Why do people think that OU in the big 12 will win... They do have to play Houston, tOSU and a rd game against tcu
pretty cool formation

That formation is pretty cool, because the guy running the bubble is inelegible to catch it.  They fact the both a corner and lb sucked up to cover a guy who can't catch a pass is awesome formation design.

ruffin Mcneil

I would take a flyer on ruffin only if lincoln riley came...heck why not go after lincoln riley as young as he is you can groom him to be a "Michigan Man"!!

gallon highlight...

can someone make a gallon highlight tape...been looking for one for a while.  I think he earned one.

2 backs 3 wide...

Keep fitz the primary back with Butt or #36 as an H back type.  Or heck even a Derrick Green Fitz backfield.  Your receivers would be a combination of Gallon, Funchess, and Chesson.  Slide in Dileo and Norfleet from time to time at the slot.  You can run inside zone, power, stretch from that same look.  The problem is Borges has no constraint plays or no imagination which means we will continue running into 8/9 man fronts.  FML!!

pattern matching...don't neg me bro!!!

Just stating my opinion...don't neg me bro!!

I kinda disagree with the pattern matching thing…the setup here is a nickel 3-3-5 it looks like cover 3 cloud.  The outside lb should be pattern reading the #2 receiver not the deep safety.  The safety #19 should be reading the qb and staying deep as the deepest to his side in between his landmarks.  In high school those landmarks are hash to hash not sure about college.    The safety is wrong in that he either forgot his assignment which is to stay deep as the deepest or he lost eye discipline and bit real hard on a route on the other side of the field, which at that moment didn’t concern him.  If he stays deep the msu qb has to throw the pass over the lb…who still should be getting depth (which he didn’t) and the safety who should be coming up once the ball is thrown.  So I do agree that pattern matching was taking place, I just don’t agree that the safety was the one pattern matching.

I really like the split

I really like the split 4 much more compared to the 3-3-5.  Running the split-4 allows you to have 8/9 in the box against power teams.  Against spread teams your outside backers can be replaced with Safety types, which you say you have plenty of. Just my two cents.

quick question...

Why is everyone so down on T. Gordon?? It seems like in all the hubbub (deservable so) about Kovacs people forget that he lead the team in takeaways, is generally in good position, rarely misses tackles, and rarely gets burnt.  He and Kovacs were the reason that we didn't give up many big plays.  He got burnt once against Nebraska other than that I can't remember any other time.  I'm high on a true centerfielder like wilson but having T. Gordon in the fold for the next 2 years seems like a great thing.

My two cents...

As a columbus native I'm sure Jaron is not the first offensive skill position player to sign with michigan.  I don't know the whole list but I know for 100% fact that Marcus Ray played RB in high school.

Wow....

I guess this is Michigan fergodsakes!!!

I disagree...

He was very opportunistic but not all of his takeaways were because he just happened to be there.  Off the top of my head I can think of at least 3 times where he was the turnover creator.  But always being around the ball for a safety is kinda the job description.  Be around the ball and don't get beat deep, are generally the basic rules for a safety.  Except for Nebraksa I don't remember him getting beat deep, and the fact that he lead the team in FR shows that he is always around the ball.

Okla st all the way...

Alabama didn't even win their division...let alone there conference. just cuz the game was close doesn't mean anything. That was the same argument that was used against um in 06. But seeing as how the media already anointed it lsu bama that's what it will b

Reason #436...

Why RR should have gotten another year.  Fire the whole defensive staff after the tOSU game pay for some better assitants, and viola!  We would be looking at a team that is 9-0 easy.  Because I'm sure in trash tornado we would throw the ball 41 times.  Borges is a great offensive mind, but until Morris arrives and can prove he can play expect 8-4 or 7-5.

Penn St---Maybe

I would like to see him at penn state.  They are obviously going to have to clean house.  They have some athletes there...it might be the big ten's worst nightmare but that seems right up his alley.

If I'm Thomas G...

I'm transfering.  Troy really had a better week of practice really...I doubt it.  Seems like politcs to me!!

I guess beating the sec champ means nothing...

I am assuming you don't know RR history. Those undersized players bet the SEC champ in '05. The big XII champ in '07 he had track record of winning. This yr with a 2 yr starter at qb who by the way had a 62% completion rate...I would assume they would have been much better!

Rant

I'm pissed at the people who damaged the rich rod era...we will waste two yrs of the most athletic qb in the country because of it!! This team would be 9-0 easy with rick rod and a d coordinator not named GERG!!!

After listening to the

After listening to the podcast I have a question...where is Cam G??  All off season I kept hearing that he was going to be a SLB, but he had to gain weight.  Why didn't they just move him over to WLB??  He had to have been better than Hawthorne, Herron, and a freshman right??  I mean he played receiver, FS, Spur/Bandit, SLB so that shows he has some athleticism.  Not only that his measureables of 6'3" 215 that seems like good size for the WLB.  So why not flip him?

Interesting note...

In the second picture page NW actually uses an unbalanced formation.  The two receivers at the top of the screen are both on the line.  Meaning the the #2 receiver is actually Ineligible...yet our DB is covering him like he is going out for a pass. By lining up like this NW has out numbered us because we have 4 defenders guarding 2 eligible recievers.  Because of this alignment it seems that this play was designed to go away from the trips set because of the numbers advantage to the boundary side.  By getting JR to commit you have a 2 on 1 numbers advantage instead of a 1 on 1.  This play design would have still gained 5/10/15 yards easy depending on our tackling.

3:20 Defense video

At 3:20 on the defensive video it looks like someone studies St. Saban...
