They should honor his number

They should honor his number then. He certainly deserves it just as much as Rudy T and Phil Hubbard.

At some point Burke's number should also be up honored. He basically won every major award in 2013.

Our PP was pretty decent with Mantha on it

I'm sick and tired of this argument. Mantha had one powerplay goal against a shitty Montreal team and people act like he was some powerplay specialist.

Glendening has played against some of the best centers in the league, including shutting down Crosby in games. I'm not sure what series you were watching, but Glendening was pretty good against Tampa. The line with him, Abdelkader and Sheahean played a large part in keeping the Tyler Jonnson line off the scorboard in game 3. He was definitely not the reason why the Wings lost the series. If you wanna blame someone, it should be guys in the top 6 who couldn't score.

When was the last time we

When was the last time we retired someone's number, besides the football legends program?

I also find it odd that Marty Turco and Brendan Morrison don't have their number retired. Is there a reason why hockey doesn't retire numbers?

I agree and I hope Blashill

I agree and I hope Blashill learns from the mistakes he made this past season.

Helm is a 3rd line center and

Helm is a 3rd line center and I would rather have him than Sheahan. The modern NHL game is more about speed than size. Also, people need to stop worrying about contracts three years from now. By then, the salary cap should be much higher especially with Vegas getting a team. They could even lose players like Howard and Ericsson during the expansion draft and there have been some rumors that teams will get an extra buyout.

Matt Martin (4th line player)

Matt Martin (4th line player) signed a 4 year contract worth $2.5 million and his ex-linemate Cizikas got a 5 year deal making 3.35 million. That's basically the going rate for good 4th line players. You're not getting a player under 30 to sign for one million. Marchenko recently signed for $1.45 million and he's only played one full season in the NHL.

Exactly

I'm also totally against tanking like the Oilers and Sixers have done. I would rather be middle of the pack and rebuild the right way, than go back to the Dead Wings era and lose on a nightly basis.

I'm a diehard Wings fan going

I'm a diehard Wings fan going back to the 80s and WIM (and even on TMR) is becoming a cesspool like MLive and HFBoards. I understand being critical and not being happy with the direction of the team, but it's over the line when people start throwing personal insults at players, coaches and even ownership. You've been a model franchise for almost 30 years, eventually it was gonna come to an end. Sooner or later a full rebuild is on the way. It's happened to the Lakers, Bulls, Yankees etc. I don't understand why people are so surprised that the team is no longer a Cup contender. Did you honestly think Datsyuk and Zetterberg would stay in their prime forever?

Miller and Ott are only on a

Miller and Ott are only on a one year deal. Helm and Glendening have a role on this team that wouldn't prevent them from adding a top 6 forward or a 2nd pair defenseman. But guess what? There is no top 6 forward or 2nd pair defenseman out there to sign unless you give them a long term contract, which most Wings fans are bitching about every time Holland signs someone. Did you really wanna give Jason Demers a 5 year deal?

I'll criticize Holland for not making trades because we have more than enough forwards and the team obviously needs help on defense. Just call Winnipeg and ask them what they want for Trouba. It's obvious he won't re-sign with them so why not make a pitch for a local guy that helps fill the need as a top paring d-man. Nyquist, Tatar, Mantha, Pulkkinen and Athanasiou are all players I would trade to upgrade the D.

Why not?

Glendening is a very good 4th line center and this would only be a bad deal if he ends up injured. So far in his career he's been very dependable. Sometimes I think Wings fans are like Michigan fans, they are not happy unless they are not happy. It's like every move made by Holland is terrible and he's the worst GM in sports.

I like watching college

I like watching college football on NYE (Peach Bowl on NYE was a nice tradition), but the playoff should be on NYD or later. The BCS had it perfect, where the top bowl games were spread out after the Rose Bowl. I'm also not a fan of hosting both playoff games on the same day.

Speaking of apps...

Anyone else having problems with the official MGoBlue app? It started crashing last week and doesn't work anymore.

Can't believe I was actually

Can't believe I was actually rooting for the Warriors to beat the Cavs. Now I'm glad they lost and this douchebag can suck it. Hopefully they never win a title with that bandwagon jumper Durant.

Why wouldn't he?

Is there a fued between him and Michigan? I know RR didn't wanna do it anymore, but I figured that Hoke or Harbaugh would bring it back at some point.

Until we launch the new site (still in production)

The longest production wait since Duke Nukem Forever.

Not a fan of Reager... would

Not a fan of Reager... would rather just have Ira keep doing the post game show.

Marcus Ray actually does a

Marcus Ray actually does a great job on the radio. He should have a full-time gig on 97.1 with Valenti. They actually did a show together once and it was awesome. Valenti can be good if he's paired with the right partner, but when he's on with Foster(basically his lap dog) it's brutal to listen. He even did a show with Wojo last year and that was some great college football talk.

Karsch and Fithian should

Karsch and Fithian should have a show together on 97.1, instead they have Doug working with the Whale and Fithian with that imbecile Caputo.

You can blame the players

You can blame the players union for agreeing to that. They really miss Gene Upshaw, Winston and Smith were taken to the cleaners by the owners last time around. Hell, NFL players practically put their life on the line every time they take the field and they don't even have guaranteed contracts. Timofey Mazgov is gonna make more money than most NFL players and that's an utter joke. Especially for a league that is expected to top $13 billion in revenues in 2016.

Because the Klinsmann project

Because the Klinsmann project is headed on the right track and I would like to see it through until 2018. Round of 16 at WC 2014 (made it through the group of death), semifinal at Copa America... and hopefully a quarterfinal finish in Russia. Let's not forget all the young talent he's recruited from Europe.

Dan Mullen Pulled A QB Recruit’s Scholarship Offer 16 Days Before He Is Set To Graduate

Mullen had strong interest in

Mullen had strong interest in Michigan, but Hackett had zero interest in him. The back-up candidate was Doug Marrone. There was no chance of Dan Mullen becoming the head coach at Michigan.
