|1 day 10 hours ago||2nd punt returner||
i'm a huge advocate of the short man on the punt return (no pun intended to norfleet). he can serve two purposes - 1) field the short punt; 2) he can block the first man downfield.

i think monte robbins was his cousin too.

i would always use a back up QB. if you don't, you practically take away the chance for a fake; at least by a pass. i do remember a successful dileo fake when he plowed into the line. and we will always have the NW slide hold.

they are wearing orange. thought i was watching syracuse. wonder if they are going to change the color of their home turf.
|2 days 4 hours ago||SEC||
5-10 years ago, all we heard was that the SEC had by far the best defenses in the nation. No offense could score off those guys. It's not that their QBs sucked.
Now, they all have the greatest offenses ever. No D could ever expect to stop them. 24 pts already by A&M in the first half w/o johnny football. I'm just shaking my head.

ty left because his coach is a racist.
|2 days 9 hours ago||countess||
i really think he has "IT"; a nose for making plays. i see him being more consistent this year, being a year removed from injury, and becoming that all big ten player we've been hoping for.
|2 days 9 hours ago||my guesses||
D: countess and ross
O: green and cole. if cole as a true frosh can start at LT over magunusson who most thought was the sure #1, i like his improvement curve during the next 3 months.
|2 days 12 hours ago||QBs||
i have often waited to grab a QB, even very late. then i take two. so i could end up with the #11 and #13 QB, but then i start the guy with the best match-up that week. it's almost like having a top 5 QB.
and it's worked. one year i had favre (vikings) and eli manning. they easily combined for top 5 QB stats.

no one will notice peppers sneaking onto the field.

sometimes i think his favorite play was the most common play called in my backyard as a kid:
"OK, same thing. Ready. Break.""
|2 days 12 hours ago||scripting plays||
am i the only one who thinks this is dumb? i think bill walsh was the first guy i remember noted for doing this on the first drive. he was obviously successful.
but what if you have a holding call on the first play. are you still going to stick with the off tackle run on the next play?
obvioulsy, you game plan and have a general strategy. but i don't believe in scripted plays/drives.

|4 days 9 hours ago||he's hedging||
like any smart new coach should. if he came out and said everyone is performing above expectations only to lay an egg against ND, the world would call him out for being incompetent. by hedging, he buys himself time no matter the early outcomes.

hope and change.

you see no difference? i would gladly take 9-3 this year with losses to Utah, PSU and NW.
|5 days 14 hours ago||donnal||
is a bit thinner and quicker than doyle.
|5 days 14 hours ago||agree||
with all of this. i will add that i'm not sold yet on the centers after watching some of their competition. they will struggle against good-sized centers and i expect a lot of foul trouble. but i expect improvement throughout the year.

all those are bad. but 3 rivers seemed slightly worse to me...for baseball. though i did see a washed up bob walk throw a one-hit shutout.
|6 days 11 hours ago||me for one||
i'm more of a baseball purest, so i can find positives out of the worst teams/games. you never know what can happen. you might see the greatest catch ever, even in a horrible game.
case and point - about 12 years ago, i went to yankee stadium to watch the yanks/phils. the phillies were killing the yankees. it was like 8-1 going into the ninth. probably only a few thousand fans left; including me and my friend. the yankees came back and won. they said it was the biggest comeback since the mickey mantle days.
i was so happy that most of those arrogant yankee fans missed it.
btw - those old yankee hot dogs using a slice of wonder bread were awful.
|6 days 11 hours ago||really???||
for an indoor stadium, thought they did a pretty good job. houston too. toronto on the other hand, is terrible.
the tailgaiting at miller is the way to go.
|6 days 11 hours ago||disagree||
i went to see the cubs-braves last year in between final four days. i thought the stadium was fine. beyond the outfield is a huge area with food and beer vendors and such. they had a band playing out there too. pretty fun before the game.
the best part was when samardjia came to bat, the PA guy played the victors. i was probably one of the few people who got the joke.
|6 days 11 hours ago||stubhub||
you haven't been in a couple years then. those supercheap stubhub days are over. sales are cut off 6 hours before game and cubs have set a floor; i'm guessing about 50% of face.
|6 days 11 hours ago||no comparison is right||
wrigley bleachers >>>>> fenway bleachers. also, if you sit in the box seats, wrigley is as good or better than any other venue; really close to the field.
that said, wrigley has to be near the bottom in amenities.
|6 days 11 hours ago||hmmm||
left field bleachers at fenway? i assume you mean right field.
|1 week 23 hours ago||well||
it was a frigid game. and but for that INT in the first half, UM was pretty much dominated; lucky to even be in the game.
|1 week 23 hours ago||correct||
i was there and remember both guys getting hurt. also remember gedeon getting destroyed early and often.
