Side note, and serious question, is that Abbey Road of Beatles fame? It really looks similar, but the type of cars is making me think no (i.e. not European-looking cars).

I have a hard time believing thee fanbase contributed to RRs many screw ups while at UM. Or Hoke's, for that matter. We just need a good coach with a good staff

The Michigan football highlight of the year is good ole Dave getting canned.

|1 week 6 days ago||Whoa, relax buddy. I wasn't||
Whoa, relax buddy. I wasn't commenting on your specific suggestion, rather commenting on the sheer number of these threads that get thrown out there focusing on guys who will never be realistically considered for the job.
I get that the point of the cc threads is for discussion but it all gets diluted when just about any coach with a verifiable pulse gets a thread.
|1 week 6 days ago||These threads basically boil||
These threads basically boil down to "Hey! Here's this guy who coaches football and it turns out that's EXACTLY what we are looking for. How about it guys?"
On that note, I suggest the guy from Remember the Titans.

Their job depends on the athletic department making money, which depends on football success. These guys aren't stupid. They will spend the money to get the right coach. If they don't, they shouldn't have the job in the first place.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||We risk the cupboard emptying||
We risk the cupboard emptying itself out without a guy that has a lot of credibility to his name. A lot of college players want to go to the NFL, and they want to be coached by a guy who can get them there. Will a guy from the Colorado school of mines be able to do that? In their eyes, probably not.
This is the major draw a Miles has over a no-name guy from a mining school. He's a proven commodity, and players and recruits will recognize that immediately.
Genius or not, we cannot miss on this coaching hire, and I'm not convinvced a Stitt is the right move.
Edit: but I don't think this has a lot to do with the AD search. A guy from Dartmouth is completely capable of handing Jim Harbaugh a large check.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Why not? Even if they win||
Why not? Even if they win out, this year was still a massive failure. If Harbaugh is available (looking like he will be) and he's willing to come coach (which according to his dad he is) why in the hell would you pass up on him for a coach that has lost at least 5 games the past three years?

Just about every single coach in division 1 football runs a system that has yielded championships. There is more than one way to get things done.

I don't have a problem with the way she worded it. Brian/Ace didn't verify anything other than that it would have been hard to fake. Were the emails real? Most likely, but they shouldn't be presented as undoubtedly true.

I thought it looked like Dantonio, really. So would that make him Bark Dantini?
|3 weeks 5 days ago||Because we don't want to||
Because we don't want to "take a fucking shot," we don't want an experiment, another potentially wasted 3-5 years, we want a proven successful coach at the FBS level. Which is exactly what Les Miles is, whether you like it or not.

|5 weeks 1 hour ago||That 500 yards of offense got||
That 500 yards of offense got us a total of 24 points. Not terrible, but not "#2 offense in the nation" great. Yards=/=points, unfortunately for that 2010 squad. And the Wisconsin defense let up 28 points, but the offense was scoreless in the first half and didn't score until the game was out of hand.
So that and the fact that the offense got absolutely shut down in 3 other games tells me that Michigan's offense wasn't trule number 2 in the nation that year. Sorry, but I don't buy it.
|5 weeks 1 day ago||To me, that just points out a||
To me, that just points out a flaw in FEI. The #2 offense in the nation doesn't completely fall apart against better defenses, as it did in 2010. MSU, OSU, Mississippi State, and to a lesser extent Wisconsin and even ND held our offense in check effectively that year. That's nearly half of the teams on the schedule.
The 2010 offense was explosive, sure, but not consistently good. Which brings me to the point that there's no way in hell I believe our defense is 11th in the Big Ten. They haven't been great, sure, 11th is a stretch in my opinion.
FEI can be a good tool, but it shouldn't be taken as gospel. I'm an engineer, so I'm all for removing human bias and digging into the numbers, but you also need a sanity check sometimes. Perhaps Rutgers is ranked #23 in defense because they've played PSU, Michigan, Howard, and Tulane, with their only "good" competition being Washington State and Navy. Coincidentally, or perhaps not, they gave up 38 to WSU and 24 to Navy.

FYI, this was not a marketing ploy but a way to recognize a UM student/alumni start up company. It would have been a really cool way to give a nod to the academic part of the university.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||Youth was a problem for Rich||
Youth was a problem for Rich Rod's defense, sure, but it's not like they were getting better each year. They were on a downward trend with no signs of recovery.
Youth was also a problem for the offensive line last year. And I'm not claiming that the offensive line is in the clear or even good right now, but they are demonstratively better this year.
My only point is that the player development argument holds little water. We clearly saw defensive improvement, and we are clearly seeing offensive improvement this year. QB play is the only area where I could possibly see an argument for lack of development, but now that we have Nussmeier we will have to wait and see how that is affected.
The original argument was that Hoke wasn't successful with "his own players," implying that he did not develop them at all. Never mind that he was more successful with them than RR ever was.
