that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

|1 day 1 hour ago||dawkins and maar||
i think maar can develop into a PG. and dawkins can certainly develop into any of the 2-4 positions. his handle improved a lot during the year; much like irvin.

it seems way too early to offer what appears to be a long-term project. not sure what the hurry is. why not try to land one of the top centers first.

it was sam vincent's team a couple years later that won the state title with robert henderson.

I saw magic play HS ball as a kid - 1977ish. He played C in the middle of a 2-3 zone on D and would often go coast-to-coast. He was 7'0" tall with that fro. That said, I think they had 2 or 3 other guys play Div I ball; including other 6'7'' and 6'8" guys on the front line.
That team won the state title when magic was a junior. interestingly enough, the next year, magic's team lost to Lansing Eastern (Jay Vincent's team) in the regionals. Eastern went on to win the state title. Pretty epic era of HS bball in the Lansing era then.

i don't think wagner came here to redshirt. he is likely not a four year player. i see him getting 10-15 min per game next year at the #4.
|1 week 1 day ago||curious||
who would you have guard howard or rose with that 2013 team? fab 5 would crush them in the paint. and jimmy king could do an adequate job on burke; not shut him down but contain him.

incoming freshmen are much better than they were 20-30 years ago. but i think most of the ncaa champions of the 80s would beat the champions of recent years.
imo, those jordan teams, ewing teams, even 89 UM team would consistently beat the best teams of today. even the fab 5 teams would crush the 2013 UM team that made the finals.

has he been written off for 2015 with those hamstrings again?

gustave, they didn't even have talkies back in your day. that said, dialogue likely wasn't an important feature in that film.

i think he should stay. i think he could light it up next year if he gets 30 min/game. could become a lottery pick a la stauskus. that would be a big jump in $.
|1 week 2 days ago||oddly||
refs seem to call that foul after the shot when a shooter is beyond the 3 pt arc, yet they often let that go under the basket which is far more dangerous.
|1 week 2 days ago||yes||
wisky does do this a lot. there were at least 3 instances in the BIG tourny game against us where they undercut our players and no call. worse yet, they got the ball and scored in at least 2 of those.
i for one am glad gasser is finally gone - the main culprit.
|1 week 2 days ago||well||
i never said the harrisons were not good basketball players. they obviously are. that said, i would take a ulis/booker back court over those two any day. also, i bet he has top 10 guys coming in or waiting to commit. so i don't think calipari is sheading a tear over those two turning pro.
|1 week 2 days ago||well||
he has 3 commits already. my guess is that he has 2 more top 10 guys waiting in the wings. so assuming his 2 big guys commit, he needs to have 2-3 others go, and the harrisons could easily be upgraded.
|1 week 3 days ago||i agree 100%||
also, i think they should take a TO away from each team and give them a challenge instead, especially in the tourny. reviewing plays under 2 min just seems very arbitrary to me.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||i like your two||
with a close third to trey burke's block. all three were potential national title screw ups by refs.
a lot of people mention the webber play, but i give dean smith more credit than that. he had a few fouls to give and it would have been very difficult to get any kind of quality shot in those final seconds.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||not knowing what he is studying||
i'm surprised he isn't getting a head start in an elite grad school in his field, and balance that with potential playing time. hell, he could probably get good minutes at northwestern next year.
i get that there is the quirky transfer rule needing a field of study not offered at current school.

ya, it's not the possible for the ncaa to "babysit" every institution. it is up to the member institutions to ensure the integrity of their programs and students. it's not up to the ncaa to find transgressions. however, when evidence of malpractice arises, the ncaa damn well better be in there to investigate.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||so||
if Ford = UNC; UAW = ncaa; ford focus = UNC basketball
i guarantee you that the UAW comes down hard on Ford when they find out there are non-union Johnny Assemblyline guys working on that Ford Focus instead of union workers.(ie. legit student athletes).
|2 weeks 1 day ago||what?||
how can anyone agree with that stance? the ncaa sets minimum academic standards in order to qualify to participate. to say they have no responsibility after the individual is enrolled is just ludicrous.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||hardaway||
did an awesome job that whole game breaking the press when historically he wasn't asked to be a ball handler.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||i think you are right||
a wisky fan recently told me the same thing. he said he couldn't get past the wisky standards but maryland accepted him. i told him that even BIG schools have different standards; though they may meet minimum ncaa standards.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||maybe||
but this is huge for 2015, even if rudock is just a one year band aid. it buys JH another full year to develop all of those frosh QBs into competent big ten players.

the talent in michigan has been down this millenium. that's why JB has gotten more recruits from indiana than even michigan.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||yes||
if JB can land Brown or Wagner in 2015 that trend continues; 4 years in a row with at least one top 50 type player. 2016 looks like a pretty good bet too.
