One counterexample:  high level soccer.  Because of the running clock and season ending tie-breaker rules (total +/- in goals is very important), running up the score is encouraged in a few cases and at worst is shrugged off.  I don't know if it's better or worse than the Big 4 American sports but it's interesting to think about.

I feel this deeply.  I'm saying I'll be calmer now...but ask me again when M loses a game on a missed FG or dropped pass and see how I do.  

There's a chance 2023 goes down as "the last college football season."  Not saying it will be, not saying I want it to be, but with all the changes coming (some of which help the players and should happen) it will be a very different sport soon.
