Well, good luck to him. Must be a lean year for TE's in the draft so he can make some hay? IMHO he is not ready, still developing some hands, and, it is much tougher to catch the ball in the NFL. The switch to TE was a smart decision, and, he has great size and measurable.
I loved Bo, however, realistically, Bo was a great Big 10 coach when the BIG was only OSU and Mich when both were mirror images of each other. Neither Bo or Woody would adapt their approach. As soon as Hayden Fry came along, with QB's that could throw, Iowa was right there with both of them, often beating them both. The Pac 8/10 coaches most years showed how faster, but less physical and talented teams with more multi dimensional offenses could prove superior.
Watching Michigan in any big game under Harbaugh now is like watching Bo's teams struggle in soooo many Rose Bowls.
JH as of now is a good HC, not great HC, has not lived up to his reputation, especially as an offensive coach. Still has plenty of time, however, has to keep adapting. No one is firing JH for 10-3 seasons.
I found it astounding how bad the clock management was by Michigan. It did not lose them the game, but it was emblematic of how dysfunctional the offense appeared today. How a HC with NFL experience wastes so much time when playing from behind is surprising..
The game meant way more to Florida than to Michigan.... Of course it seems like that is way to frequently the case.
This staff has been out coached and out game planned in all critical games except PSU this year. Don Browns defenses have had some horrific meltdowns at the worst times.
Harbaugh is still the best fit running the show-for now. He needs to hire an OC and let him develop an offense and some game plans that give the offense a chance.
Defense was bad on critical plays. The Florida staff severely out schemed and out coached Michigan on both sides.
What is more concerning is how poor the offensive game plans are and how poorly the staff is leveraging its offensive talent. McCaffrey will push Patterson next year.
God time to vent. His defenses are absolutely overrated. No matter that Gary and Bush were out or what the season long stats say, against any good teams, and, bad teams with a decent QB and WR, his defenses get beat repeatedly. Once he gives up some passes, and, pulls the safeties back, teams run very well.
I would say the DB coach has to go. Our very talented DBs got beat like a drum these last two games. Our back seven pass defense has been poor for some time, masked by beating up one teams with poor O lines where he can blitz effectively.
All that venting on the defense though overlooks the fact the the offense regressed to O'Korn'ish levels. What kind of game plan was that? Why are they not running Patterson, thats his game, not a pocket passer. The dogged persistence and commitment to an ineffective run inside run game one;y leads too the defense being on the field way too much.
Yep, the lustre is off Don Brown and his staff however, the biggest problem with M football is that they still do not have an offense.
Don Brown gets another year. Pep H has to go and a real O coordinator brought in.
He played poorly today, however, I think the offensive game plan was suspect, and, we don’t have receivers that catch balls that hit their hands, let alone the tough catches our opponents WRs make.
This offense is worse than it was in Sept and will not be effective next year without substantial player and coaching improvement.
We do not make plays, SC made plays against a very tough defense. Looked like Mich scout team offense.
Harbaugh did not put the ball on the ground, Harbaugh did not throw three straight pics. No matter the play calling bitches, take away even just three of those and we win the game.
Harbaugh didn't miss the tackles against FSU. Kickoff team doesn't miss three tackles we win the bowl game.
Harbaugh didn't screw up the 1'st down call against OSU. That call, plus a couple blatantly missed PI calls, and we beat the Bucks.
Conservative game plan for Iowa, but we were a first down away from winning.
Are their issues with this young team, yes.
Get real, we couldn't do any better than Harbaugh.
This team is good and is going to get better. Make the CFP, not Likely. Win the BIG, tough with a div loss. But, this team and season is not done.
Coaches not using him creatively. Probably afraid of injury, because with his legs M should be making MSU chase and defend him to slow down their LBs, help the O line and open up other options.
Bad play calling and game plan needs to be thrown out, not working.
MSU in backfield almost every play. Got to let Okorn roll out and make RPO decision.
Too easy to defend right now, no run game cause we keep going inside.
State more physical and stunning our OL.
Last TO was a hustle mistake, Isaacs was bad, bad technique. Game has changed totally since that TO. A senior back should have had both arms in that ball.
Lots of missed blocks, OL not picking up blitzes, OC is expecting RBs to beat unblocked defenders which they cannot do, running plays designed to go directly into pile ups, tepid QB play, missed catches, inoppurtune penalties. I think they were shell shocked at how fast and physical AF defense was.
This group has potential, but needs more experience, needs a leader on the field and the O line has to pick it up.
Honestly, it looks a lot like a Borges/Nussmeier offense right now w/o the Gardner /Robinson turnovers.
- A young team looked young and inexperienced, especially on offense.
- Despite it being the home opener, so much energy went into the big time match up with Florida, and subsequent over positive press clippings, this young squad looked past Cincy.
-Cincy had a handful of good players and a good d line who made plays(and almost made a few more!)
- our defense would play well
Some were not
- the offense would regress, as opposed to making the big " first to second game " leap.
- Speight has to be better, and, he has to LEAD this team. I am a Speight supporter, however, he has got to step it up a lot or we will be in struggles with a bunch of teams.
- the crowd was not helpful, there was no home field advantage after the first few minutes.
Lots of season and upside with this squad, but they have to learn and improve from what happened in this game.
Pick the best five no matter what. Simple as that.
However, with so many new starters I expect some shuffling between number 5,6 & maybe the 7'th.
I expect hiccups against Fla because I would expect them to twist, stunt, and blitz aka Don Brown to test and rattle the new guys.
They watched the Orange Bowl tape and saw FSU befuddle an experienced line for three quarters. I expect Fla to try the same thing until Speight burns them a few times.
This jersey could work with blue pants with some maize accent, but an all maize, to me, will look bizarre.
While all different shades, Cal, Mizzou, WV , Oregon and Baylor have done the all yellow/gold/whatever and none of them looked better than the teams base unis. Just my opinion.
Been spinning for days. I assume there was a ton of traffic because of the Najee frenzy and Army AA game, but before I lost site, response times were horrible.
I hope he comes, he is clearly a very talented kid, but we have many fine recruits. If he passes on a full ride to Michigan, a likely starting rotation spot, an NFL coach, and, a Michigan degree, well, he just doesn't want to be here.
Michigan football will move on as it has for a long time. Those who stay will be champions.
Good come back win today. Lots of bad, lots of good. Colorado with starting QB good club, not ND or Ok.
Need to improve a lot and I think we will.
Best thing about today- this team was taught rankings mean nothing. They now know they have to get better( and healthy), yet still won a hard fought game.
I was glad to see that Wis and Colorado played well. I believe it will work in our favor to have teams that can push us. I have been worried the early season slate was too easy.
I still like us big over PSU and Colorado, however, they are clearly no pushovers and our O and D will be tested.
Wiscy shapes up to be a serious too 25 opponent. I think our O is much better than LSUs, however, Wiscy can play and, as always has stout lines on both sides. Unless they regress, that has now become a quality win opportunity.
So, no easy street, and, I think the team will develop much better emotionally and from a improvement perspective because of it.
It's been proven this guy knew all along what was happening since the 70's and chose to protect his assistant over victims. Yet, still the fan base is in delusional denial.
I can't believe the NCAA or Big Ten is not stepping in and saying " What are you thinking"
One of my degrees is from EMU. I hope they keep football, but could justify moving to 1A or D2.
Just too hard to get people interested with AA and UM literally next door. So many commuters as undergrads as well. I went to Michigan games and visited friends at other colleges on weekends. Not to mention Detroit pro teams.
Too expensive and too many schools in DI.
EMU is one of many schools where students subsidize sports. Clearly, this has to be reviewed not just at EMU, but any school that is losing money and charging fees and higher tuition to support varsity sports.
State aid is a joke now for public universities, so money sucking varsity sports only compound the cost of education. One might even question supporting athletic scholarships at the DII level if the sports can't pay there or the AD can't support other required sports.
EMU competes well in other sports, and, I agree that Creighton is a good coach, but,
frankly, part of the football issue is a self fulfilling prophesy. What fans support losing programs? Not many, even schools with tremendous FB history like Michigan had big drop offs in support with a few bad years.
We would probably be surprised how many universities are in this boat.
Glad Shane looked good. Watching some of the video clips from the week he seemed to have the least accurate arm of all the QBs.
I still expect Okorn to emerge, and, Speight is just a bug dude(and he can move pretty well, better than a guy like Navarre), but perhaps Shane is more determined.
Four days in, one in pads, probably does not mean much, however, I would think we should know the #1 or # 1 and 1A QB by spring game.
Harbaugh probably won't commit till game week prep at the end of fall camp. But, you never know....

