Dude can recruit like no other, and showed that he can motivate and develop talent at SC. Yes his first HC job was a failure but i would at least bring him in and talk to him. Seems like he learned alot in the years since Ole Miss.
And a rare sports talk guy who is knowledgeable about college football. He is a little shot out of a cannon but their show is really entertaining. And, this was a "bold prediction" for 2012.
FWIW, Petros made a bold prediction for 2012 last night when he said that Michigan and USC would meet in the Orange Bowl next year for the National Championship. Cue the heads exploding in the SEC, he took a call from a guy in MS of course who sounded like a reject from Finebaum.
And I couldn't agree more about Bill King, he is extremely knowledgeable, fair and spares no sacred cows.
Bill King and Chris Childers are the only reasons to listen to that channel, unless you are a 'Bama fan. Bill got moved to 6-9 AM and Childers is now on at night. They are both head and shoulders above any other goofs on that channel.
Eddie George and Mark Packer are your typical conventional wisdom spewers, filling hour and hours with their arrogance, ignorance and stupidity.
Listen to Petros and Money on Fox Sports, Petros is really knowledgeable about college football and brings a nice west coast flavor to it. And they are funny as hell.
Way too many people profit from the current system to want to change it. I agree 100% with Whitlock, but that doesn't excuse what Tressel did. You can either work to change the system (he didn't) or play by the rules (he also didn't). If you get caught you will and should suffer the consequences. And positioning yourself as a paragon of virtue and integrity while lying to cover up your rule breaking makes it worse.
I saw the same kind of blind loyalty from IU hoops fans after Bobby Knight choked out Neil Reed, threw a flower pot at a 70 year old secretary, and screamed at some freshman who said "What's up Knight?" The excuses that Knight was "repositioning" Reed on the floor with his hand around Reed's neck sound awfully close to "really officer, I was just helping that sheep over the fence."
A weird confluence of events...A Dead show, Hash Bash, and Mich in the Final Four. I was actually working in CT at the time, had to take a semester off, and my pledge trainer was on the back page of the NY Post for being on top of the chinese restaurant on South U during the "celebration."
If anybody deserved it recently, Alabama did and they didn't even get close to the Death Penalty. SMU's hubris (arrogance+ignorance+stupidity) was so over the line that the NCAA had no choice. SMU basically dared them to pull the trigger and they did.
Personally, Borges can look like Jabba the Hut and roll around the Big House on a throne carried by scout teamers if he can establish a decent run game and score some points, as far as I am concerned.
I guess he was wondering why someone would want to leave his beloved NFL, but he thought it is weird that GM was looking to go back to the college game from a top 10 NFL defense. I don't care why he did it, I'm just glad he did.
I remember being excited about Mattison the first go 'round, as he was one of the architects of the vaunted ATM "Wrecking Crew" defenses of the late 80s/early 90's. I think I read some where that one of the reasons he left is that he had issues with Llyoyd, anyone know about that? I think it is a great get for us-dude has a sweet pedigree at multiple stops including the Ravens. POW!
Hey may not be sexy, but he had a winning record at Minnesota and put Kansas football back on the map. Won the Jug from us for the first time since Holtz, won some big games there. He's an OSU guy who gets the Rivalry, has midwest ties, and isn't Brady Hoke.
Rivals said he had a handshake deal for the 49ers gig. So all these monkeys are flinging shit at the wall and hoping something sticks. I'm judging the result, not the process.
If I were keeping Rich Rod, I would bring in Shannon to run the defense, and if that means RR's drinking buddies are gone so be it. Shannon is a great D Coordinator and has a good line on south Florida recruits. But he would have to have autonomy.
Watching that team yesterday, it became apparent to me that we were Denard and a bunch of guys. The faith that I had in RichRod dissipated yesterday because of that poor showing. Yes, I think they would be better next year, but the damage has already been done. It has been painful watching Wolverine Nation tear itself apart week after week. I think he is a great coach who in retrospect was a bad fit and who was put in a tough position with poor support. I know from personal experience that it happens.
I do have faith in Dave Brandon to get the right guy. Yes, the last month has been irritating but based on his decisions so far, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. If he decides that Brady Hoke is the best choice, then so be it. After all, how many "Downfall" videos by Auburn fans were made after they hired Gene Chizik?
To me that was the biggest disappointment. A veteran O line and nobody but DRob could get any yards on the ground. Running V Smith on first down = Lloyd thowing short of the sticks on 3rd down. Do. Not. Want.
I was an undergrad at TCU in 85 when Kevin Murray, the A&M Qb got caught driving a new 280Z. So the Dallas TV stations went around asking the local teams if they had anything going on. Jim Wacker, the TCU coach at the time, delivered an adament no. Turns out he had 8 players being paid from the previous regime. He kicked them off, self reported, and crushed our hopes for mediocrity forever. Then Bobby Collins comes along and takes that stuff up to 11, even involving the Governor. Good stuff, my DVR will be set.

If Urb put a couple of hats on a table and picked up the one that he was going to coach?
ALL IS WELL!!!!!!
Well played as usual.
Tremendous!

I am hopeful, but also skeptical based on the last couple of years. I do have confidence in Mattison and think he will make big strides.
Way to go Blue!
I couldn't have put it better, I felt the same way that you did about the Gator Bowl.
Haven't looked into rooms yet, but I always have good luck with Hotwire.

And RichRod didn't see the D as a problem until it was too late. Mattison wouldn't have come for RichRod.
Wait, what?
and free bus passes to north campus.

Thanks man, now I have something to do when I'm not playing GT5 (or checking MGoBlog)

Schwartz has them going in a good direction tho, le't hope that WC Ford doesn't fuck it up.
Redundant. Thanks for sharing your exclusive insight into Rich Rod's coaching tenure.
"Are you a William Hung fan?" I am if he bangs!
Taught by Andy Reid or D McNabb.

First round of Jamo is on me.

Thanks for the feedback, didn't think about those not wanting to click.
would absolutely be a viable candidate. And a big plan B hire, if DB could pull it off.
The Cowboys have become the Raiders. As a Giants fan, I am pretty excited with that.

Keep the faith and Go Blue!
I care about Michigan. Fuck the media, they can ballwash the SEC all they want, I loved seeing that turd Bielema get beat.

Flipped over the desk and said
My last game was Bo's last beat-down of Ohio State.
And get compliments and "dude, where did you get that?" every time I wear it.

They brought their fuckin' toys with 'em!

That muck ain't gonna rake itself.
