Meh. In a world where there are only Power 5 conference there are no cupcake games. I wouldn't be terribly sad if Division 1A trimmed down a bit.

Those first two are virtual certainties. So we have that going for us. The third one is key, and we won't know that until he does or doesn't come here. There are reasons to believe either way what he wants to do.

I don't really see much of a drop off after the first year. One thing that Hoke has done well is stock the roster every year with talent. That's not going anywhere. Harbaugh would be able to actually develop said talent, and therefore keep the floor at 8 wins, with more being much more likely.
This is different than previous changes where we had to completely rebuild. We actually have talent and depth, the next coach just has to utilize it. The biggest concern going forward is QB. I think Morris has what it takes to be good, but the current staff aren't the ones yo take him there.

I stand by the team. That doesn't mean I have to watch them get slaughtered by our biggest rival who is miles ahead of where we are with an equally young team.
I'm not wishy washy. You know what's worse than not being excited to watch your terrible dumpster fire of a team get slaughtered? Imposing your rules for fandom on others. You can watch the game, and I'm glad you will, but don't judge others who don't do it.

Cut the "true fan" bullcrap. There are very few reasons to be excited for the game this year and even fewer reasons to think we have a chance at pulling off the upset. I will watch, and I will root for the kids and even Hoke to win so he can save some face, but I wouldn't be opposed to skipping this one out either.

While I agree with your premise, I don't think it would be reasonable to ask the fanbase to be psyched about Schiano, until he proves anything. Looking at his resume, I don't think he's what UM should be aiming for for the next coach. If we want to be a top football school, we damn well better do what is necessary to get a top coach, which Schiano is decidedly not.

What you just described here is exactly the argument I made for Hoke when he was first hired. Minus the NFL part, obviously.

The age thing doesn't matter, in my mind. Even if we only get 5 good years out of him that would be a huge shot in the arm for this program. And the fading part is not exactly substantiated either. He played in a NC game no more than 2 years ago, and has a really young team.
As for needing someone fresh, that doesn't always work out either, as we all know.

I don't get the anti-Miles people. He's been consistently good to great in the toughest division in all of football. Why wouldn't you want him, providing we don't get Harbaugh?

Apathy is the best defense against a shitty football team.

Probably not, but we're all sitting here talking about it, which is a win for them. Get a guy to talk about something people are interested in, and they will read it no matter what he says.

|4 days 20 hours ago||I don't think Hoke does much||
I don't think Hoke does much coaching of QBs, or at all. But that is irrelevant in this conversation. The current QB coaching has not returned good results, and has seen our QB play regress over the last 3 years. Nuss/Borges/whomever won't be here next year, and we will hopefully have someone who knows how to coach QBs (i.e. Harbaugh).
|4 days 20 hours ago||I agree. I said Stitt||
I agree. I said Stitt specifically because there is a fairly large following of people who support him, but my overall point is that one of the things we will completely lose if we hire a lesser known guy is recruiting prowess. We haven't been good in ages, and if we take a shot on a small time coach, it will be hard to bring recruits in, no matter how good he may be.

My hope is that the deficiency at QB is not a talent issue, but a coaching issue, and that Harbaugh can come in and coach Morris up to be a good to great QB.
|4 days 20 hours ago||Well the issue is that it||
Well the issue is that it remains to be seen if we get a good coach. If we get, say, Bob Stitt, no one will want to come play here.

At this point I think we should assume that anyone committed to UM will probably decommit unless we get a Harbaugh or Miles.

This guy isn't an alum, he's obviously a buckeye or sparty troll. I'm going to guess sparty, the poking at UM alums perceived "sense of superiority" seems to be more their flavor.

Ughhhhh I had drafted DRob in both of my leagues in the last round but I dropped him around week 5 in both of them. Really regretting that decision.

THE_KNOWLEDGE. He promises Big Ten championships every year, and gets his foot put in his mouth when he falls laughably short.
|5 days 53 min ago||What is the point of this?||
What is the point of this? Stepping down or not, he's not going to be coaching here after this year. Getting rid of him/him stepping down before the OSU game does absolutely nothing. His time here after that will be short.

|5 days 1 hour ago||Thanks for the input. Let me||
Thanks for the input. Let me throw a third option at you for WR - Greg Jennings. He's got 10 or more points 3 of the last 4 games and is going up against Green Bay. He is very consistent but doesn't have a lot of upside. He could get a few garbage time plays when the game gets ugly though.
You've almost convinced me to go with Hurns, but I thought I'd throw Greg in the mix as well.
|5 days 1 hour ago||If the game is close, Joique||
If the game is close, Joique could be a pretty good play. He's been looking very solid running the ball. Not a lot of upside though. I think he's a better play than Sankey, who hasn't done much of anything all year.
|5 days 1 hour ago||I've got||
WR: Jarvis Landry (@Den) OR Allen Hurns (vs Ind) - Hurns is a huge boom or bust type guy, but Indiana has been giving up tons of points to WRs. Hurns is obviously the riskier option here, but could pay off. This is a 0.5 PPR league.
Flex: Chris Ivory (@Buf) OR Pierre Thomas (vs Bal) OR Charles Sims (@Chi) - Ivory has been pretty consistently putting up ~10 pts per game, but is facing a stout Buffalo defense. Pierre Thomas is just coming off of injury but has the potential to put up huge points if healthy. Sims is also coming back from injury and hasn't really proven anything yet, but is going up against a terrible Chicago team.
What say you?
|5 days 1 hour ago||You sure it's the weather,||
You sure it's the weather, and not Detroit itself? Last I checked, New England dosn't have trouble signing free agents, and their weather isn't any better than ours.
However, I do see your point, that if you have two contracts available that are equal except option A is in Buffalo and options B is in Miami, most people will take Miami. My overall point is that Jim is in the bay area, which has kind of shitty weather as well. If he decides not to come to Michigan because of the weather, that'd be pretty ridiculous.
