I've taught in both systems.
If you don't care about college credits, and just want the best education for your daughter, IB all the way, and it's not even close.
The AP is a mishmash of tests, not an integrated curriculum.
I recommend your daughter do IB, then keep/create portfolios of work to submit to colleges in her application, often you can get credit that way. Also consider taking placement tests once admitted to the college, you can place out or get college credit that way, even if you don't take AP classes or tests.

I had forgotten about that! I'm dying!
BTW, went to a talk by Minnesota's OC and they have an awesome system for teaching motion and formation that is simple. I wonder if Harbs uses something similar. It looks like it since he's able to call so many formations on one play.
The system designates starting position, motion, and final position, but it would be really easy to add a few "final" positions in the call.

When sticking to the rules taught a sense of trustworthyness and integrity.
I also disagree with your assessment that he's autobenching against or without reason. There may not be a reason that you or I can easily discern, but that doesn't mean there isn't a reason.
It's been my experience that doing what you say you're going to do is one of the few ways to get young men to respect you.
|1 year 8 weeks ago||I humbly disagree on the autobench||
When you're working with young men, sometimes you have to lose a few battles to win the war.
Last year I was teaching this Div1a kid who was just a complete waste of space in terms of work ethic and classroom performance. But our head BB coach was too much of a spineless snake to discipline him. And our dean of students was also a pushover for the athletes. I can just imagine that even at a school like Michigan there are BB players with similar character defects, if not the whole suite combined in one ass-wipe. Luckily for that guy, he's over 7ft, so he was able to find a college coach that would also let him slide.
If Belien has certain rules and he sticks to them even in the face of short term games, bully for him. It helps to set expectations for the kids so that you don't have arguments or flareups down the line.
I'mma let the man with the awesome resume' do his thing without grumbling, even if I don't fully understand him. And besides, autobenching is what Norman Dale would do.

|1 year 9 weeks ago||Fuck You||
Fuck you dave brandon.
|1 year 9 weeks ago||Keep calling it like you see it, Brian.|
|1 year 9 weeks ago||The difference||
is that Hoke's failings are only twofold.
1. He was just an above average MAC coach instead of a Bo, Lloyd, or Harbaugh.
2. The Morris incident, which probably arose from detachment and incompetence rather than malice or a true disregard for player safety. And that was a pretty terrible incident that he has been and will be raked over the coals for.
But under a different AD, If those were his only sins he would have been fired in due course in the usual way coaches are for not winning enough, and not much would have been said. It was Brandon's lies and general ass-hattery that exasberated the issue.
Furthermore, Hoke is generally well liked by nearly everyone so long as they don't consider his winning percentage, and every player will testify that he does care about them as people and their health and safety.
Hoke was charged with overseeing the football players. His damage was limited to the field. Brandon's interactions with the fans and all his money grubbing decisions were much more damaging with far reaching consequences.
Also, Brian said that Hoke will get a separate obit.

First off, WOOOHOOO, and job well done. But on the other hand...how hard was it to identify the only and number one viable candidate for the job, who may or may not have already been thinking about coming here when his NFL contract wasn't extended last summer.
This is a moment of Euphoria and all praise Jim Hackett. But this is just one (albeit the most important one) aspect of the job. If you could go back in time a couple months and think about the laundry list of everything wrong with Dave Brandon and what an "Ideal" AD would be like, how many of those items has Hacket shown, SO FAR?
That said, getting the money, the boosters, and handling it in a classy way are all commendable, and I'd be pretty happy if he were hired permanently. BUT, let us let things cool down a bit instead of making an emotional decision.
We've seen interim coaches lose the interim tag while basking in the glory of a bowl win, sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. If Hackett realy is the guy, and he meets all the criteria (which I think he may just be) great! But if he's not suitable for some as yet unseen reason, lets not give him the job when we're not thinking critically.
So to summarize: HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH! HARBAUGH!

|1 year 29 weeks ago||He's a business man||
All he sees are dollar signs and new ways to screw over his customers to squeeze every penny out of them.
|1 year 29 weeks ago||It was a bad hire from the start||
When Hoke was hired my immediate thought was that we were returning to the days of high floor-low ceiling, 8-4 every year until the next coach could come in 4 years later. I was wrong. The ceiling was elevated because of Denard and rainbow farting unicorns blowing lucky bounces and armpunt receptions our way. The floor looks to be much lower, with already a 7-6 season and this year looks to be worse.
I wrote this four years ago:
That was me biting my tongue about the coaching change, taking a "Wait and See" attitude. And instead venting my anger at everything else. I wanted to be supportive of the new guy, even if I didn't believe in him.
Now I can openly say he's the wrong guy for the job. I wanted Jim Harbaugh 4 years ago. I want him for coach now. But the fact is he probably won't be. And there just aren't any other obvious choices.

