“Also, for some HBCUs, the marching band is a bigger deal than the football team, but I don't know how feasible it is to have a marching band without football”
I don’t know, Ohio State seems to nagar just fine doing it that way.
No, intent to deceive is an actual penalty (questionable whether it was applied correctly in the Jake Butt play).
The reference is to a “technical foul” essentially that Harbaugh received. The official said something along the lines of “if this was basketball, that would be a technical” as justification for the penalty.
I completely agree @1989 UM GRAD. Having a senior with similar stats going through the application process now, we’ve done a lot of information gathering with her. It seems for the top level schools (Ivies, UMich, UChicago, Northwestern, Stanford, etc) a ton of applicants have similar academic achievements, the differentiation comes from essays and extra curriculars (sports, clubs, NHS, part-time jobs, internships, etc). Another factor that admissions take into account is your HS and community - they don’t necessarily treat all 4.0+ the same.
I like the shotgun approach - apply to all of the schools you’re interested in attending, plus 2 safety schools (like an MSU) in hopes of getting offered significant merit based aid, up to a full ride.
If by "COVID is about to disappear" you mean an effective vaccine (we don't know how long the immunity it generates will last) will be widely available within a year, then sure.
Not that they have a leg to stand on now, but this decision has absolutely nothing to do with the NCAA. It is solely a conference matter, so this does nothing to add to or detract from the argument about paying players.
A lot of the faculty’s salary isn’t based on teaching, it is based on research, which they can still do, and still brings a shit ton of money to the University.
How in the fuck is utilizing his background and training to evaluate the situation and forming his approach to dealing with the pandemic for the entire university “politicizing this entire situation”? Just because your myopic worldview can’t comprehend the issues the university is dealing with doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
I've watched every one of Clarkston's games for the last 2 years - Spindler will not play OL in college. He is a really good DL (usually double/triple teamed) though. G. Dellinger could be a tackle decent OL, but wait until his brother grows a little more. Cole Dellinger will be better than Garrett.
So he should apologize to us because some people have complaints about his product, which he provides to us for free? Try this website out, I bet you will agree with most of the posts:
For the face mask/stiff arm, the difference is that the runner does not grasp the face mask. If they put there hand out and make contact with the face mask without grabbing onto it, no penalty has occurred. Rule 9, section 1, Article 8(a)
For illegal hands to the face - There is a specific exception for ball carriers. In college the rule is the player cannot make continual contact with helmet, face mask or neck area, except for the on or by the ball carrier or simulated ball carrier. Rule 9, section 1, Article 8(b).
If I did my taxes and saw half of that for my gross income I would be ecstatic! I have a professional degree (engineering) from M, and that is A LOT of money.
I will second Erbelli’s in K-zoo as being great, but the best i’ve ever had was at The Saloon in Gladstone (just outside Escanaba for those not familiar). My sister-in-law is from the area and her family introduced us to it. Un. Be. Lievable.
If you mean the first play in the longer "film study" video, we only see 10 players, with 7 on LOS - the slot is off. The receiver to the top of the formation (off screen) would have to be off LOS as well, or else McKeon would be ineligible to go down field.
If you mean the first video on the page - it is irrelevant, as it is a run - you could theoretically have 10 guys on LOS.
The only play I see where there is a question would be the last one from "All-22", but the video starts after the snap, so I can't tell for sure, but it looks like TE type on the bottom of the formation was lined up in an H-Back roll, off LOS, next to tackle.
"Beilein's not the sort of coach to upset the instate balance of power .... He is a guy who will bring guaranteed respectability, likeable teams, and a host of tourney bids with some fun runs to the Sweet 16 or whatever. Michigan basically abdicated on being a powerhouse when they hired Beilein."
I think Brian may have undersold Beilein a bit there.
Not only have we finished runner-up the most, but M is also undefeated in the semifinals - 8 appearances, 7 runner-ups, 1 championship and zero times not making the NC game.
This one is treading a little too close to the "no politics" rule, especially considering the source linked (a partisan think tank) and the use of the term "social justice warrior". This is all not to mention that the linked article is from May 2018.
Wait, so this kid is in 7th grade? How is he “Southfield A&T” quarterback, when we won’t go there for at least 2 more years? He should be listed as “Southfield Falcons 12u” quarterback.
If that is the case, what does that have to do with this being "our year"? OSU's loss does not affect the division race, and would not impact the playoff rankings after we win (to the contrary, an undefeated OSU would likely benefit us).
Uhh, ESPN has his QBR as 2.1, which is still in line with McSorley, Lewerke and Horningbrook (3.5, 3.3 and 0.7).
if you are talking about Passer Rating, then Sitkowski did have a 49.3, which is close to Lewerke's (42.2) but well below McSorley and Horningbrook (76.7 and 73.5).
As an aside, Shea Patterson currently has the 3rd highest QBR for the season (85.3), and is on pace for one of the top 50 QBR for a season since 2004.

It’s a JJ tweet from about 5:00 - guessing it has to do with the suspension of Harbaugh that isn’t a punishment for “him”.
(don’t know how to embed a tweet)

You have no idea if it was the same play. Just because it was the same formation does not suggest it was the same play.
That’s not Spindler. He has long hair and stubble.

It was part of the original EO from last week, people just glossed over it. The announcement on Wednesday was just a clarification of the earlier EO.

He would be closer to the "escorts" in the 313.

I still have the Harbaugh banner. Even when I use a browser I have never visited MGoBlog on, so it isn't a cookie thing.
Think it is just you. Here is mine:
Are you sure you're not thinking about Plaxico Burress?
If I did my taxes and saw half of that for my gross income I would be ecstatic! I have a professional degree (engineering) from M, and that is A LOT of money.
It wasn’t there in 1997, the year the halo was installed, so I am fairly sure the message board post linked is incorrect.
With Illinois being our biggest rival, being a safety school seems fitting.
Let's hope his greyscale is under control.
Cool

Not so fast my friend, MSU has to play against their kryptonite in their first game if IU can beat OSU.
c’mon, nobody is going to bite at my snarking pointing out the Roman numeral failing in the OP???
What is with having a thoughtful and thorough discussion on the topic? This blog is for snark!
What is Title XI, and what does it have to do with college sports?
The reason they are comparable is that there is the same amount of science behind each groups beliefs.

That is sort of their jobs. The league commissioner is not an impartial entity, they are employees of the owners.

Are you thinking of Marques Slocum - he was always running trying to catch his Fuck Lion.
Wait, so this kid is in 7th grade? How is he “Southfield A&T” quarterback, when we won’t go there for at least 2 more years? He should be listed as “Southfield Falcons 12u” quarterback.
Mike, obviously. They want his stellar defensive coaching pedigree and he is available.
Dammit, I was going to the EXACT same thing, but took too long to log in.
You do understand that the Peach Bowl is the same “tier” as the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, etc. It is the top tier of bowl games.
He has a QB transfer in there as well.

Black Pit Of Negative Expectations
What was so unlikely about our "upset" of MSU?
By the way, as for up upset, I do not think it means what you think it means.

Furthermore, punts, interceptions, field goals, safeties and turn over on downs do not count as first downs either.
This thread is just bad all around. Terrible title, unfounded conjecture and the OP is telling people to f@ck themselves.
