- 247's composite ranking has ND at #7 nationally with seven 4-stars and two 3-stars. We're #5 with seven 4-stars and three 3-stars (apparently including Pallante).
- They're still a bunch of chickenshit assholes.
- No, Jones didn't "choose MSU over Michigan." When both schools were options, he hadn't made a chioce. When he chose MSU, Michigan wasn't available to him.
- Yes, the Michigan coaches believe that he's a Michigan-caliber prospect.

I'm not completely disagreeing, but Thomas Gordon has clearly lived up to - and outplayed - his hype. |

If we read the same thing, he said "apply to" not "enroll at." Slight difference there. |

Yeah, this fall I think I might turn down the volume on Ole Miss games and play a recording of the 30-for-30 theme music just so I can feel like I'm watching it happen live. Then I'll turn the volume back on but smoothly slip in a "What if I told you..." right before everything the announcers say. "What if I told you... three yard gain up the middle?" "What if I told you... first down Rebels?" |
| 1 day 21 hours ago | I dislike most of your posts, |
I dislike most of your posts, so maybe I'm overreacting to this one, but I really hate this view. It is an exceptionally human - and, frankly, heartening - reaction to a situation like this when people want to talk, convey sympathy, donate, and, if they're in a position to, do what they can to help. There's nothing self-serving about anonymous internet posters feeling sympathy and sadness and wanting to talk to other human beings about it. It's probably that same part of people that's driving a bunch of people to do really unpleasant things right now to help out others they've never met. Most here obviously can't help in that way. |

God bless, man. If you can think of a good, targeted way to handle donations (or know of one), the MGoCommunity is a generous one. I'm happy to help if I can. |

And Dumars' son played with Burke, right? I'm sure the Pistons have done their homework on him, and I wouldn't read much into the lack of an interview. |

To be clear, because it wasn't to me, that's 6'1" in shoes. This is from NBADraft.net... Trey Burke -- There was some concern about Burke actually being 6'1 in shoes, but fear not, he's 5'11.75 barefoot making him a legit 6'1, and has terrific length with a 6'5.5" wingspan. |

Your personal Notre Dame update: |
| 1 week 2 days ago | Hoke is right. The ONLY |
Hoke is right. The ONLY reason for ND to stop that game is to cut down on their expected losses. Compared to teams like Purdue and MSU, we provide a more appealing game for their fans, better TV ratings, a better recruiting atmosphere, better strength if schedule, and on and on. The problem? They probably see us as a 50-50 win for the coming future, while they probably see MSU and Purdue as 80-20 or 75-25. They've apparently decided that those extra 5-6 losses over the next 20 years are too high of a cost to justify. |
| 1 week 2 days ago | It's an interesting, tough |
It's an interesting, tough call about the UM degree. On one hand, assuming that he wants playing time (and isn't going to an Ivy League school), he probably won't get a better degree than he'd get from Michigan. On the other hand, if he wants a shot at a professional football career, he's probably better off getting on the field somewhere than hoping for an opportunity that might never come in Ann Arbor. |

Most seem to think we're still looking for something like 1 RB, 1 OL, 1-2 WR, 1-2 DL, 1 LB, and about 3 DBs. |
| 1 week 4 days ago | The one site that is |
The one site that is relatively low on Marshall, Rivals, has him at 205 lbs. That probably means that he was a completely different dude when they rated and ranked him. Assuming that he carries the extra weight well, I could see him moving up when Rivals revises its rankings. (Then again, he could always move down on the other sites.) |
| 1 week 4 days ago | Marshall is different from |
Marshall is different from Gholston in a lot of ways, but to the broader point, I think it's good that we're recruiting some boom or bust guys. It's obviously hard to project, but there aren't many positions that look thin on our rosters for 2014, 2015, etc. I'd rather take a few chances, knowing that some won't work out, to increase the likely number of dominant players we have in a few years. We can afford to take some of those gambles. |

I no longer care how the Fab Five story ends. I just want it to end. Fully embrace them, fully turn them away... I don't care anymore. It just feels strange that we keep punching ourselves in the face with this. |
| 2 weeks 1 day ago | It's way too early to |
It's way too early to confidently say something like, "Based on his offers / height, I would assume this kid will be a low 4-star in the 2015 rankings." He's listed at 5'9", right? I just looked up 247's top 5 CBs from the 2013 class. #1 - 5'11" Vernon Hargreaves III (five-star). #2 - 5'10.5" TreDavious White (five-star). #3 - 6'0" Kendall Fuller (five-star). #4 - 5'10" MacKensie Alexander (four-star). #5 - 6'0.5" Jalen Ramsey (four-star). Especially if Crawford grows a little, there's no reason to believe that he can't be at least a mid-/high-four-star. |
| 3 weeks 11 hours ago | The problem is that Beilein |
The problem is that Beilein is so good with talent development that after a year, the 20th-30th ranked prospects at Michigan will probably be as NBA ready as the 1st-10th ranked prospects at most other schools. I am okay with this problem. |
| 3 weeks 11 hours ago | I agree. At this point, I |
I agree. At this point, I think the only reason we'd ever have a seriously down year with Beilein (i.e., no NCAA tournament) is if we see an exodus to the NBA one year with early entrants. |

http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/semi-ot-siap-great-article-about-jabrill-pep... For the full explanation, read the beginning of that thread. For a summary, just figure that MLaw06 behaves like a 9-year-old. |
| 3 weeks 1 day ago | Congratulations?Let's see, |
Congratulations? Let's see, of the people who come to MGoBlog now, maybe 0.1% of them ever saw your thread and read that article. It was, after all, six months ago and long before Peppers seemed like a probable commit. Even of those 0.1% (I have no idea if it's 0.1%), most of them would probably like to re-read it, since they were obsessive enough to read a thread about this kid when he still seemed very unlikely to commit. They probably don't mind this thread. Let's say we're talking about 0.01% of MGoBlog that read this story six months ago and has no interest in re-reading it now. Of them, the vast majority probably really don't care about redundancy spread across six months, so maybe we're talking about 0.0001% of MGoBlog that has already read this story and now has a problem with its existence. So congratulations. [And some apologies, since I can be pissy at 1:40am after a long day.] |
| 3 weeks 2 days ago | I think fans often mess up |
I think fans often mess up the "Did he have a ___ offer?" thing. Take Shane Jones, for example. If Jones had accepted his offer when it was initially made, he obviously would have had a place in the class. The Michigan coaches therefore thought very highly of him, at least at one point. When his spot was taken (by Gedeon?), Jones no longer had a spot, and he wasn't considered for one of the "best player available" spots. So what does this mean with respect to shit-talking with MSU fans? My sense with Marshall is that he's both a Michigan-caliber prospect and one who might choose MSU over Michigan while both are options. If that happens, congrats to MSU for winning that battle. |
