3 days 2 hours ago Overarching point is...

we are a hell of a lot higher than we have been in years past, even if it doesn't hold up until the bell rings.  I, for one, will take this trend as it continues to traject up, up, and up...

2 weeks 4 days ago Always a shame to see a young person die, however;

may their music also RIP.

3 weeks 4 days ago The Mattison Factor

This kid is looking to play ball beyond college: he's comin to Michigan.  Write it down.

I'm glad to see that Hoke is involved in the recruiting process...

14 weeks 2 days ago Rapture guy

looks like he just crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side of the Shawshank State Prison retaining fence.  Holy shit...

15 weeks 15 hours ago My wife watches it...

...and it is downright offensive.  It's kind of like watching the emmys, or the golden globes, or the screen actor's guild award- a bunch of self-important assholes staring down their noses at the little people.

15 weeks 3 days ago I'll second that...

I don't have a lot of time to check on new threads; so, often I miss relevant info because irrelevant threads have pushed them off the board.  Then, I have to take more time to search for what everyone else seems to already know.  So, yeah, it may help more than a few of us to be a bit picky about the substance of new threads...

16 weeks 6 days ago The man drove me NUTS...

with his obstinate coaching philosophy.  However, I was always proud to be a Michigan fan when he was coach due to the character he developed in his players and thus his teams.  Great to see him appointed to this committee.

17 weeks 13 hours ago Ole Miss vs. Mississippi "border" battle...

18 weeks 3 hours ago This is precisely the kind of shit...

...that needs NOT to be said for the next couple of years.

18 weeks 5 days ago The only facet of their team

that was given any hope in having success against Alabama was their defensive line.  Their defensive line was utterly destroyed.

Their quarterback was forced to pass: he can't pass.

Because their quarterback can't pass, their offense will perpetually suffer from a lack of identity (which sounds familiar).

They were completely out-game-planned: not only was their defense physically manhandled, they appeared lost the entire game.

Their best player (who was the Heisman runner-up) was a non-factor, and his weaknesses were exposed, so much so that many are already saying his draft stock is plummeting.

Their best player is leaving.

Sometimes the ball just bounces the right way, and it did many times for ND this year. Stringing together wins only goes so far. When a team like this goes up against a team with a solid philosophy and the means to acheive their philosophy, they will be (and were) dooooomed.

Notre Dame 9-4 to 8-5 next year (and we will deal one of those losses to them)

18 weeks 5 days ago This would have sounded much better...

... if he said that his program needs to take at least 21 steps, possibly as many as 35 steps in the development of their program to compete with Alabama; points my ass.  The only thing that stopped Alabama was Alabama, but only in the sense of momentum, like when you were a kid running downhill you'd go too fast and fall... only you didn't stop, you just kept rolling forward.  That is exactly what last night looked like to me.

This was ND's last, best shot for some time to come, because their luck ran out last night.

18 weeks 6 days ago About the best outcome we could hope for

is that the game goes down to the wire in a nail-biter and Alabama wins on a historically shitty call by the refs. Thus: 1) Alabama doesn't deserve it, and; 2) the Notre Dame arrogance is displaced by the Notre Dame whine (equally annoying, yes, but the latter leaves a better after-taste). Short of a meteor, that's all I've got.

19 weeks 22 min ago And, don't forget...

... there are two sides to every Schwartz.

19 weeks 5 days ago Neutralized

Spurrier's non-mention of Clowney at the end of the game was very telling; he mentioned several other players as well. Media hype gave this one to Clowney. With the exception of essentially one play (that we handed to him), he was a non-factor.

21 weeks 5 days ago ...

21 weeks 5 days ago No, douche...

My post was to implore the powers that be not to give "weapons" (i.e. the power to post) to "monkeys" (I'll let you fill this one in), so as to avoid unknowingly "shooting" (writing posts that do nothing but inflame the masses) the blog to shit.

And by the way, lighten up, Francis.

21 weeks 5 days ago Ummmm...

I'm on a blog.  About Michigan sports.  And that video is related directly to my stated purpose.  If you found the video in bad taste then that is due to YOUR projections, NOT any insinuation of mine. One had nothing to do with the other... that is, until you made it so.  If that were always the case, there really isn't anything that anyone couldn't find subjectively distasteful.

21 weeks 5 days ago Agreed. Up the points. Us newbies given more than we can handle

21 weeks 6 days ago This is a good post...

...to illustrate the need for patience for the next couple of years.  At least this time, IMO, it feels like the staff is re-building the program.  In other words, not only are they bringing in high-quality football players, the staff also appears to be focused on character.  Perhaps this will help with the attrition issues we are now seeing..(?)

22 weeks 2 days ago What he said...

24 weeks 6 days ago What does 46-16 have to do with having an obtuse mentality?

Perhaps if we would not have been so stubborn about doing certain things on the field, we could have gone 54-8, or even better.  Regardless of where you are on the suck-o-meter,  THAT, would have sucked less.  Guaranteed.

25 weeks 1 hour ago I really hope you're right...

Because I was getting flashbacks of early 2000s "run your head through a brick wall" stubborness.  None of us want to go through that again.

27 weeks 15 hours ago I was there

and he did look like a douche.  Replace the clip board with a PBR and you could superimpose his antics into any frat house living room on Northwestern's campus (more likely a Heineken).  Raising his hands triumphantly like he or his team actually did something on the play.  Dildo-brains

27 weeks 5 days ago Really no different than a baseball player

at bat.  Sometimes they claim they're "just not seeing the ball", and so they don't hit it.  Same thing in basketball.  Call them "slumps".  In football nomenclature  they say "he's not seeing the field well".  Its not meant to be taken literally; its more of a timing issue.  I'm saying Fitz doesn't appear to see the play/blocking develop in front of him; or, he's being impatient and not letting the play/blocking develop, hence the slamming into the backs of his linemen; or, he's just not seeing the field well.  From what I've read, notwithstanding the oline changes, there seems to be a growing consensus that he doesn't look like the same runner as last year.  I agree.  But, he's not slower; he's not smaller; he's not older... therefore, its likely a timing/vision issue.

27 weeks 6 days ago Combination of things, but

I think the run game has suffered because 1) the line is not quite as good as they were last year, and; 2) opposing teams have NO respect for our pass game and sell out to stop the run.

But, I still think the biggest factor is Fitz' vision.  It looks like he has blinders on sometimes and he just runs into the pile.  Granted, he does get swallowed up in the backfield sometimes because of poor blocking, but there are other times when there is a hole or a cutback lane and he completely misses it.  Norfleet does the same thing on kickoff returns...

28 weeks 1 day ago Admittedly, they were pretty sweet, but...

I think the problem is that these things show a lack of tradtion, and these frequent, perpetual changes forestall the start of any new ones. Before the modern era, i.e. free agency in pro sports, we all identified with the players on a particular team and (most importantly for a kid) their uniforms.  For me, my current team alliances were formed when I was a kid, and without a doubt the winged maize and blue helmets immediately grabbed my eye when I was 5 years old and I've been a fan ever since (obviously now I can give a little more substance to my reasons for being a fan).  We cheer for "teams", and in the era of comings and goings one of the only constants remaining is their uniforms.  Sometimes, change is good; but, IMO better to be subtle and measured... I for one do not want to wake up tomorrow and see Notre Dame's neon pixie dust sprinkled all over our winged helmets.
