Have to agree with you

The fact that he's a baller is just a bonus to me he's probably been our best recruiter this year!

Do you remember the under armour

All star competition a couple years ago I'm pretty sure our boy Devin also could heave one 80+ yards. I think a lot of people forget how good of an arm he has and IMO he's the next big thing and will fit nicely in this system. All the boy needs is some snaps.

Agreed sir 110%

These predictions are fun to read but at the end of the day they are just that. The Bama team we see next year will more than likely look a lot different than the team we seen last. Look how well auburn faired after a nt. Its anybody's game/guess!

Sorry

It would be Oregon instead of Stanford

My guess would be

Bama/ Stanford and Lsu/ Ok st either way we probably end up watching the "rerun" anyway but at least there's not "as much" controversy with the outcome. It would have to work better most years than what we have in place right now.

Can't argue with you there

Unless of course we happened to be ranked 5th that year.

What is

Considered a satisfactory playoff system? IMO a plus 1 is ideal I don't like the idea of completely abandoning the bowls and would hate the thought of college football being like the NFL. If you finish the season undefeated the last few games don't matter....thoughts?

Id like

to see how this plays out too they are all good in their own skill set. Id say the battle for starting position will be intense. I think Smiths lack of success had alot to do with the play calling hes a stout runner I seen him upend MM in practice or spring game cant remember which but the boys got some moves. How many times did RR send him on a suicide mission straight up the middle same play over and over...

Although

It is fair to say Hoke and co. are working around the clock were you on the sight a few days ago when fans were lined up on ledges and bridges around the country. Even though we havent actually signed many of these recriuts momentum has definately swayed and there are alot more intrests in the program that was definatly lacking last week. It may be premature but i understand the enthusiasim.

Hope your wrong

about the whole square peg round hole thing. But i agree and am glad you pointed out the TOP I think that has been overlooked on alot of these posts and it will be very advantagous for our defense. Dont really think the offense will suffer tremendously though Denard may not be Andrew Luck but he is a better than average passer, I realize alot of his success comes from defenses loading the box to stop him from running. AB made it clear in his interview they were going to try to develop his passing game and if the running game improves(it will) he can set the same stage with p/a. Dont sell them short just yet.

RR

RR also tried to do this with no real defense to speak of. With Hoke/Mattison working on the D and the the depth problem there I think we're potetially going to be a threat on both sides of the ball. Many returning starters next year who will be improved and a ST coach who can hopefully turn our kicking game around. Dont see any reason why they couldnt succeed.

Hello Dick

I never said the guy was too old as a matter of fact I cant think of another DC id take over GM. All i was sayin was JH could be thinking of giving the younger asst. in waiting a chance. I know the history of these men Hoke/Mattison coaching with the Harbaughs and believe Harbaugh wants GM to be be happy but it wouldve never happened this way if JH hadnt seen things he liked out of GMs replacement. Thats all Im sayin.

I cant blame RR

for ST the ball security was a big issue at first but he seemed to take care of that. Meskos departure definatly hurt but Hagerup was highly recruited as well as Gibbons and SB. I sat on the 40 yd line at this years bowl game and watched them drill several 30+ yd field goals during the warm up and watched in dismay when the kicking unit took the field on a 4th and 4 somewhere inside the 20! Couldnt possibly imagine how frustrating that must of been for RR seeing them make a high percentage of field goals all week in practice and screw the pooch on game day.

This is all speculation

at this point but fun none the less. I look for Toussaint/ Hopkins to have breakout years. I loved what  I seen from both of them last year besides ball security. Shouldnt be a problem next year look at how horrible odums was year before last and hes a pimp now. I think Denard will run a considerable amount less than last year which in turn will make it a lot more effective when he does im guessing he still gets close to a grand on the ground and alot more through the air. Everyone from ESPN to MGO is freaking out about whats going to happen on offense how will Borges use ALL that talent... Seriously recieving core is really strong we're really deep at rb, O line is monsterous and we have two pretty good qbs(passing). I would really like to see more of DG definatly not the runner Shoelace is but i think he has a bigger arm he should be a better fit in an AB system in a couple years. The B1G should fear us maybe they dont it yet but they soon will. GO BLUE!

wish

i had enough points to upvote this

In spite

of what offense we run I think we will execute better when Denard learns to make the reads and when nothing is there use his legs. Nobody has a clue what kind of offense were going to run although theres been alot of good ideas. The pistol could definately work if coached properly along with a dozen other schemes. We just need to change it up enough that defenses cant figure it out and shut it down like they eventually did last year. We would be crazy to think that this staff wouldnt utilize Denards super human abilities alothough i dont expect to see him run as often as he did last year. Hes young and very intelligent if he makes as much progress next year as he did the season before in the off season...

that makes two of us

I was completely agaisnt the Hoke hire. I wanted Harbaugh, Gruden, any high profile OC/DC over Hoke. With the way things are falling into place...man it feels good to admit i was wrong! Very excited about the the next season, the staff, and even THIS ( yeah i said it) this recruiting class. The way things are shaping up im betting we steal a few last min guys.

