|1 day 15 hours ago||This hurts my feelings...||
Seriously, if a thread is deleted it should come with consequences. The OP should be docked half the distance to the goal line in vaunted MGo points (I would retroactively suffer on this front but have no issues with it.) This thread was beyond silly.
WD might need some professional or meaningful intervention at some point. It's borderline unhealthy and this community for the most part supports his delusional state. Obviously he has never played football (not that there is anything wrong with that)...just saying.

Dumb post Corky. I'm really really sorry to say that. Please accept my sincerest apologies.
This thread on the other hand is becoming quite entertaining.

I must neg this...

Perhaps the book will give me more perspective. What a sacrifice for the love of football. I get that but the sense of loss is strong on Kelly's site, these excerpts and, I assume, the book.
No game is worth giving up 30+ years with your family. Reading the website greatly mellowed my love for the game from fanatical to desperate. I hope we can play without such losses. It's very hard to read.

Football doesn't mean much in the real world. Neither does sport. Yet we watch and cheer. We'll talk about a team with a nostic "we" that can be patronizing and vilifying but is bred of a collective identity. Since sport defines winning and losing it provides a tidy contrast for anyone to draw a sense of identity.
If someone calls some Wolverine fans Walmart Wolverines I wouldn't think any more of it than Michigan players calling fans muggles or collegians gathering for an alumni celebration. Part of it is identity and part shared experience and nothing more. Collegiality can be defined on any boundary.
Personally I'm a stoic. Ultimately life is suffering with a brief interlude of knowledge and joy. If you are a Michigan fan - I'm sure you can appreciate the suffering at least. Let's drink to the gridiron knowledge and joy to come whatever your background. In the end it doesn't mean as much as we let on.

talent. Despite wins and losses - the B1G developed talent - at least in this studied period.
Note this kind of thinking is, in part, why Ferentz is loved by Iowa fans.

The systematic winning at Navy and Air Force is also a testament to scheme, coaching and teamwork. The Air Force style of play and JV like teams makes for wins. Spring ball will be very interesting.
This was a very interesting read about how Air Force breeds success - basically by over signing in a way only a service academy can.

Bellomy doesn't deserve to be slighted that is all.
|1 week 5 days ago||This^^ All respect to OSU but||
TCU could have beaten them. We will never know.
The logistics of an 8 team playoff are not difficult. Extend the season one game and all the bowls still have the pick of the losers.
|1 week 6 days ago||You are being called stupid for not spelling his name correctly.||
Suck it up sadeto.
If you are using the Nebraska game (which is the bulk of the stats and playing time Bellomy has seen) you are being called "stupid" for slamming a kid who came into a game plan premised on the best running QB in college football history.
Once he came in Nebraska no longer had rushing lanes to protect. They came full bore for Russ. That is not something he was seeing in practice. Denard didn't need hot routes to protect against sacks because his legs kept DLs honest. Bellomy came into a plan denuded of outlet routes. He was setup for failure.
Competition is good. Bellomy will probably not get to the field again. He deserves respect however for what he's done and doing for the team. Anything else is stupid IMO.
|1 week 6 days ago||TCU should have been in ... not disrespect to OSU||
the sooner we get to 8 teams the better. Add one week post the conference championship games in the high seed home stadium and all the teams get in who should.
If OSU demonstrated they were worthy then TCU did as well.
|1 week 6 days ago||Bellomy not Bellamy||
Neg for stupidity not necessarily spelling. Bellomy is a member of the team...WTF. Learn the fan speak... ie "Competition is good!" Slamming kids who are working with the team is neg worthy. Sincerely, Stupid Internet Tough Guy.

If you gotta go, Go Blue.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Agree... I read them to keep myself current and don't regret it||
by the second book I too was taken. GoT was my 2014 summer escape - it kind of set me up for the Blue wedding that was the ND game. I did not see that coming. Then the blood really started to hit the field. Reading them all is not a small commitment in time. Having done it - reading them twice is a real luxury. Perhaps required reading for the modern world (have I lost perspective?... maybe.)

they just can't be coached while doing it outside of the proverbial stretching hour, not to mention concomitant school playing. College athletes sacrifice well beyond the NCAA limits on coaching. In fact many of Michigan's athletes study the human body and how to train it - in their school playing time. (Admittedly that is a small part of what they study.)
It's how you train that matters - most people think - not how much. But somehow no one really knows the way to do that definitively - despite all the kinesiology majors out there.

Go Ducks. It's crazy the amount of Oregon swag on the streets here in Portland. Plus the guy with the fireworks after the FSU game laid out some bucks. Hopefully they will lay out some more Bucks soon.

Both had very different paths with injury to Pipkins and position change for BWC. Pipkins has had the same role throughout. Ultimately he is likely to leave with fans wishing he had another year like BWC however (IMO).
I like these two posts O and D, but I think the player evals are too harsh for athletes who haven't finished their college careers. Some players only get one season in the sun. That season can be worth all the the work.
New eyes on the players will allow the cream to rise to the top. I'm wondering if we are going to see leadership in the winter workouts like we have had recently. I'm curious to see if the team runs together (like Seniors in past classses have organized) and how often the QBs work on routes with the WRs/TEs. I have no inside info - most of that comes with little to no reporting. The S/C hire will take what he gets from the players at this point as the players are back.
