Agreed that this is dumb…

Agreed that this is dumb. But does anyone really trust Warde to make a good hire?  Maybe in a year it’ll be someone else’s decision to make.

More national championships…

More national championships than the rest of the FBS combined

Thanks for the heads up. …

Thanks for the heads up.  Just scored a room half a mile from Lucas Oil using my Bonvoy points.

In something other than…

In something other than sports?

We're the best team in the…

We're the best team in the Big 10.  Been awhile since that's been the case

Address Is that the right address? Seems to be 9 miles away from the Riverwalk...which doesn't really match the description in the post.

Email

I just sent you an email.  Please respond so I can complete the transfer.

Enjoy the game!

Not an ultra

I'm not an ultra but I have a bit of familiarity with Ahinga's recruitment.  He was committed to UCSB for quite awhile, including during his time in residency with the national program.  I think he was originally committed to State before switching to UCSB.  He then switched his commitment pretty late in the process to Michigan where he played in every game this past season.

I don't know the reason for the transfer to UCSB, but it seems to me like Ahinga was conflicted about where he wanted to go to school and ultimately the combination of playing time, strength of the team, and possibly more scholarship money pushed him back to UCSB.  I would also guess that his relationships with the respective coaching staffs played into the decision.  It's certainly frustrating to lose him though.

In-state recruiting

I have a family member currently playing D1 soccer.  He played in the Development Academy for three years for a Michigan club.  I'm familiar with his recruitment and I also have some knowledge on the recruitment of his teammates and some other players from the state that graduated in the same year as him.

It's a fact that MSU recruits the state much harder than Michigan.  They have a much closer relationship with the big youth clubs in the state and it has definitely paid dividends.  MSU has built a very strong program and about 75% of their players are from Michigan.  I have also heard that MSU's coaches relate to the kids much better and are more approachable than Chaka and his coaches.

Although Chaka's national approach to recruiting seems to be working as he's been bringing in highly-rated players, I worry that it will become more and more difficult to sustain that approach if Michigan doesn't see more success on the field.

Overtime

If this game goes to overtime, what yardline would they have to have the offenses start from in order to ensure that somebody scores at some point?  I'm pretty sure the 25 isn't close enough.

Man up

Stop waiting for the power to go out and just stick a fork in an outlet.  It can't be worse than watching this game.

Jim Beam

Lots of it

Width of a soccer field

The minimum recommended width of a soccer field is about 16 yards wider than the width of a football field.  I don't know if it's feasible to add eight yards on each sideline or not.

It could also be the case that they'll just use a narrower field than usual, being that it's a preseason friendly and not a competitive match.

Student section

Nothing I miss more about the student section, football or basketball, than standing right behind the bench and hearing the coaching from Beilein.  Really made me feel a connection with the team.

Good idea

Good idea, but little brother always sits at the kids table.

Coastal

Can't we just make them honorary members of the Coastal?

Nobody wants to go to West Lafayette and they're essentially already ineligible for the championship game.

True

Penn State football is about to become as relevant as Penn State basketball

Woodson

I wonder what Charles Woodson will think of Worthy's irrational hatred of Missouri.

Auburn Hills

Auburn Hills is hosting for the first weekend of the tournament next year.  It would be nice to get a top 4 seed and be able to play at the Palace.

Millen comparison

I agree that Joe Dumars has done a poor job, particularly in the last five years or so, but he built a team that won an NBA championship.  Matt Millen built a team that went 0-16.  End of comparison.

Good idea

I agree let's bring him back.  Sure he's a little old and hasn't played in awhile but he could be an upgrade at point guard.  At the very least it would be entertaining.

Facebook

He also said that he doesn't use Facebook or Twitter.  So somebody must have set up the Facebook profile for him, which isn't unusual for football coaches.

Christian

Cullen Christian's announcement press conference lasted about an hour and a half, leading to the creation of this shirt.

Cullen Christian

Even Cullen Christian thinks this announcement is taking a long time.

Three

Actually the magic number is three.  It will be two if the Indians lose tonight.

HAIL YES!

That was great.

2009

That's for the opening weekend of 2009

Coach Tressel

If Jim Tressel were still the coach, he would have made this whole suspended license thing go away as long as Pryor agreed to write a 500-word paper on why it's important to be a good student-athlete.

At this rate

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if they awarded us a championship for last season as well.

I don't know

It could use a few more exclamation points.

John Cooper

As nice as it would be for OSU to become a repeat offender, I'd prefer that they hire someone like John Cooper instead of someone just like Tressel.

Obviously not

Otherwise it would still be a Lamborghini dealership.

FIFA

Even if it's clear that bribery led to Qatar getting the World Cup, I don't see FIFA moving the event elsewhere.  FIFA is a terrible organization and they're going to do what they want regardless of what other people think.

Should've spent more time

Maybe if he'd spent more time thinking about them he wouldn't have gone 0-4 against them.

Inge?

I agree with you that the Tigers are not a good defensive team but I do think that Inge also qualifies as a good defensive player.

Nebraska

Steve Nebraska was okay but I'd take the guy pitching for the Mets, Sidd Finch.  Now that guy had a fastball.

Alburquerque has been great.  Sometimes has an issue throwing his fastball for a strike but the slider is so unhittable that it almost doesn't matter.  Hopefully he can keep this going all year.

Incredible

This is great.   I'm so fired up.

Mandich

Sam Madison talking about Jim Mandich before delivering the Dolphins' second round pick.  Nice.

Mouton

That was a lot earlier than I expected him to go.  Kinda like him in a 3-4.

OLB

They also had Ayers and Carter taken right before their pick.

Love it

Never thought that Fairley could be there.

Mallett

Things are looking better and better for Mallett to slip into the first round.

Right

There are plenty of good players still available.  Meaning that they could trade down and still get one of them.

Jimmy Smith?

Maybe this means that the Lions like Smith more than Amukamara.

They may also feel like they could trade back about five spots and still get Amukamara.

Kansas City and Oakland

Also teams not known for their offense.

I like him too

I like him as a starter as well but I'm starting to reconsider.  He wasn't very good in the last game either and both were against Seattle, a team with the worst offense in the AL.

They'll finish

Looking at the radar it looks like they'll definitely finish.  Maybe a short delay at some point but I'd expect nine innings.

Missed opportunity

Sure would've liked to have gotten more than one in the first.  Particularly with runners at second and third and nobody out.

MLB.TV

I don't think there is anything MLB.TV can do about it.  I think it's a matter of MLB's contract with Fox and other national outlets which grants those outlets exclusive rights to broadcast the games.
