to play football, not to play trumpet

this is a sad story. Some are beyond the pale. This looks to be one of those cases. This dog won't hunt.
My best to his family. This is not fun. Hopefully he bottoms out.
|1 day 8 hours ago||Molk ... followed by Khoury and Miller who both left early...||
I wonder why...
OP obviously didn't understand the book. Molk loves the game. He hates the league. I think he hates himself a bit as well.

People talk about animals at auctions.
Animals are not recruits.
People shouldn't talk about recruits like animals at an auction??
Weaver is going to do just fine. He almost and still might have a chance to play for Michigan. These recruits are exceptional athletes. That is fun to talk about. That logic works, I think.
No one is talking about recruits as animals. They are talking about recruits as recruits. That is OK.... here... have a fuck.
|2 weeks 8 hours ago||Exactly half...let's talk about whether RR got a raw deal...||

|2 weeks 15 hours ago||So you are saying commitable offers go out to kids without||
credible tape or a 1:1 with a coach?
Harbaugh has a right to see these recruits before handing out offers. USA today does not coach this team. Just because Wisconsin takes Swenson doesn't mean he fits at Michigan either. You go to the school but you play for the coach.
|2 weeks 15 hours ago||Greenstein shares his myopia with half this board..||
and Michigan fanbase. I think there is a larger disconnect under the surface here that jibes harshly with the reality of modern CFB.
Great post...thanks BiSB.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||What else is CLEAR Steve...Do you really know this?||
Richardson is likely to land well... as will the others.
Committing to Michigan is not winning the lottery. It comes with expectations. We don't know what those are or how they are communicated. These kids will play CFB. Yes that hurts but not in the way you are intimating.
Every year Michigan takes early applicants. Do you know what happens when they get Senioritis? Their acceptance is rescinded if a proper explanation is not made. It's not just sports. It's life.
Regarding fitness for playing on scholarship for Michigan, only Harbaugh can speak to the expectation and/or explanation. If the kids want to walk on despite Harbaugh - they can - preferred or not.
You don't know what is going on here.
No mistake...this response is appropriate.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Harbaugh cares what people think... what makes you think he||
doesn't? The fact that he released his actual phone number to anyone to call him directly shortly after showing up at Michigan? The fact that he showed up at a Michigan Ultimate practice and offered football facilities to the students? The fact that he hasn't checked in on this board post?
Why would he address these concerns when he is working 24/7 trying to pull this class together?
This something you are talking to knows not of what they speak.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Offers are good for everyone. Verbal commits are bad when not||
backed with good faith. Camp offers raise a kid's visibility. Handing out offers is not the issue. Accepting verbals from kids too early might be an issue. It depends.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Basketball recruiting is different from football...but honesty||
is relevant to both.
We don't know what is going on with these kids. Antwaine is not the same as Swenson, I think.
Let's see where he lands before we release the Kraken. I have a feeling where he lands will explain this.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||This seems about accurate.||
This seems about accurate.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||To be fair - this is just another click in the media cycle...||
the only way to make this call is to be Swenson or Harbaugh/Drevno. It all comes down to what was done - both on the field and in communications between the two.
Like Brian/Sam said - there will be mudslinging - this click sounds about accurate.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Keep your statements... we will never know the whole truth...||
the best thing to do is take it like a man.
I'm sticking with "hmmm...". It seems to fit best. Harbaugh is doing what he should. Kids are earning their scholarships.
I bet there is never an early OL offer on the scale of uncertainty to match Swenson in the Harbaugh era.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||I think we are finally||
done with this...oh crab...another board post is up. That should make the under a certainty.
That one is already over 400.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||This will be the last time a Hoke recruit is turned away...||
Second season of a new coach only happens once. Harbaugh will not be unclear to recruits whom he was the first to contact IMO.
This is an unusual event, I think.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Leave it alone... he never officially visited...||
there's more to this than your sense of honor. Let this go.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Hmm... not sure I get the difference...||
terms he was unwilling to accept. That sounds like turning away to me but it also sounds like you know more about the details.
Glasgow was coming from a walk-on role and personal issues - but never left the team. Bosch was a rare true freshman who played on the line and a scholarship player who left for personal reasons. If they were offered the same terms they weren't equal. I don't know what Bosch was told when he left by Hoke but Harbaugh did not communicate with him until he came back.
It didn't seem fishy to me that Harbaugh did what he did. There was a line and Bosch couldn't toe it. I appreciate your insight in anycase. Harbaugh's deal to Bosch seemed straight up IMO.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||We don't know exactly what happened here...||
it is similar to Pipkins - to any transaction - if you aren't in the room ... you don't know.
The second year of a new coach is a critical class. A coach gets his players. Swenson needs to make this good if he feels he has been slighted. There are plenty of CFB programs that will give him that chance.
There is no dishonor in deals done in the open. Sometimes there is honor in deals done in private. There is always revenge.
If more comes out on this I will change my opinion accordingly. For now... it's crunch time.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||What else haven't you heard that proves your position...||
you and the OP have an honor bone that is based on innuendo. The twitters and MGoBlog don't know all.
Swenson doesn't wan't to play for a coach who doesn't want him. He will realize that and move on if he wasn't told that to his face.
Commits taken this early are silly - especially for linemen whose development is years away when they matriculate.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||On what terms?||
That is the issue.
I was surprised as anyone when Kyle Bosch was turned away. No one seems to feel too bad about that. Harbaugh was clear with him. There is nothing here that says Harbaugh was not clear to Swenson.
Nobody takes a commit that early without reservation. Swenson was Hoke's commit. You need to know the detail.
You will never know the detail.
Time to sit back and go hmmm.... nothing more.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Hmm... does it bother you that Coaches are fired...||
when winning doesn't happen?
Football is to college as bull fighting is to agriculture. I didn't make that up.
Players commit to coaches. When a coaching change happens depth charts and recruiting boards reset.
If a player wants to play for the new coach he has to make that good. Not the other way around. If communication was not done here that is on Harbaugh. If Swenson wants to play here and doesn't that is on Swenson.
Commiting to a school is not winning a lottery. It's a work for school deal contingent on the approval of the head coach.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||+1 for posting this...||
This deserves a much larger discussion than a thread/diary/blog/book/life time could address.
+1 for the OP for going there.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||This is what happens when so many OSU players go early...||
there will be more flipping methinks.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||How hard is he to keep "on"||
How hard is he to keep "on" the field...? That could be a problem.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Miggle - does that mean he would have paid a deposit?||
Not sure if that is included in a scholarship offer or not.
Undoubtedly this passed compliance at PSU - it takes too much work to ochestrate without program coordination on the highest level.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Of course not...||
Won't fit in your binda!
|2 weeks 6 days ago||Unfortunately he still gets paid by Michigan through 2016...||
did I read that wrong? If he got an NFL coordinator job - Michigan would be off the hook... not so for CFB. Bummer. Best to Hoke... but he could coach a non D-1 school ... there's no question.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||True||
It's not the Coeds... Q.E.D.
By process of elimination...it's the money...which as we all know women abhor.

This made me smile...your daughter is going to have you eating out of her hand soon enough. I see an allowance bump in her future.
