Whether true or not? If the allegations are true, why should anyone feel sad for a rapist?

I wonder how much of that bottomless supply of cash will go toward salaries. It looks like Pearson's salary at Michigan Tech was $275,000.

Late Friday evening, Meridian Township Police posted a message on their Facebook page and blog that they are trying to locate Robertson. They asked the public to contact Detective Sgt. Brad Bach at 517-853-4800 or by email at [email protected], or by submitting an anonymous tip on their blog (meridiantwppolice.blogspot.com). During Friday morning’s hearing, Bach testified that police were concerned Robertson could be a flight risk.

In grad school I had a classmate from Italy. His family lived near the Austrian border, and the Italian postal service was so bad they used an Austrian post office box for all their international mail. He said it cut weeks off the delivery time.

I had a similar experience 20 some years ago when my two younger children were in a "Mother's Day Out" program at our church (and just like in Stephen's case, most of the people using this day care were not members of the church). One day there was a substitute teacher. She didn't know any of the parents. Women were picking up their children with no problem, but she made me get the ok from her supervisor before allowing me to do the same.
Edit: I should add, too, even the best intentioned actions based on stereotypes can have unforseen consequences. One day after a class party my daughter was a bit upset because everyone else had brought something but her. I asked the teacher later about it and she said she thought I would be too busy to supply anything, so she didn't mention it to me.

I never worked with this woman nor ever even met her, but I heard enough about her from multiple sources from her pre-Irish as well as post-Irish days (this will make sense later). So this woman was happily married and her husband was on the fast track to a huge promotion. Then there were allegations of infidelity on his part with the wife of someone he worked with or with a married woman he worked with (I don't remember exactly)--The allegations were either true or were believed by enough people that the effect was the same: he ended up losing the promotion (I think he might have actually taken early retirement) and they ended up divorced. She was American born, but changed her name to an Irish name, started speaking with an Irish accent, and claimed that she was from Ireland. This was all told to me by one person and confirmed by a second person (who I trust as one of the most forthright people I know).
A few months later, my wife started talking about this interesting Irish woman she met at work. I asked what her name was; bingo, it was the same woman. I tried explaining to my wife that she wasn't from Ireland and had just recently acquired an Irish accent. My wife didn't believe me and neither did one of her colleagues who is a close family friend. They defended her and were convinced someone was either confused or trying to disparage her for some reason. She was so sincere and open, they really didn't believe me.
A short time later, my wife and her colleague were being told by this woman that she had cancer, and later they were told that it was incurable and that she didn't have long to live. My wife's colleague literally spent hours with her, listening to her and providing moral support. I still couldn't convince them that she might just be inventing the cancer story as well. After more back and forth with them, they eventually conceded to me that perhaps there was a chance the Irish thing was the result of a traumatic divorce, but they were 100% convinced that her cancer story was legitimate. Then she disappeared, and my wife and it seemed that she had been telling the truth, and she had passed away. That is, until a year or two later she reappeared. My wife's colleague asked about her miraculous recovery from cancer, and she claimed to not know what he was talking about.

In some cases the fame just seems to make things worse because so many people are willing to look the other way or make excuses. I'm not saying people knew he was a murderer and excused that, but just ignoring a whole lot of lesser things sends a message that the rules don't apply and if you mess up, somebody is going to cover it up for you.

Having watched the taped broadcast, that was my impression as well. Speight often had someone in his face almost instantly. On Peters' long completions, he had plenty of time to throw.

Thanks for putting in this work and posting. It is interesting how many players shine in the Spring Game then never accomplish a whole lot once the real games start.
Initially I thought that was the case with Lynwood Haskins from the 1925 Spring Game, because I didn't see evidence of his even ever starting at Michigan. But apparently he transferred to Oklahoma because he won all-conference honors for them in 1927 for the MVC and in 1928 for the Big Six.

My fastest was probably a 1994 Caprice Classic with the 5.7 L. I know I had it up to 120 mph and rea that it's top speed was in the 140-150 mph range. 0-60 was 7.3 seconds which is pretty amazing for a car that weighs over 4,000 lbs.
I'm not sure what my slowest car was, but I remember my brother had a Vega that he punched to see how fast it would go. I think he got it up to around 90 mph in Flushing, MI. Apparently the local police started chasing us, but I think their cars topped out at about 75 mph this would have been late 70s or early 80s).. All I know is we didn't know they were even chasing us and we were pulling away. We couldn't outrun the radio, though, and a State Trooper and some other LEO, maybe a sheriff or something pulled us over. It took a few minutes for he Flushing PD to finally show up. At first the State Police thought we must have been dangerous or had warrants or something and didn't believe us that we had no idea there were police behind us (apparently way behind and losing ground).

There are a handful of local sports broadcasters that started calling for OSU to hire Gottleib last year, and apparently some alumni were miffed that he wasn't even given an interview. This may be just the AD attempting to silence some of his critics, and is granting an interview with no real intention of hiring him.

I also look for Walton to have a good game. I thought he was a bit on the fatigued side against Louisville. It seemed like the game against OSU took quite a bit out of him.

From what I heard, all of this talk of Alford to IU is coming from Alford's camp--not IU. Aside from his issues with defending a rapist, he has also never gotten a team beyond the sweet 16.

It is a bit of a mess. Here's a link to an article that talks about the previous coach and his contract (that I mentioned in a post above): http://newsok.com/article/3948498
Also, that basketball contract pissed off Mike Gundy, because he had had more success and a longer tenure than Travis Ford, but the AD wasn't offering him a ten year contract or anything close to it.
|5 weeks 3 days ago||The previous coach, Travis||
The previous coach, Travis Ford, couldn't keep his job with Marcus Smart as a guard on the team. Also, the AD stupidly signed Ford to a ten year high dollar contract. They'll still be paying Ford I think $1 million per year until September 2019 (it would be higher if he didn't have another coaching job). They got Underwood at a bargain price for one year but probably don't have the money to match Illinois' offer.

As others have noted, this might be something to splurge on. I would also say, forget about how much the tickets were yesterday. Don't let a lower price then prevent you from buying tickets now. There is a possibility there will be some cheaper tickets late tonight or tomorrow morning. Some wanting to sell will get nervous, even though the tickets are in high demand. But, you will have to be vigilant, because those tickets will get snapped up quickly.

What was horseshit was the AD undermining the basketball team by declining home court advantage for the NIT. Harbaugh was spot on about that.

Like Minnesota, Maryland was also way overseeded. Their last 10 games leading up to the Tournament, they went 4-6. They have not been a good basketball team the last half of he season

I hope for the IU AD's sake that he has a can't-miss prospect ready to bring in. Many of the IU fans seem to have a pretty short list of coaches they're willing to accept, Firing Crean is easy; hiring somebody that will satisfy the fanbase, not so much.

|5 weeks 6 days ago||I watched part of the IU GT||
I watched part of the IU GT game. That crowd was really into the game and no doubt helped GT, who was able to pull away late. Most of the game IU was within 5-7 points. I don't know if IU would have been able to pull it out at home, but the IU AD didn't do his basketball team any favors by declining the home court advantage.
I would think one of the biggest issues with drawing a top coach there is the delusional elements of the fan base who think it's still the 1970s and that IU is one of the top half dozen basketball jobs / programs in the country.
