This practice has been used by SEC schools for football for a long time. You only get marquee games if you've gotten tickets previous years and been to the games. I think it is a great way to make sure the students are there for more of the games. However, I think they should also give them the ability to get tickets in an upper bowl section if they end up with too many by the time the big games come around.
It started after EVERY win at RR. He wanted the team to come over, celebrate with the fans and then sing The Victors with the students and the band at the end of every game.
It is great to see the team playing this well without Sam. I'm not sure what her situation is, but assume it is some sort of minor injury.
The women's team has had movement up and down the lineup year to year on a regular basis more than expected (except for this year), but that could be because of upcoming competition level, level of play to other players changing, etc etc. The most recent one I've noticed is Mimi:
As a freshmen: 7-2 at No. 3, 9-1 at No. 4, 5-1 at No. 5, 1-0 at No. 6
As a sophomore: 1-0 at No. 3, 3-0 at No. 4, 4-6 at No. 5, 6-2 at No. 6
As a junior: 4-1 at No. 3
She has experience all over the place as more of a grinder and an underdog, but also could show how the depth of the team was suspect before and wasn't that strong at the bottom even though it may have been more experienced.
It is nice to see that the same 6 girls have been able to succeed thus far without Sam and hopefully she can come back soon and be the contributor she was last year.
Good luck to both teams, they are both strong groups and getting stronger. Hope to see the women not only win the big ten and keep the season championship away from Northwestern, but beat them in the B1G Tournament where they beat us 4-3 at home in the final to take their 13th straight Tournament title.
Also..keep up the tennis threads on MGoBoard and and Diaries, there is definitely a strong fanbase for these teams.
My flight arrives in Seattle around 11am so am hoping to make a detour on the way home to check out the match.
No Let Rule:
I am okay with it for World Team Tennis to make it different and to add another feature to it. However, I don't think the NCAA should have implemented it until it was the norm for professional tennis.
Also, high school tennis is tossing around the idea of putting it in and as a high school coach, I am completely against that. Most athletes aren't able to respond quickly enough and have enough hand-eye coordination to make it work. On top of that, you are lucky to get high school courts with the correct 36" net height let alone the correct tension on the net. This causes the ball to trickle over the net far too often and would be an Ace according to No Let.
Mock Rock is a great event! I've always enjoyed going, it's quite entertaining and is for a good cause. Sadly I had an exam tonight and couldn't make it.

The 2011 champion was the MMB, but were exhibition this year and not judged.
When they had that record crowd right away they counted people in an 'corral-like' area outside of the stadium where they watched on bigscreens. They had access to the concourse, but not to Standing Room Only Sections within view of the field.
Because of the Preferred Seat Donation, the only people who may not have Priority Points are those who have End Zone Season tickets that were Season Ticket Holders before 2005. Otherwise everyone should have some number of Priority Points and should have fell into the slotting for tickets.
Also, I know this is true for the Suites for the game, but not positive on other seats. Season ticket holders for the Cowboys had first right of refusal for the Suites, so that could have easily taken up a lot of tickets. If you had Lions season tickets and got offered another game between, for instance, USC and LSU, why wouldn't you go?
Chidester will bat .800 and everything will be okay. They will definitely creep up the rankings once the season starts, it is just the shock of losing Jordan Taylor.
At least they continue to do well...the Pistons need to continue tanking..Charlotte still has the worst record in the league. Hope the lottery doesn't screw them over.

7-0 for the first time since 2004 and in the Quarterfinals of the ITA Indoor Championships for the first time. Congratulations to the ladies and hopefully they can pull off an upset of #1 Seed/#1 Ranked Stanford tomorrow at 4pm.

The guys who sit just behind the scorer's table on the Opponent end in Camo do a pretty good job of filling the void as well, they are pretty hilarious out there. Unfortunately, they wear the US Woodland Camo. When was the last time that was actually used? Get some Desert Camo!
The 2010 Football Team isn't exactly in the top 30, or even 50 Michigan Teams that I would want a signed helmet of.
Also, any pink team apparel is just appalling to me. It brings to mind Jessica Simpson at Cowboys games (http://checkraise.com/rants2/archive3/PINK_PHOTO_2.jpg) and that annoying chick at games who has no idea what is going on, but insists that her boyfriend buy her another pink shirt because its 'SOOOOO CUTE'. ....barf.... I think a traditional helmet with a Susan G. Koman for the cure Foundations sticker on it would be much more successful.

What a hell of a throw and catch. He even got both feet in bounds...too bad he only played 2 years in the NFL. Career Stats: 4 Rec 101 Yds and 1 Rush 5 Yds.

The guy always had issues with Ferentz for no apparent reason...NSFMF, maybe Ferentz knew something everyone didn't until this came out. Even ESPN hyped this guy this year, but now he is hoping to pull of a late 5th or early 6th round draft pick.
It is a shame that Lou didn't get the 5% needed to stay on the ballot for the HoF, but Tram will have a rough time getting in himself. He needs to triple his votes and he only has 5 years left on the ballot.
I think part of the issue with Tram is the injuries and such near the end of his career and the managing stint in Detroit (eeeeee...) even though he is a decent bench coach.

Kovacs is around 200pounds! That won't let him play LB. If he magically gains 25 or 30 pounds then great, but there is no way he could play LB in a 4-3 at that size, even if he can tackle well. Anything that will keep him out of man coverage is a help though....
With the coaching change on top of the numerous dropped balls,I'd like to see the #1 stay hidden for another year. Even though I don't think Hoke would give it to an unworthy candidate, remember the fiasco with Rich Rod giving it away. Keep it on the shelf and see what happens next year in the adjusted offense.

I don't think it'll be that emotional at all. If anything it will be a 'don't F up and lose to these schmucks I said I would walk across the country to leave.'
Let's be realistic, if Hoke can bring that kind of luck to the defensive side of the ball...I'll take it. Even if it was 40-21 or 40-14, thats still a fairly impressive showing against the #3 team and top defense. They also held them to 7-18 on 3rd down when they converted 53% all year.
I think it will also depend on what RichRod does. If RichRod finds a new job in the near future, Denard is more likely to follow. If it appears that RichRod is taking time off, I can't see Denard leaving unless Hoke says he has to move to another position.
SDSU was 37th in points allowed this year with 22.1, obviously far better than Michigan. Plus to top that off their offense could put up points as well. They put up 35 points against TCU (@TCU also), who had the #1 Defense in points per game with 12. That 35 was the most TCU had given up all year with the next most being 24 @SMU. We won't be rough shape with him.
