I'm 80% convinced that these…

I'm 80% convinced that these anonymous coaches are just voices in Bruce Feldman's head

I get it and I'm not…

I get it and I'm not attacking you. It's fun to bash on terrible takes like this! But the more it spreads, the more he'll be encouraged to keep doing it. Ideally he gets no reaction and realizes his stupid opinions are being ignored

Why are you giving this guy…

Why are you giving this guy air? He is obviously doing it for attention. It's obvious from the quotes you cited that he doesn't even understand what's going on. Ignore him like the rest of us and move on

He's definitely got some…

He's definitely got some takes, including that OSU and UMs OL seem to be in the same spot and that "every QB gets worse under Harbaugh". I believe that'd be news to Andrew Luck, Alex Smith, Colin K, Rudock, JJ. I like this column, but it definitely seems the snarkiness is turning up as OSU has taken on a few losses against Michigan. Fine by me

IIRC he was an insanely good…

IIRC he was an insanely good recruiter. Doesn't sound like he's ready for a coordinator role, so maybe we can plug an assistant coach gap if someone leaves. We definitely need some improvement on the recruiting front, and he loves Harbaugh. Good place to rehabilitate his image for a bit and give us an ace recruiter

This is cool, thanks for sharing. The points story on both sides of the ball is pretty compelling

Agree that it would probably…

Agree that it would probably be Gattis. There's a lot to be said for continuity within a program that is doing well. The team will also have an absolutely loaded offense next year -- great opportunity for an offensive coach who already knows the players well to come out of the gates firing

It's Mazi Smith. Trieu just…

It's Mazi Smith. Trieu just tweeted it out that he committed

Fair point but

It's a good point, but context matters here. Harbaugh is 1 - 4 against MSU and OSU. That's obviously not great, but look at some of these losses:

2015 MSU: A last second dropped punt cost us the game against a playoff team. That's about as far on the negative variance/unlucky end of the spectrum you can get.

2016 OSU: If any one of the 10 obvious penalties went our way, the 4th down spot went our way, or Speight didn't randomly drop the ball at OSU's goalline, we win. Again, that's hard to blame the coaching, that's just almost entirely unlucky.

2017 MSU: This one is less clear than the above two, but we were down 4 and coming off a TD drive in the second half when the skies opened and the conditions didn't allow either team to move the ball for the rest of the game.

If those three games are not overtly unlucky, Harbaugh is 4-1 against rivals. Even if you don't want to be charitable, at least one or two of those games are wins with even average luck.

Classy

He was classy before the game in his comments and continued it post-game. Their team hung with us for almost 60 minutes, and all he does is compliment our team. Constrast that to Scott Frost's comments (we outhit them), MSU (we dominated them in the trenches), etc.

Glad to have played Air Force twice, and glad that we don't have to play them again in the near future.

Only technically

I think there are probably a few instances where someone has committed and then flipped at the last second. Mike Weber is a good example. In that case, he's 'wrong' in the technical sense, but he issued the gut feeling when the player had committed to Michigan. So generally these are about gold. in this instance, you can assume it's 100%, since there's only one day left, Sam talked to his dad and he already had a commitment video shot

Looking good all of a sudden

Martin looks to be locked up. A few southern insiders just CB'd Collins to Michigan a couple minutes ago. Solomon continues to look like it's better than a 50/50 shot. I think we honestly might get all three of those and miss on Gay and Becton (and replace with Ifi)

It's just wild how many early It's just wild how many early entrees there are likely to be from OSU only one year removed from a record amount of first rounders.

OL

Cesar Ruiz is a highly-rated OL. We need highly-rated OL who will OL good for us in the future. Therefore, this is a good pick up.

/Expert Analysis

QQ SC

Hey Space Coyote -- Do you think we will see similar issues against OSU as we saw last season? I know we have Glasgow/Mone back this season which should help staying stout up the middle, but is that enough? I don't have a good enough grasp of their O to understand how they exploit weaknesses

This isn't even a Jourdan This isn't even a Jourdan Lewis situation where there's a chance he sticks around for another year. He just so obviously is ready to be in the NFL and will be a lock top 10 pick (probably top 5). Happy for him and hope he goes out with some hardware

wow

They literally did the exact same thing the entire way down the field. That was right against our biggest strength too. Hopefully we adjust, because that was a picture perfect drive

Not a good look. Fine if you Not a good look. Fine if you want to fire him, embarrassing to sack him mid-season after he has won you a NC and has had so many winning seasons for you. Hope LSU can't attract an elite guy because of the way they treated Miles here. No shame in firing a guy, but geez

Peppers was amazing. Our DL Peppers was amazing. Our DL played well. Our safeties got burned several times, which scares me for more talented teams we will play. At first glance it seemed like Dymonte was pretty bad on several (including a dropped TD pass in Endzone on that trick play).

Bummer. Poor kid, hope he can Bummer. Poor kid, hope he can get healthy first and foremost. Ideally we have him for Wisco and MSU as those are the two near-term games where we need some big time nose tackle presence.

Thanks!

I love these, really appreciate you doing this!

I'm all for this

Three reasons why I think this is a good idea:

1. We'll need a lot of new dudes next year, good to get them PT this season

2. Keeps starters relatively fresh for later in season to have deep rotation in many less competitive games

3. Shows recruits and current players that it's always a copmetition for PT and good players will get to see the field right away

Lewis is the best

An All-American Senior who says things like, “They’re way better than me at that age – they might be better than me now,”

Humble and classy in addition to being a ridiculously good football player. I love that guy

Partly agree -

But Warde should have a much better sense of fan sentiment. That's a huge miss to assume that people would be willing to deal with the absolute shittiness that he just threw onto our schedule.