The defense is fine, the offense is no threat to any opponent as it currently stands.
Defense was on field in bad situations way too many times this year.
This offense is worse than it was in Sept and will not be effective next year without substantial player and coaching improvement.

Keep improving and winning.
He needs reps, game speed reps. As do his skill players with him.
The bye week hurt this team, would have been better if Okorn could have gotten more experience, but, that's not the way it was.
Give the guy a chance.

Ok, now..
OL was dominated in the first half, played better in second. Even Cole and Bredeson.
WRs look raw and lack experience(Perry is exception)
Mediocre QBs do not winning games
Play calling has to get better
Higdon looks like the lead back. Isaac and Evans are ok, but not game breakers.
Okorn looked like he was a freshman
Weather didn't help
No where to go but up after a performance like this
Not enough playmakers to beat Wis, PSU or OSU.
Think 8-4, 7-5 and nothing Bowl.
Where is Denard to Gallon when we need them??
Shame to waste these great defenses.
Bad play calling and game plan needs to be thrown out, not working.

Lay off Hoke. He just was not ready for a HC job like M, and, other than Mattison, did not build a strong enough staff.
He is a strong, ethical coach and excellent recruiter.

Not a fan of messing with the best uniform in college football.
Just win.
A little surprised JH is doing this.
I was at the Harbaugh / Kolesar game. What a play.

Go Blue !
Go somewhere and start young man, you have earned it.
Very disappointing performance even if we pull it out. Cmon seniors.
Looking ahead? Iowa hangover?
I just think we have struggled with decent teams.
Cmon guys, pick it up for your QB!
Need to improve a lot and I think we will.

Backs up many views that too many " amateurs" are pampered brats. Out all night partying? Wow, why are they there??
Really tarnishes USA team rep as well.

Now, he was among the greatest Michigan backs ever.
Hopefully, this was not something said in confidence that is gonna piss Gary or his Mom off.
