I'm driving down from Gainesville

So I made a bet with this girl I'm seeing, a MSU fan.  Whichever team made it to the Outback Bowl, the other would have to wear their school shirt to the game.  She was looking at ESPN's bowl predictions.  I made the educated decision and listened to the bloggers here.  Needless to say, for Christmas she got a nice UM shirt to wear.

This is not new

I live in Florida and was looking at basketball camps for my daughter. They have those for every sport, male and female. If anyone is interested, most week-long camps are only $2400-3800.

Very Simple
Vandy

Vandy has some pretty dynamic runners.  Throwing is not so hot, so that bodes well for us. Vandy tore up Florida on the ground (yes I know everyone tore up Florida). Would prefer the Gator Bowl over BWW if nothing else but for recruiting sake.

Agree

During Ohio's last drive, watching them destroy us with their run, there was no way we would have beat them in OT.  They would have run us into the ground.

Yep

Just made my day.  Sent it to all my UF co-workers.

Meh

My wife reminded me about our Appy State loss when I read this title.  On the bright side of things, we did beat Florida and Heisman winning Friar Tebow that year.  At least there was some redemtion for us.  This game was truly the only thing making me happy about our loss today (Yes, I live in Gainesville).

Integrity check

I was guilty of this in 2005.

Braylon wins hands down

I think if you have 3 - 1,000 yard seasons and are in the top 10 in each of those years, you win the "Best Receiver in Michigan History" award.

Braylon

Feel free to correct me, but didn't Braylon also have a freshman QB throwing to him?  I remember that year wouldn't have been nearly as good if Braylon hadn't saved us by grabbing almost everything thrown to him.

Da'Shawn's Visit Update

Well, actually I have no idea how he enjoyed it.  But after 5 football seasons in Gainesville, this was my first game.  So if he saw what I saw, Florida dropped flat out.

This was a game that should have been a 34-10 score (luckily at 34-17 on a lucky pass reflected off the foot of the DB that blocked it).  I especially liked how the crowd was yelling at the field throughout the game, worse after halftime.  Begging for Muschamp to be fired.  Defense was horrible, offense was actually not as bad as it seemed (offensive line was slightly worse than ours).  Horrible penalties on both sides of the ball.  The only bright side to this for Hand would be offering him IMMEDIATE playing time.

Maybe it was that the stadium was only about 90% full.  Maybe it was how teh crowd started leaving at the end of the 3rd quarter.  Maybe it was how the stadium was about 50% full with 10 minutes left in the game.  And for a homecoming game, the atmosphere was terrible.  Should be much more of a Michigan vs Bama battle.  I don't see how any of the recruits could have enjoyed that game.

And for all those complaining about ticket prices at Michigan, suffer through it.  Prices may be cheaper at the advertising schools, but the commercials, the crap on the billboards and during breaks.  The players (surprisingly UF only) kept watching the commercials and had no focus at all.

But I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Yep

Weather wasn't that great.  Pretty hot throughout the game.

Nope

Next week they go to South Carolina, then a chump win, then FSU.  They would have to beat either SC or FSU and I don't see either of those scenerios happening.

No Sacks

I'm not sure about the stats line, but I remember (I think the Penn State Game) in the game where he was hurt he looked tired/slow and almost gave up blocking/ got beat letting Gardner get sacked.

No

Having him listed as a tight end creates really tough matchups.  And occasionally last week happens.

I can't believe

they chose Willingham over Holtz?  He would have been an awesome and non-biased ex-coach to pick for that committee.  Hell, we'd be watching ND lose national championships every year if he would have been selected.

Offensively

Especially seeing his stats every week, I think he's the closest player to being able to play both ways we've recruited in a long time.  He could definitely play RB or WR.  Seeing plays like this though make me more excited than anything, backing up all that hype.  A truly destructive DB.

Pretty sure

this is exactly what I said above.  Just in a less so ///'ing manner.

Hmmm...

Seems pretty comparable to the MSU vs ND game and ND has already lost on gameday.  So it fits.

Not really a slot type guy

Not like Amendola or Welker who are both slot type guys.  More "like" Steve Smith of the Panthers.  He's definitely shining now.  Again, some players will produce better under different circumstances and this current one is great for Gallon.  How many players didn't really cut it at Michigan, leave for a year or two and then get drafted?  I think our recent Mr. Cox is a great example.

Hmmmm.....

Somebody obviously didn't get a decent ticket to UTL II and is trying to buy their way to a good seat.

Show them and they'll come

If recruits know they have a chance to play year one, they will be more likely to come.  Absolutely let them play.  We have been doing such a great job at recruiting, it'll only help recruiting to allow them to play.

Absolutely

Get him ready to play.  Even if he is a backup for this year and next, it'll only help him when he takes over.  If he was the best 2nd, we need him ready and junk time will give him enough experience.

The article

makes it appear that for the 5 years he played, he will be ineligible to play for 5 years. One year for each year played in an organized event.

There are ex-marines

I used to frequently call my brother-in-law an ex-marine when he went from a 6'0" chiseled machine to a 300 pound whale getting winded while walking to the mailbox.  Apparently enough people pissed him off enough so that he is back to 215 and running 15Ks.