Definitely Brandon's fault...

But this is equally on Warde. Tough to understand why you would agree to this as the current AD.

Eh

I don't particularly care one way or the other, though I'm not sure what he's upset about with Saban. I watched the video and Saban was asked about Harbaugh, so he responded using his name. He didn't really call him out or anything. But whatever, it's the off-season and we need CONTENT

Awesome

Thanks for the clarification!

noob question

If Michigan wins and advances to the World Series, is that a final four? Eight? What happens from here (a few three-game series, single elimination, etc.)?

Yup

I think losing Glasgow was a huge blow.  We didn't have him for either of the power spread teams we played (Indiana, OSU), and both ran roughshod over us.  It's possible that we would have struggled just as much with him, but I doubt it.  I think having him and Mone both back to plug up the middle and disrupt the interior of the OL will be a huge boon for us.  Of course, a lockdown corner, some athletic rush DEs and Peppers roaming will likely be just as impactful.

Welp

I was wrong. Stuff happened.  Some thoughts:

1. Jon looks alive and doesn't appear to be blue-eyed or anything. Looks like e just got straight revived here

2. Bran is obviously setting up for TOJ reveal, and previews for next episode show that happening.  Dropping all the Jon Snow bombs real quick

3. Euron isn't as crazy/insane as I was expecting, but let's see what happens with the Kingsmoot. Also, I guess Asha/Yara is taking the place of Victarion here?

4. The giant smashing the dude against the wall of Castle Black was awesome

My theory

I think that this will largely be another set-up episode in most storylines, and I think episde 3 is where all hell will break loose and we will start to see large plot movements at the Wall, at Winterfell, with Dany, etc.

"Wanting to be great"

Honestly, it's just another banal sports cliche in the line of, "that team just wanted it more".  Following this line of logic, at one point Harbaugh made his players realize, "oh we want to be great!".  That's crazy.  College athletes almost to a number are insanely competitive, work super hard at their craft, and have committed large chunks of their lives to do so.  To think that guys like Jehu Chesson, Jake Butt and Jourdan Lewis simply didn't care enough to be great is a ridiculous simplification.

I think a much more honest interpretation is that Harbaugh instituted a system that made players realize how much more was required of them in order to be successful on the field and more importantly, exactly how to get there.  He's a great coach, and great coaches create really clear roadmaps to success.  Some players decide it's too much work, but most buy-in and see results.  That's a lot different than convincing them that they should "want to be great".

I am guessing

That it sets her up to take control of the entire Dothraki and unite the different Khalasars.  She'll be in the heart of the Dothraki and probably Drogon will show up, at which point I am guessing the Dothraki will follow her.  Maybe just to Mereen, or maybe to Westeros?

Actually it doesn't make Actually it doesn't make sense. They were clearly not only left with two pro-ban options, as many conferences voted for no ban at all. It literally makes no sense. And I would be very, very skeptical about any nonsense around how he 100% knew exactly how everyone would vote, particularly since if he voted the way he should, only one other small conference would need to flip for the bill to fail.

Hurst, Gary, Mone should Hurst, Gary, Mone should provide a good DL foundation. I expect 2-3 solid Lb contributors from 2016 will remain, so we should be ok there as well. We will likely lose almost everyone in our secondary, but I expect a few guys to step up in 2016, at least in spot duty (kinnel, long, Hudson, etc). It'll be a bit rough, but we will also have a lot of guys who are highly skilled

It's not a rumor

Sam Webb confirmed it on Scout.  Pretty insane

holy poop

Wow...Michigan has already picked up two of the top kids in Ohio for the 2018 class, after not having anyone in Ohio in their most recent class.  That's insane and awesome...

BAH GAWD

BAH GAWD THAT MAN HAS A FAMILY!

Dang, nice tweet. Harbaugh doesn't even need the subtweet

Various ones:

1. Hardcore History: probably the bes podcast I've ever listened to. If you are even a casual history fan, I'd recommend starting the series "Blueprint for Armageddon", which covers WWI.  It is fascinating and I have yet to find a person who has listened to it and did not thoroughly enjoy it

2. A16Z: If you're into tech, this is a pretty good one that is hosted by Andreesen Horowitz.  It can sometimes be a bit too detailed/wonky, but generally strong guests.

3. Planet Money:  Just a good conversation and discussion around various financial topics in an approachable way.

Nope

The guy that just got hired is Jimmy Dougherty I believe, who came from San Jose St.

This is the Mike and Mike interview

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=14720569

ohhh yeahh

Agree

I was just looking over his record the other day and was shocked by how pedestrian it was:

3 x 8-5

1 x 9-4

1 x 10-3

1 x 12-1

That's certainly not bad, but it's far from elite, especially when you consider that the 12-1 year was incredibly lucky with many close calls, and the recent 10-3 year ended with a pretty good thumping by Ohio State.

I think Notre Dame will be strong, but not elite, under Kelly. That's certainly an upgrade from previous coaches, but I will be shocked if he takes them to the promised land ever under his tenure.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS

I ENJOY GOOD NEWS!

That's...weird

I thought Harbaugh was willing to take 2 more TEs in this class.  Either we have filled up and he only wants one or he already thinks he has 2?  I can't imagine Allen is picking Iowa St over Michigan or Nebraska without a bit of a nudge in that direction.

Hopefully that means we have locked down Eubanks and Asiasi.

Said this before...

But lot of insiders have said that Michigan staff had McDoom as their #1 receiver on their board long before he committed to Oregon.  The fact that they have so many WRs and Fisch was still actively recruiting him the last few months supports that.  He will be really good at Michigan
