What makes you think they even care if people show up? It's free, and it's a practice (coaches have said this many times over). I don't know why people are acting like it's a benefit to the program or it makes a big difference one way or the other. I mean, sure, I would like it if it were more interesting and a game-like atmosphere, but that's not really what they're trying to do with it, so why be mad about it?

This is why i don't like basketball as much as football. If it's a great game in football, it's entertaining and terrifying. This is just terrifying.

Is it just me or are our guys getting mugged and as soon as we touch one of them it's a foul?

What good is a national championship that isn't hard to earn? It'd be like "earning" a degree with someone else doing your school work.

Objectively, where have we "lacked development" anywhere besides the OL? Replace the 2013 OL with the 2011 OL and I think that we win 10 games in 2013. The rest of the team was competent to pretty darn good. The OL just overshadowed everything. We had a dangerous QB/WR combo that didnt always show through because of the OL. Our defense was pretty good until asked to stop drive after drive on short fields. If the OL last year is even average, Michigan is a top 15ish team in all likelihood.

For the record, I graduated in 2011. I cared zero percent about WiFi in the stadium. Is it really that different now?

This is a bit get off my lawn-ish, but can people really not go to a game and ignore their phone for 3 and a half hours? It was annoying to not be able to text friends and relatives about the game but the last thing Michigan Stadium and humanity needs is everyone staring at Facebook in the stands.

However much you think Comcast sucks, Time Warner tops their suckage by a wide margin. I've had experience with both, and Time Warner is by far the worst company I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. You have to try to have as terrible of customer support as they do.

I'm more concerned about post-post-Mattison, myself. Who is going to fill in after Mattison's successor retires?

I would love a 9-10 win year. We do have a lot of potential losses though (@ND, @MSU, @OSU) not to mention a couple of potentiall rough games at home. This whole season hinges on if the OL can get any better while losing two NFL tackles. IF the line gets to average, I see about 9 wins. But I think that's a fairly large if.

The line doesn't appear to be much stronger... for 2014, when none of these potential recruits will see the field or be on a college campus. Once those top OL classes that Hoke signed when he got here mature, the line SHOULD be one of the best in the nation. Combine that with Nussmeier. That's what we should be selling recruits.

I just recently moved to the area and I haven't really seen or heard much of anything about the rivalry. It definitely seems like less of a big deal to everyone around here than the michigan-osu rivalry.

Is it just me or is GRIII really turning it on this year? Sorry if this is a late observation, I haven't really been paying too much attention to shootyhoops.

Worst outcome 10-2? Boy, I hope you're right. I do think next year will be better than 2013, but there are still plenty of losable games on the schedule. I'm going to set my expectations for an 8-4 year.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||I assume you're talking about||
I assume you're talking about 2011? I hate to break it to you, but exactly zero linemen from that game will be on the team next year. So in essence, that was already building toward "absolutely fucking nothing."
|14 weeks 6 days ago||Perspective||
Dantonio didn't look all that great after his third year, going 6-7 after 7-6 and 8-5 seasons (actually, not bad for MSU standards). He didn't start putting it together until the 4th season and beyond, and it remains to be seen what Hoke can do from here on out. I don't think Hoke will have a 10 win season next year, but the trend will almost certainly be up. We still have an extremely young team, and as it matures we *should* get a lot better with the talent level of the last few classes, if these coaches are worth half their salt. Dantonio has a good thing going, obviously, with less than stellar recruiting classes, but that doesn't mean that Hoke is dead in the water.

who keeps track of this stuff?
|15 weeks 6 hours ago||It's not that guys are||
It's not that guys are getting softer, it's that we haven't replaced guys like Mike Martin and Ryan Van Bergen adequately. A lot of that is due to - you guessed it - lack of depth in the trenches.
EDIT: I see that you're talkingostly about offense, but the same thing applies there. If we had a guy like Molk the last two years, I really believe the run game is not a problem. The number one problem on this team is lack experienced talent in the trenches. Fix that, you fix the running game, you fix the team. This is why I'm not ready to say goodbye to Borges - it's hard (read: damn near impossible) to call a competent offense when you can't run the ball.

Well then. Thank god this football season is mercifully coming to an end.
2014 is the year, baby!
Edit: that was a joke. 7-5 every year from here on out until proven otherwise.
