“The player development is the main thing I like (about Michigan),” Williams said. “You can see that they develop their players. They get them in the gym and they work them hard. And their hard work pays off.”

The prevailing wisdom right now is that McGary received a first round guarantee from a team.

I don't think you can characterize not being a complete and total bigot as merely "being PC". The fact of the matter is, this wasn't a personal business of his, it is a franchise. And if he is causing publicity issues for the NBA, the expectation should be that he needs to go.

Freedom of Speech is in no way applicable to anything but the government. If you were an owner of a restaurant franchise, say a mcdonalds, and were to publicly say similar things then you'd be forced out too.

I really hope he goes first round so all the idiots calling him an idiot will pipe down.

It sure is entertaining to look back at those comments.
Between the always available for comment, pessimistic Michigan fans, and the the trash talking State fans, I'm not sure which is more amusing considering the final result.

As they should be. This discussion is bringing out the portion of the Michigan fanbase I try not to talk with in real life. So much holier than thou, elitest, bullshit in this thread.

If only basketball had a polling system you could finish in the top five for. Then we could make a direct comparison.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||It's not equal footing,||
It's not equal footing, though. Having a Rose Bowl trophy next to your National Championship trophy isn't taking away from the National Championship at all. The two banners hanging from the rafters don't have to invite comparisons between the two, and in almost all cases they won't.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||Sorry, it's still not making||
Sorry, it's still not making sense. If Rutgers or Maryland come in next year and are (Okay this is a bit unrealistic) somehow really good, should they not be able to hang their championship banners because it's their first year? When are you in a conference long enough to hang banners? It's sports, half the accoplishments are based on seemingly meaningless qualifiers, that doesn't make them any less impressive or worthy, though. Especially in this case.
In any case, that's not the point. I guess I don't really see what your problem is with hanging Final Four banners, it's a huge accomplishment for the team and the program. It's really not like Michigan as a program is "above it" either. No team is and there's a reason for that.
|17 weeks 1 day ago||That's a dumb analogy. What||
That's a dumb analogy. What if there were no conferences and all the teams just played whoever they pleased? I guess we shouldn't hang up conference championship banners either, because you can arbitrarily take away the requirements to win.

Based on this game alone, the obvious answer is offensive rebounding, but I don't think they've been a really good team at that this year.
|19 weeks 1 day ago||I trust it to a point.||
I trust it to a point. Louisvilles SoS is marginally better than WSUs, If Wichita had five losses noone would be clamoring to give them a one seed. Yes, they have blown out a lot of the bad teams they have played, but I don't really feel like they've had to play outside their comfort zone this year.

You're wrong and that's alright, I'll even treat you with minimum snark about it. A favor it doesn't seem likely I'll have returned to me. Here's some reading for you:
This passage may be of particular interest:
"Advancements in the technology the committee uses makes planning for contingencies much easier than it used to be. If the ACC (possibly Duke and/or North Carolina pushing for a 1-seed) or (especially) the later Big Ten final (where Michigan State and/or Ohio State could also be seeking a 1-seed) have a matchup in place by Saturday night that could impact the overall seeds, the committee would have multiple contingency brackets in place, and then use the one that's applicable based on Sunday's results."

This isn't correct. The commitee will have contigency brackets in place based on all possible outcomes of tomorrows games. Whether we win or lose is absolutely important tomorrow.

Him saying "And he filled his open roster spots with McDonald's All-America types"
Is a little misleading. Although he doesn't outright say it, the inference is that the roster is full of players who were McDonald's All-Americans, when in reality nobody on the team was. The rest of his argument has merit, but I don't like that.
