the results aren't there, but i haven't been bashing my head against the wall with his play calling like i did with borges.
that said, when i saw the personnel hit the field for that 4th and 3 play, my buddy and i looked at each other and thought there was no way they were going to make it. all the play makers were on the sideline. then the horrible DG keeper followed. horrible call on 4th and 3. 4th and 1 maybe. 4th and 3 never.
|16 hours 14 min ago||who was missing??||
chesson? he's normally a beast on special teams. i wonder if perhaps he was huddling with the offense on the sidelines and forgot about the punt team. just a guess.
|17 hours 2 min ago||"Offensive line moving from awful to almost OK"||
they just got owned by utah. you are delusional.

he has velcro golf shoes

could have run for 1000 yds if given the chance. on wisconsin!!
|19 hours 24 min ago||uh||
you're missing one important factor, those other QBs had some good/great defenses behind them. if denard had just an avg defense, he would have competed for BIG titles each year.
|19 hours 29 min ago||i was of that opinion||
until the miss st bowl game. to crap the bed again after a month to prepare was unacceptable. the team was now lost on and off the field. a change had to be made. RR rolled the dice with his bad D coaches and lost. unfortunately, hoke has done the same with Funk. and he is going to pay for it with his job.
|19 hours 34 min ago||agree||
except i think the dumbest is doing the same with denard who may be the #1 dual threat QB in college history.
|19 hours 38 min ago||yes!!!||
bring back the arm punt. actually, i'm serious. max protect and arm punt a lot more. if you're going to commit a TO, it may as well be a 40 yd TO. plus, with a guy like funchess, he can make a play and or get an interference call which can immediately get you into scoring position.
the D can keep you into games but the O and special teams keep accounting for too many negative points.
|19 hours 47 min ago||well||
our rushing D is likely as good as any in the country. so there is that...and probably only that. so that's one thing.

your avatar could be interim coach?
|1 day 13 hours ago||very true||
imagine if denard would have bolted. hoke probably would have been a .500 coach.

only lasted about 10 years in the nfl. certainly not an elite college QB.
|2 days 10 hours ago||iirc||
denard was an all american!!!! and i'm guessing pryor got his share of votes too. their impact in the nfl has nothing to do with this.
|2 days 10 hours ago||my point||
is pryor and denard were very successful college QBs. in recent years osu and um went to non-pro-style QBs; the two schools who recruit at the highest level in the BIG. hence, nfl draft #s decline as a result. even psu went the dual threat route for a few years.
to suggest the quality of play has declined in the BIG because of QB play is false, imo; this year excepted.
most top 10 schools would be happy with a player like denard, pryor or miller.
|2 days 15 hours ago||hmm||
i seem to remember guys like pryor and denard getting drafted off the top of my head. i'm guessing i can probably find others too not on this list. i think the lions drafted a QB out of minny some years back too, iirc.
|3 days 11 hours ago||my guess||
would be a game before cable tv. perhaps a UM-OSU game in the late 70s. I would similarly also guess the nat'l championship game against indiana for basketball.
|3 days 18 hours ago||well||
it would have been nice to keep the shutout streak going.
|5 days 2 hours ago||billy sims||
i remember him doing something similar with the lions but i think he got more height and used both feet.
|6 days 21 hours ago||well||
we had a similar situation with tommy amaker. he beat UM with a harvard team. now look a few years later.
|6 days 23 hours ago||ya||
they ran carr a number of times to no effect. i remember a lost fumble at the goal line too; purdue maybe in the ice bowl.
|1 week 1 hour ago||free money?||
seriously? who doesn't want a free BMW convertible? you know, it's just sitting there on the street waiting to be taken.
he's a thief. period. end of story.

"This shows me that Utah is not the offensive powerhouse people are deriving from the last two games. Rather, we match up quite evenly."
Even? That's the problem. It's Utah fergodsakes.
|1 week 1 day ago||magnusson||
can't we move him to RT and get braden out of there?
|1 week 1 day ago||this team||
is a fucking joke

that was pathetic
|1 week 1 day ago||borges||
the old 3rd and 11 play action pass

"When you can rotate 3 guys in and there is no serious perceptable difference."
Unfortunately, that seems to be the problem at a number of positions but in a bad way.
|1 week 3 days ago||unfortunately||
i agree with you. that said, i think smith shows a lot more promise to me than green. he at least seems to run harder. so i would like to see him get the 20-25 carries.
|1 week 4 days ago||very true||
coming into this season i thought UM would have an outstanding back 7 and i was concerned about the DL. well, after game 1, the LBs sucked. After game 2 the DBs sucked. the DL has actually been ok.
i have no idea what to think of this D now. it's clearly not nearly as good as i hoped it would be.