Say What?

Don't be looking down on getting a girl knocking up to lock her up.  Some just aren't as manly as the mighty Magnus.  It's called thinking outside the box for the truly pathetic.

Kovac's stats

I didn't watch the game, but Kovacs stats put him as 7th for the night on tackles (3, 2 solo).  Could have been junk time though.

At least he's living his dream.  And based on all the pictures I've seen (as noted above), he's loving it.

Excellent

Very glad to see the women's program recruiting well.  Excellent addition.

I agree

At least grad school was in-state.

Surprising.

As a vet, I understand this.  The military tells you to either choose a state tax-free residence or as in the case of overseas, he changed his residence to not have to pay state taxes.  A benefit for most.  For instance, coming from Alabama, I had the right to choose Florida or Texas for my state of residence which has no state taxes.  The down side, if I wanted to go to a school outside the state of Florida/Texas, I am now an out of state student.  Luckily, I was warned about this before I changed my residence.  (Un)fortunately, I chose Michigan so I was still an out-of-state student.  Go blue.  And suck up the huge student loans like the rest of us.

Plus, I'm pretty sure my military record help me get into UM in the first place.  I mean, I came from Alabama after all.

Jumping

I used to treat soldiers at Fort Benning.  Nice jump school injury, their leg gets caught up in the cord.  ACL, PCL, MCL, and med/lat meniscus.  That was a sucky injury.  Basically ended their careers.

Yum

Dead people inside me...........  not great to think about, but it's not adding more trauma to you.  Why weaken yourself if you don't have to.

Yep

The first few months of therapy suck.  Great advice: if you don't do what your PT tells you and stretch consistently, they will do it for you.  And it will hurt more.  And take longer to get better.

More

So yes, once the swelling goes down, go for another eval.  More imaging.  Then go to PT before surgery.  Pain shuts muscles down and you want to re-educate them prior to the surgery so it's not so hard to re-educate afterwards.   Which type of surgery is probably up to your physician, I'm a fan of the HS or cadaver, but it's not my knee.  For PT go to Dominos Farms.  They specialize in sports medicine and not all PTs are the same.  Seriously.

Not everyone needs surgery though.  A lot of PTs don't get ACLs fixed but if you don't rehab will take longer and you will need to do a lot of stability work (for pretty much life) and there is a higher incidence of OA later in life (especially if the stability isn't there).  If you want to be active, get it done.  Regardless, listen to your therapist and finish your program.

And ice is nice too.

WTF?

Really, WTF?

State College of Florida

used to be Manatee Community College.  They just added a few BS degrees.  So the credits should transfer like any other junior college.

Actually

it's probably the closest thing to being a college athlete.  Entire schedule planned out with  academic load just enough to get you into DI schools and emphasis on sports the rest of the day.  Wake up, conditioning, classes, practice, study hall.  Except the conditioning and coaches are way better than the average HS.  Plus they have Manatee HS to compete with and they are always a top 50 (nationally) HS.

Twosie Shirt from the wife

which may not seem that great.  But I just received a grant for a tandem bike and indoor trainer for work (research in Parkinson's Disease) and I've been talking about buying the shirt so I can wear it during my indoor riding sessions.  The best part is one of my patients that will be participating is an old MSU grad.  He'll be riding in the back of course.

Yes

A combination of vestibular rehab, cardiovascular training, and dual tasking (cognitive training).  At least this is where the research is currently demonstrating effectiveness.

Either A&M or Georgia

UF is going to Sugar Bowl, Alabama to the BCS NC game.    I'm excited, more if we play Georgia vs Johnny Football.

NO

Rutgers would be the better option.  Not thinking either is necessary though.

Would love it.

Living in Gainesville, I would love this matchup..... again.

Yep

Today made me feel much better about the rest of this year and next.  Bellomy at the helm next year was not too exciting after last week.

Osi

I knew Osi Umenyiora in HS, he started playing his junior year also.  Only got into Troy b/c he knew D. Ward (Cowboys).  Look at them now.

Wrong Guy.

He's not wearing white gloves.

Integrity checks can be painful

Just throwing this out there but as Hoke suspended (and kicked off) players after altercations Urban brought back Stoneburner and Boren (after a mythical suspension) and allowed them to play.  This demonstrated a strong amount of integrity for Hoke but it was extremely costly, and painful.  I think this sets a strong standard that describes exactly what it means to be part of Michigan.

I know although many of us wanted Fitz and Clark to play, we knew this was the correct choice.  I am just hoping not to see many more integrity checks, or preferably the need for integrity checks.

Once again, demonstrating the excellent choice in our coach.  GO BLUE!

5.5 hour drive

to tailgate in Alabama with Bama in-laws.

I hate pulling out.

Just saying.

More likely

choice of FSU over Vandy.  Granted, he would be one of the best players in the past decade to go to Vandy (initial rankings), but highly unlikely.

Gotta admit, his sideburns rock.

From observations

of the chef, I doubt the meat was too raw.  I can see a nice medium rare, but not raw.