Your right

The defense was sold short...i mean it was bad on a historic level but theres talent there. I expect Matty will do big things with the rerurning starters. My god if he just teaches them solid tackling we will be much improved right? My prediction was the defense would be better this year anyway but now im even less worried about the matter. Do you think Matty could teach SB how to make a 30 yd field goal?

Not a Ravens Fan

but i follow them a little bit and it seems suspect to me as well. Mostly because of his age not ability i think JH is probably looking more to the future and wanted the younger assistant to take over. Now im definately not slighting the hire im very excited about this especially since while he was at UM our D was only giving up an average of 17 pts a game! Cant remeber the last time i was excited about the defensive side of the ball! Does anyone know how his D holds up against uptempo spread offenses?

Nice

Best one Ive heard all day.

I certianly wouldnt say

I certianly wouldnt say back but it would be a vast improvement. I was reffering to the "backwards progress" to pro style. Just because we are going back to our old scheme doesnt mean we cant be more than mediocre or cant win bowl games/ national titles. To qoute DB Hoke isnt very polished and hasnt had alot of pr work, obviously he looked like a deer in the headlights at the press confrence. But i believed everthing he said and more importantly i think he did too! Hoke the sexxy pick not really but definately very passionate and intense. I dont think we as fans should put a cieling on Hokes career before they even play their first game.

come on

It was never meant to be an argument, just a joke about the press confress. I realize we are all under diress as a result of this years recruiting class but lighten up. I never meant for anyone to read into it that Crawford couldnt be used, hes a beast, just that we were most certianly going to suffer casualties with the coaching change. Everyone is freaking out and pointing fingers because of the recruits that we lost, that we may have never had in the fisrt place. No one seems to be giving any credit for retaining current players an even bigger feat in my opinion.

not sure

this tried to post twice??

Moving forward

I look for Hopkins and/or Toussaint to explode this year. Nothin but love for Smith and Shaw but i think the former backs are more well suited for the offense Hoke will try to employ. Excited to see them on the field, loved the idea of the spread but utterly sick of seeing smith get stuffed on EVERY 1st down. RR pissed me off by not using Hopkins/Toussaint more they did well what litle bit they were on the field.

Surprised?

Everyone knew crawford was gone there were rumours before RR was fired. No doubt it sucks but Hoke isnt going to be looking for the same kind of players RR was. It is admirable to keep the the players you were left with and try to work your offense/defense around them but to recruit more guys that dont fit your scheme is unheard of. Hokes players are going to be big and tough both physically and mentally, and have a fanatical love for the game and what is michigan and accountability. Im not so sure Hoke wanted to touch Crawford like he does the other kids. Seriously Id say Hoke pulls a few solid recruits this year 15+ or so given the time he has to work with but next year we have a top 20 recruiting class.

Are we speaking English?

I hope not sounds foriegn to me. He was a really good dc when he had that NFL front 7. Even at at that he was powerless against the spread he couldnt even scheme against app state someone please tell me this is a cruel joke No habla.

Roundtree

Roundtree has the potential to be one of the best recievers to come out of michigan. He was a little frustrating to watch in the last few games but so was the rest of the team. His yards after the catch(when made) are particularly impressive to me. I think it goes back to how young they are or possibly missed assignments on the coaching staff. Either way i think our recieving core is full of talent one of the few areas we dont have to worry about.

I have to agree

I have to agree with Token_Sparty on this one, who wanted Tressel when he was at youngstown? And im sooo sick of hearing all the comparisons of Hoke and Carr why because he was in Carrs staff, because hes a pro style guy? Lets see, Harbaughs a pro style guy and wanted to be on Carrs staff and was turned down. I bet we wouldnt be hearing all this if Harbaugh wouldve got the job. In fact Harbaugh reminds me alot of Carr w/o that conservative edge, pro style is still an effective way to win games case in point the orange bowl this year. Stanford blew up Techs version of the spread and mobile qb and hung with the mighty ducks for a half.  Now i have to admit i did not want to see RR and his explosive offense go i feel if given a couple more years he couldve possibly turned things around but we had to have a middle of the pack D which we didnt. RR was not DBs hire and i think DB wants to leave his footprint on the program by hiring the coach that turned the program around...Hoke is a gamble but i like the odds. I for one dont want to be part of the division that utimately caused RR to fail and if Hoke turns out to be another Carr (with balls and plays aggresively) we will be more than ok we will be the leaders and the best.

No doubt

No doubt this recruiting class is looking like a train wreck but i cant blame Hoke for this hes only been there a week. He still has time and hes passed my first test with flying colors by retaining the current players(denard!!). I think we'll be ok if  we get a good kicker and a good DC, theres a lot of young guys on the team but next year is do or die!
