idiots.
You’re Locked When You Place The Bet The spread/odds on most sports bets are fixed when the bet is placed. In Parimutuel betting e.g. in horse racing the odds aren’t fixed until all bets are placed.

The reason you wouldn’t wait until the end is the line can go against you too. If you think that line is going up (I’ve seen 11 not 13) and you wanted to bet on OSU you’d lock 11 points right now.
Good Point

Also, they haven't been to South Bend since 2012 (vs. Stanford), and before that it was the 2005 USC game, so that may be a factor
