Henne, Gutierrez, Richards. Crazy.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||I thought the same thing||
I thought, "why and how is the B10 like a BYE, like most of the teams are beatable? OK."
The much better was to phrase the question would be something like: "you know, if the B1G were stock, I'd rate it was a BUY. Would you agree?"
Harbaugh still would have answered something like, "well I never would have sold...", but at least there's no confusion.
|8 weeks 4 days ago||I couldn't agree more||
Also agree that it wasn't bad or painful until the end.
Cowherd sensed a wee little bit of awkwardness and rather than react like a pro, panicked and shut it down like a chump. Just another lame chapter in Cowherd's lame show.

"Take care of your teeth". Seriously.

So true, and can really keep you out of trouble. Say it to my kids all the time.

See what you hit, hit what you see.
I'd say the horse did a pretty good job there ....

1) I completely endorse OT threads like this - it's why I come to mgoblog frankly. I'm not just a sport douche.
2) Considering the median household income of an american family, and that this blog is not THAT far above it, we can say 180K is deemed wealthy by most (maybe not in LA)
Score 1 for Team 529. There's a reason this savings vehicle was created

I'm pondering if you've seen BYU play football lately. Like Utah, they'd probably have beaten us more times than not in the last 10 years.
|28 weeks 11 hours ago||Contact sports||
You mean like every single sport offered to kids? Is it intuitive that kids should not play soccer, basketball, baseball, or even climb on monkey-bars? I've coached youth sports in all of those sports across three children, and the contact in other sports is just as significant as football. In fact, that is one of the first things I tell my teams while coaching soccer and basketball.
Kids bang heads running full speed at each other all the time in soccer. Kids fall and hit the back of their head in basketball often (happened to one of my boys last weekend). How about an errant pitch to the helmet in baseball - those 10 yr old pitchers don't have much accuracy yet. These would all be of the sub-concussive variety the OP says are most dangerous.
So what should we do, pull everyone off the fields until they're 12? Seriously.

God forbid we discuss actual athletic events here. It's college basketball season, fergodsakes.
This is a great bit of research by Alex, which consumed a hulluva lot of time, and tells us how far our boys need to improve to make the tourney, with historical precedence.
Keep up the great work Alex, and please more college basketball.

Plus, bonus C-Webb footage

Of course we'll soon have a team that wins AND wins the right way. Devin was good for the program. He just wasn't a good QB. Some people can't wrap their heads around that.

Who you calling spotty-lipped?
|50 weeks 5 days ago||Hi Kirk, Lloyd here...||
Hey, now that your boy is out of school...
|50 weeks 5 days ago||I attended both||
Went to UM for undergrad and GT for grad, both in engineering. Have worked in industry with grads from Berkeley, Stanford, etc., and helped with recruiting trips. I can assure you that Georgia Tech is every bit the school as the others. Once your in the top 10-20, it's more about the student.
|52 weeks 22 hours ago||terrible commentary overall||
from the introductory comments you knew we were in trouble. I think espn really blew this game overall.
- no starting lineups for either team
|1 year 5 weeks ago||I agree with Shaw 100%||
Stipend and tuition are in fact payments. This agreement is known in advance of the relationship and contract being bonded.
Let's pretend the student is a world-class <insert specialization here> researcher. Does that student now also deserve a bigger stipend/contract than his/her peer student, for the x years they remain doing the research. Or are they simply building their resume to get a kick-ass job when they've graduated. What's wrong with the age-old apprenticeship model, or is our society now too focused on immediate gratification/reward to tolerate that anymore?
|1 year 6 weeks ago||Big Dog||
The most dominant B10 player I've seen in decades is still Glenn Robinson II, aka Big Dog. That guy was just money - inside and mid-range was great. Calbert Cheaney prob should be in the top 5 too.
Does Brian Cardinal get honorable mention for figring out how to play 8 straight years?

Are where it's at for me. I would argue it's for the more mature drinker if anything, while the newbies tend to flock to the big beers.
But I'm growing weary of the those big beers (high alc, bitter). I've been there and done that. I don't need to feel like maybe I've been over-served after just a couple beers. I want to drink 3 or 4 and not have a headache in the morning.
I've brewed almost everything over the last dozen years, and I grow Cascade hops that I can dry-hop any time I feel like it, but you always go back to good ol' "drinkability"...
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Expansion||
As others have said, like it or not, expansion and TV market is the new reality. I'm in favor of rotating every 3rd year into the east/mid-atlantic region.
And you still can't beat Chicago as an all-around destination. Indy is Chicago's little brother.
|1 year 16 weeks ago||Good ol' days indeed||
Up until a few years ago I always felt confident against sparty, regardless of the rankings. We always had better athletes across the board, and our coaching was more consistent. I really miss those days.
We're coming back slowly and surely though - This year the two teams should be equally matched, which is better than I've felt the last 5-6 years.
We need another W in EL.

If only there were some calculation where one could financially calculate the Net Present Value of two options given a set of assumptions... oh well...

|1 year 21 weeks ago||Exactly||
I was in high school with Frieder, college with Fisher, purple haze through the aughts, and now sweet relief. I watched all of these teams religiously, some live and alot on TV.
Frieder won with talent - period. I don't think anyone would call him a superior coach, so to have him #1 seems silly. 90s B10 hoops was just as good as the 80s (both were incredibly high quality basketball throughout the B10, along with the Big East and then the ACC slowly becoming superior by the mid-90s IMO).
Fisher was and is a great coach, and the 90s were awesome, and yes the fab five, but god dammit he's responsible for the f'in sinkhole that swallowed UM hoops for the next 10 years, which we suffered through year after year, through Ellerbe and Amaker. Dear lord those were terrible, terrible years.
It may be true that Beilein hasn't been around long enough. But if he keeps this up for only 2 more years, he is all alone as our best coach, and it won't be close.
|1 year 21 weeks ago||1 little knit-pick||
It was fun to relive that last UM possession. LeVert was definitely beast-mode. However, the article fails to mention that Stauskas flipped the ball back to Walton for the 3rd shot, a missed 3 before the tip-in.
Otherwise, yeah I agree, great article.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||I wonder too||
we dont seem to ever recruit the freak athlete project with long wingspan who can simply block shots and rebound everything. Most good programs do seem to target those guys - Cuse, Louisville, UConn come to mind right away.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||execution||
there's plenty of room for criticizing our inbounds play across the board. it's related to our general lack of toughness IMO. how many times have we needed TOs to get the ball inbound? We dont set picks well, and sometimes we dint even try.

there's enough gray area here, simply due to her drunkenness, that a legal conviction of rape is not likely.
However, there's enough in the police report for anyone with horse sense to know that Gibbons was an ass hole from the first time they met, and did the wrong thing on that evening. It is clearly misconduct from a university perspective, and Lewan's subsequent threats are absolutely reprehensible.
