Maybe we should make a sticky for these and consolidate... This is getting out of hand.

I just wanted to point out that their punt returner's name is Boobie. That is all.
|1 day 13 hours ago||The goal is to only play one||
The goal is to only play one QB all year, is it not? I meant 3rd or 4th starter.
|1 day 13 hours ago||But we do have a known entity||
But we do have a known entity at quarterback. And actually, a pretty well-known one. Jake Rudock is certainly in the upper half of B1G QBs, and you could make an argument for 3rd or 4th.

I don't get the hype for Penn State this year. I think it's mostly based on the defense and Hackenberg, but that didn't get them much the past couple years. Their offensive line was about as bad as our 2013 line, and I don't see them improving enough to be a major threat. Hackenberg's stats were garbage last year, and while most of that wasn't his fault, I don't see them turning a corner this year.

I know you're probably not being serious, but for fuck's sake man. We sound like MSU.

49ers are irrelevant for a decade, Harbaugh walks in, takes them to 3 straight NFC championships and a Superbowl, Harbaugh leaves, is replaced by a no-name and the team immediately implodes, fans glad Harbaugh is gone.
Sports are wierd.

What are you, Dave Brandon's brother? I don't think anyone can objectively say Dave Brandon wasn't the worst thing to happen to Michigan football over the last 5 years.
|4 days 12 hours ago||To be clear, I've been saying||
To be clear, I've been saying 8-4 is my expectation for quite a while. I just think that going higher than that is a lot more likely than ending up worse than 8-4. So while I don't think wojo is wrong saying that 8-4 is reasonable, I would also say that 8-4 should pretty much be the floor of reasonable predictions.
EDIT: I am basing a bit of my expectations on the 2011-2012 turnaround of OSU. That is a prime example of what coaching can do in terms of turning a talented team around. The obvious difference is that OSU had a future all American QB, but I don't think the comparison is far off other than that.
|4 days 13 hours ago||Maybe I have my homer glasses||
Maybe I have my homer glasses on, but anyone who is saying 8-4 is "reasonable" is being very conservative. We have one of the most talented teams in the conference (granted, they have yet to show it) and one if the best coaches in the country. 8-4 is not only reasonable, it's pretty much expected and anyone who knows how good the defense should be and the potential of the OL and running backs should know that higher than 8-4 is a very good possibility.
|4 days 13 hours ago||I think the evidence points||
I think the evidence points to the previous staff being an absolutely terrible offensive staff (which, duh). The guys on the offensive line who were coached under Rich Rod were able to produce results in 2011 and 2012, and after that the wheels came off. What could have been indeed, had we had a competent OL coach and offensive coordinator. In retrospect, Hoke and Rich Rod were dichotomous in that they both fielded very good teams on one side of the field, and absolutely terrible on the other side. That was their fatal flaw, they had an incomplete coaching ability on their staff.

Ditto, and Rich Rod as well. Actually I quit on Rich Rod around the Wisconsin game in 2010 and I quit on Hoke around Maryland. But close enough.

Why do we even bother with pressers? They never reveal anything interesting or informative.
|1 week 1 day ago||I've read Three and Out, and||
I've read Three and Out, and the only thing I can remember Carr doing to "undermine" Rich Rod is telling players he would support them if they chose to leave the program. And like I said, had a couple more players stuck around, it wouldn't have made a whole hell of a lot of difference in 2008 anyhow. Ryan Mallet would not have stuck around either way, and he was the biggest key to the season.
Is there anything that I'm forgetting that Carr did that directly affected the football team?
|1 week 1 day ago||The overall conclusion here||
The overall conclusion here should be that we should have hired a competent AD in 2010, who then would have hired Harbaugh. Or hell, we should have hired Harbaugh in 2008. If we had done that, he may have moved on by now, but the last 7 years would have gone much smoother and we'd be in a lot better shape than we are now, regardless of who the coach in 2015 would be.
|1 week 1 day ago||While I agree that Carr was||
While I agree that Carr was less than accepting of Rich Rod's tenure, what in the hell would support from Carr have done for Rich Rod? Would we have won more games? Probably not. Would Rich Rod have been given another year or two? Probably not, since Dave Brandon was the AD and Dave Brandon does what Dave Brandon wants. Would the administration have given Rich Rod more money for a DC? Maybe, but I have my doubts.
I guess that the point I'm trying to make is that Lloyd had no part whatsoever in Rich Rod's demise. Maybe the attrition would have been slightly better had he been supportive, but that wouldn't have saved that 2008 season and didn't matter after that.
|1 week 2 days ago||They were 11-3 last year,||
They were 11-3 last year, lost by 2 to Florida State in the ACC championship game, and convincingly beat Mississppi State in their bowl game (who had been ranked top 10 all season). Not sure what they have in the way of returning starters, but they were a top 15ish team last year, so seeing them that high is not surprising.
EDIT: Oops, this was meant as a reply to the guy above who asked what Georgia Tech's deal was.

I had a problem with the background process "Runtime Broker" hogging CPU constantly. Long story short, I did a "Windows Reset," which reinstalled Windows while keeping all of my files. It ended up working. I later figured out that it was due to a few of the default apps on the start menu not being able to download their information from Microsoft's server for whatever reason, which made some sort of infinite loop run in the background.

Jason Segel used to hang out at The Arena during shooting for The Five Year engagement. I was working next door at Blue Tractor at the time. I never got to talk to him, but one of the girls that worked there said he was nice but really boring.
Also when I was very young (10 or so) I THINK I saw George Lucas at some hotel in Chicago, but never was able to verify if it was actually him. My 10 year old brain probably wasn't spot-on for recognizing people at the time.
