If Carr had won one more of those OSU games (so that his record was 7-6), would you feel entirely differently about him?
|16 hours 5 min ago||That was one of my proudest||
That was one of my proudest moments as a Michigan fan. Those interviews are absurd.
Honestly, I can't think of a better, more appropriate representative of UM. Carr was smart, classy, and cantankerous, but he was cantankerous when others weren't being smart and classy. Damn straight that's Michigan.

"Lloyd Carr numbers" (from Wikipedia):
I'm fine with that bar, especially when you throw in that he ran a clean program and was a classy, great spokesman for the university.

I loved that Calipari line. Between this and Dantonio responding to a question about DUI guy with "he's a playmaker," it's already been a good day.

I can't imagine Hoke would answer this question (and he might not know), but I'd love to know what the starting OL would be right now if we had both Glasgow and Kalis available.

My guess is that Michigan's rivals are more bloodthirsty with Michigan than we (and others) are with them, so there's more demand for an article making Michigan look bad than one making MSU look bad. I also think there's more self-policing among UM students, alumni, faculty, fans, etc., than among the same groups for MSU. I think - and hope - that if UM had handled the Appling/Payne incident like MSU did, the UM community itself would have been in an uproar.

Wow, that's a lot of dumb in just five words. Irrelevant, sleazy, inaccurate, poorly written, ... . Congratulations.
|1 day 9 hours ago||The different media coverage||
The different media coverage that UM and MSU get is hilarious. Nationally, it's a sign of one school being high-profile and the other not, but locally I don't really get it. The difference in how the Gibbons and Payne/Appling things was one example, and if Michigan had a story that even closely resembled the Bullough thing, Jim Carty and Michael Rosenberg would probably run back to their own jobs because they smelled blood and Drew Sharp would shit himself in joy.

Yeah, because everyone around here was furious when Nuss was hired.

I'm not weighing in on the OL thing, because what the hell do I know right now, but boo to burning Mo Ways' redshirt just for special teams play. I understood the need to do that a couple of years ago when we probably didn't have enough non-true-freshmen to handle special teams well. That can't be the case now, can it? Grrrr.
|1 day 15 hours ago||With the NCAA being what it||
With the NCAA being what it is, I'm fully expecting a February announcement that yes, Isaac hypothetically could have played in 2014.
|1 day 22 hours ago||At this point there's no||
At this point there's no doubt in my mind that I want Isaac to play this year. My reasons:
1. Right now, the best way for Michigan to make 2017 season (Isaac's possible 5th year) successful is to make the 2014 season successful. Winning now will help us in the long run -- probably more than getting that spacing in our RB depth chart.
2. My sense is that Isaac is a really good fit for this offense. My understandings of inside zone blocking and Ty Isaac the RB both could be flawed, but it seems like the best RB for inside zone is one who cuts smartly, decisively, and quickly and Isaac is the closest we have to that guy.
Plus, if they really wanted to, the coaches could still RS Green or Smith at some point over the next few years. I really doubt that will happen - it rarely does - but if the RB depth chart ever starts to look terrifying (unlikely) it's in the coaches' back pocket.

I love this. I'm not sure how much we can learn from such a small sample (in such an artificial setting), but I think it's so fun to see people excited about things like this. You squeezed a lot of information out of it, too, and your analysis is interesting.
Plus, "Bo Dever is a bad motherfucker" is a fun new entry to my beliefs list.

This is the only one I remember getting choked up about. For me it was his press conference after the game when he talked about telling all of his players that he loved them and thanking them because that's what leaders do.

Okay, a request for full disclosure amid the many classy posts in this thread:
What was your honest emotional response to seeing this? I'm talking about the first thing that went through your mind/body.
If I'm honest, mine was pleasant surprise. I'm not proud of that, but any "Man, that's a shame" from me is really forced. I hope the guy has a great life... and that I never see him in an OSU uniform again.
|3 days 14 hours ago||Maybe we just have different||
Maybe we just have different perspectives on how awful that sucker punch was. If he tried to hit someone in his car - in order to hurt him - would you feel differently?
Personally, I can be pretty forgiving with drugs, theft, and even a DUI (since the intent isn't to hurt someone, even though the mistake is outrageously stupid). I just have a hard time forgiving a deliberate effort to badly hurt another person with another opportunity to play Michigan football. I know that fights happen - I've had those myself - but a strong-ass sucker punch to the face is, to me, a different kind of deal.
|3 days 14 hours ago||In most cases I'd agree, but||
In most cases I'd agree, but that was an ugly moment with clear intent to badly hurt someone (that resulted in him badly hurting someone). I hope that Hoke doesn't just cut contact with York, and I doubt he will, but some transgressions really are bad enough that they warrant showing a kid the door.
