Waited Until After the Game

Started with Wicked Weed - Southern Ambrosia; now I'm onto Founders - DKML. More to come.

TAMU

Texas A&M has been a disappointment this year, especially with three NBA players on their roster. With those players playing well, they definitely have a non-zero chance of upsetting UNC in the second (third) round.

I actually just moved back to Michigan three months ago. I was in Houston for 10 years.

Orphan Black

Final season is currently airing on BBC America.

Another Bet - UM National Championship

I saw on Monday that Michigan was 27/1 to win the national championship. You could definitely make a separate bet to get a pretty substantial payoff.

Rottweiler

Back in the day, my brothers and I used to rent and watch bad horror movies and MST3k them. The worst of the bunch is called Rottweiler, about a bloodthirsty, cybernetic rottweiler. The tag line of the movie is Eat. Sleep. Fetch. Kill. What's not to like? The whole movie is was near unwatchable, including a 10 minute scene of the main character running around naked; dong shots and all. This also included some very "creative" shots of him running over the camera. I don't really remember too much more, other than the lack of killing for such a movie. For your sake, watch at your own risk.

MSU = UF

Does anyone else feel that these two schools have extremly similar resumes? The only difference is, Florida is getting hammered by their close wins to inferior opponents and MSU is getting a pass on theirs.

Based on the fact that the Royals haven't lost a playoff game in over 28 years; the Royals will win in FOUR.

Brian should get on this one before it's too late.

Counter Argument

Michigan has two NFL calibre linemen on their team and the offensive line was considered one of the worst in recent memory. Good players does not always equal good teams.

It faltered in the student section multiple times before getting going. Also, it never even made it to the split wave.

What's the Difference?

Between extreme heat, humidity, heavy rain and snow? I've seen soccer matches played in the other three weather conditions, so why not snow. As someone pointed out before, it's not like the US was playing in different playing conditions.

I'm Fine with the Top 5.....

But you can't have ND at six.  They barely beat a terrible MSU team and potentially below average Purdue team and needed six TOs against Michigan to win by seven. The B1G is terrible and I'm not sure you should be giving that much credit to ND for those wins.

On the other hand, I'm not really sure who else should be in the Top 10.  There seems to be an elite three maybe four teams and the rest will be fighting to make up the most mediocre BCS bowl games since last year.

If you count 2012......

you could have 24, maybe round up to 25 for the first year and 3 every year after that.  The top 25 vote getters by percent (assuming they would be eligible by the sliding scale that Brian has set up), should be the first to get in.

What about a dedicated website, or wiki page that captures the voting history of each athlete and how they stack up to their peers?

I was at the hockey game that night

and couldn't believe that Michigan had lost to NW.  I think the whole student section was in shock.

Hmmmm

Please read Seth's post about this on December 13th.  Very rarely do you get a clear cut two team playoff and this year was no different. In the last 14 years on the BCS (not including this year), there are an average of 5 to 6 "contenders" to finish the season (defined as undefeated BCS and non-BCS teams and one loss BCS teams.)

You say that had Oklahoma St, Stanford and Boise State won they would have earned the right to play for the BCS National Championship.  The issue with that scenario is you then have four undefeated teams. Now what?  You still have the same argument about who should play for the national championship.

The regular season matters to the teams at the top of the polls.  No one but the top two teams will get a shot at the national championship unless one of them loses, and then it's the #3 team in line. It's all a big crock and it won't get fixed until the BCS realizes that there are one too many letters in their name and make some changes for the better of college football fandom.

But...

If Boise doesn't win the MWC and got picked as an at large, they would still close the year with wins against four of the best teams in the country. I still think that would be a pretty impressive resume that not many people could argue with.

Revised for this Season

If you ain't first, you're last, unless you're second, then you still might be first.

New BCS Computer Rating??

Mathlete,

How comfortable are you with your team rakings based on the system that you have developed? and would there ever be a push from you to try and be added into the BCS mess?

Also, after this weekends games, could you post what your top 25 teams are?