If Hoke is going to be the executive type HC, these two moves have restored my faith in him. He did what Lloyd wouldn't have in firing Al who obviously needed to go. Apart from some miracle finishes, this is just what Hoke, et, AL are. We're an 8-4 program without hail mary's against ND, NW, and VaTech.
Hoke's a good recruiter, but until we get a real offensive coordinator that's not stuck in the stone age with his head up his ass, you should all just settle in for 8-4 every year.

are misunderstanding me. I'm not digging at Fitz, just noting the he has this quirk of breaking off a long run late in a game after the defense has been worn down, and when he's healthy, it's probably due to his good conditioning.
|2 years 27 weeks ago||found them||
Nebraska 2011, 07:33 MICH - Toussaint, F. 31 yd run (Gibbons, B. kick) 1 play, 31 yards, TOP 0:08, NEB 17 - MICH 45
Illinois 2011, 02:24 MICH - Toussaint, Fitz 27 yd run (Gibbons, Brendan kick)2 plays, 40 yards, TOP 0:48, MICH 31 - ILL 14 Minnesota 2012, 03:05 MICH - Toussaint, F. 41 yd run (Gibbons, B. kick) 4 plays, 50 yards, TOP 2:12, MICH 35 - MINN 13
And Saturday's game was a 27 yarder with 1:12 left on the clock.

Very apropros. I'm guessing the banana could also represent how they feel towards bubble screens.
Fitz is the king of late TD's that do nothing. I should skim the boxscores, but it seems like that's at least the 4th or 5th time he's done that. Maybe it speaks to his conditioning and this is a sign that he's really, truly, back to his old self.

But one small point, Reynolds doesn't have to get off the L.o.S. to make a legal formation. The rules state you need at least 7, with 5 having inelligible numbers. You can have more than seven, but only the ends will be elligibile to go downfield on a pass. On a run play, it doesn't matter.

American actors are culled from the masses to find the "Super Star". British actors are trained professionals. British superstars are far and few between, but british character actors are everywhere. Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellan, Sean Bean, 90% of the Game of thrones cast.
If you're looking for someone to be larger than life, you get an american, if you want something more nuanced, you go for a brit or austrailan.
|2 years 45 weeks ago||It lacked||
It lacked Avengers' sense of humor. I can't think of any really "light" moments where the audience has a chance to chuckle. It kind of took itself a tad too seriously.
|2 years 45 weeks ago||IMHO||
It's not quite as good as the Batrilogy, but I'd say if you enjoyed them, you'll enjoy this. I feel like it would have been better if they had made it two movies instead of one. Some of the character development gets shortchanged. The ending is a bit grittier than I expected, I wouldn't take kids younger than 12 to it. Some of the fight scenes drag on because of the comic-bookish quality of superbeings not being able to get hurt. So that deflates some of the tension.
But my god, the visuals are awesome. Everything about Krypton has been updated, I think for the better. The cast is outstanding.
Some people comlain about the flashbacks, but if you're familiar with Nolan's work, you should be fine. It's entertaining. If you like Snyder's and Nolan's flicks, you'll like this movie.

So, like, the defense played better. Fitz starting to show his old self. I'm gonna chalk up the interceptions to 'crazy shit that always happens in southbend' and weather. Mealor might be the answer at center. I'm surprised we didn't try more downfield jumpballs. I'm not surprised we lost. I feel better about the MSU game since we get them at home. Probably will lose to nebraska and ohio on the road. 8-4. Same thing I've been predicting since january.

Always nice to have HQ video instead of just streams.
So I don't have time to do full game wraps (with pics!) and I've changed my name since I don't live in seoul anymore. Here's some bullets from the game. Warning: I'm a bit drunk right now.
1. Will Campbell.... eeeeeeeeesh.
2. Desmond Morgan. He is what he is. I.e. not athletic enough to make plays. But if he's not getting beat out by others.... there's probably a reason.
3. Jake Ryan, talent, like a homing missle without such a great homing mechanism. Great upside, the second half Airforce really went after him. He made them pay on a couple of critical downs, but when they cracked on him.... ugh.
4. Bad scheme with the corners our option assignments were utter shit.
5. Dammit Countess!!!!!!
6. Black and Clark look like they could improve with experience, but eeeeeeesh.
7. Funchess! wooooooo!!!!! Needs to gain a few pounds to be a factor in the run game, but he's got the height and speed to be a receiving threat.
8. Gardner. hrmph. If he had been practicing as a WR for the last three years, he'd be more productive. I'm really hating on the Ann Arbor PD right now. Stonum is sorely missed.
9. Gallon, there was a reason we winced everytime he was returning punts as a frosh. He's a slot receiver, any other use of him is suboptimal
10. same goes for Roundtree.
11. Thank god for Umass
12. I reallly, realllly, reallllllllllllllllllly hope we beat state this year. I don't think there's any way we beat ohio, short of a braxton miller injury.
13. 8-4 looks like a ceiling unless the D-line improves.
