QB recruits are important ... but Mich is stacked enough to see if Malzone's development is critical to the program. If he makes Devin, Shane and Wilton produce...I think he can get the most out of Malzone.
The immediate challenge is not QB. For this staff... the immediate is close to all that matters. Focus on the line and everything else is gold.. uh, I mean, maize.

Losing a parent is a game changer. Hang in there. Be strong for your family and take solace in yourself. You are a living tribute to your Dad.

if you can read through the red to the blue. Link to a recent update - nothing blue there but Malzone got a mention yesterday.
This is really about relationships with the athletes in the end. How this is treated and portrayed vs. the NCAA list of atrocities is sickening.

in fact I bet the majority of them don't own one - though all have access.

I prefer "deluded".
Forcier is a poor example of a real delusion.

WC play is the only play that matters for FIFA. Who cares about 1-2 year bans.
5 years and he will have to explain it to his kids. 2 years and he is right back in the qualifying and WC picture. 5 years is the only intervention that to me makes sense. The guy is sick.

at one point. I'm not sure what his current status is. It would be hard to deny him a credential without creating focus on his work and opinion.

I have spent time on this site when I should have been doing what my wife asked me to do last month.
I have spent time posting on this site that I regret almost immediately upon posting. I feel this way pretty much everytime I post.
I love soccer. I hate soccer. I'm confused most of the time.
When I played my final high school football game - I went back to the lockeroom, sat down and cried like the baby I am - knowing I would never play another down.
I'm defined by my failures and hatreds. I hate myself for that.

It's wasted time evaluating players with respect to their number and not their play. They gave up helmet decal game week awards for this reason.
Honors like this are best left for banquets when a player's career is over when coaches, players and even fans can appreciate a player for what they have accomplished. I'd rather the coaches spend this time coaching instead of fulfilling legacy requirements - to assign jerseys annually, leave that to the equipment manager.
Jersey numbers resonate as in my mind when I see players on the field. I will always associate Leach with 7 and Lytle with 41 (who played as 25 as an under classmen.) If performance is all that matters - let's swap jerseys every game based on who has a better practice week.

Leadership starts with the coaching staff - after that it's hard to pin down. Chemistry... I don't know where that comes from... but you know it when you see it.
Gardner was a huge leader last year. Replay the OSU game. The bowl game was an interesting juxtaposition. This year is going to be special... and we may not win them all.
We need some football...
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Respectfully disagree...||
this drama detracts from the team concept in my mind. Let's send all the legend jersey athletes to SEAL camp and see what kind of respect that garners them. I say hand out the numbers and let the chips fall where they may (including the legends jerseys.) This will create an atmosphere where (with double digit numbers) all jerseys will be legend jerseys sooner rather than later.
The way it's going...the numbers are changing before the players have a chance to leave their own legacy. The possibility of generating additional legacy traditions is diminished by moving high performing or promising athletes to existing legacy jerseys.

but who is checking.
Bill McCartney goes it alone these days — or at least without his wife of 50 years, Lyndi, who died in March. The College Football Hall of Fame coach is learning his way around the kitchen. (RJ Sangosti, The Denver Post)

Illinois football game 1932 - Michigan was undefeated that year...
This was true for most of the golden Kipke years. If the wallet is tight or times are hard - football is not where it's at.
1944 also is an outlier (WWII) as are the recent sold out years despite the fall off in on field performance.

if you are going to talk students then let's talk tuition and elitism. Michigan isn't the school I attended back in the day on campus - I'm not sure I should expect the current student athletic fees/tickets to be any better.
There was a student attendance issue before the DB break it fix it break it again shenanigans.
But... yes... students should be encouraged not discouraged. It's sad. If you go to the Bentley site they discuss how Yost and others wanted everyone to be able to come and attend. They held lotteries for tickets before Michigan stadium was built.

Brandon is doing for the most part what most other D1 ADs are trying to do as well or have already done (except for the sky writing clusterbomb - what is he thinking.) I also think he will eventually get it right with students and pricing. In fact these new deals are looking better and better to me.
DB is not in the get it wrong business... at least not for long.

I'm wondering what is really the measure of the AD here normalizing for the current expectations of a D1 AD. Title IX and gender issues are in a completely different place than the 70's. It's apples to oranges somewhat as you mention. Title IX dictates a leveling of the playing field. That has happened since the early 70's incrementally within the leadership of the athletic department.
Brandon certainly deserves credit for not obstructing non-revenue sports, and for needed and timely renovations as well as executing the office to the tenor the times. The backdrop is a huge increase in revenue sports that dwarfs the non revenue renovation and focus, polarity of opportunity for lower income athletes and tremendous leadership and culture change revolving around gender issues.
I don't deny what you are saying in fact I'm informed by it. I'm not seeing Brandon as the white knight either. He's a good AD in many respects without doubt. Regardless of who is to credit for the non revenue success - the accomplishments of these athletes is to be celebrated and is a tribute to their effort and the university.
