I am lucky enough to have an uncle who was a great lakes freighter captain. That allowed me to go on two "cruises" around the great lakes. My favorite story is from the first one. I was about 12. We had just backed up the Chicago River and were docked for the night waiting to unload. My cousin (he was 11 at the time), my uncle, my mom, and I were walking the deck at night, checking out the Chicago skyline when a small speedboat pulled up beside the freighter. Apparently, large boats can drive people to do some crazy things. On this night, this boat full of young, apparently intoxicated women decided it would be a great idea to flash our freighter. Judging by my uncle's reaction, this occurrence was not uncommon. Well my cousin and I clearly were not prepared for this. My mom thought it was hilarious. The women then noticed us standing there and were extremely embarrassed they had just flashed some children. It is clearly a moment I will never forget.
It terms of Qatar prospects, I'm interested to see if we can have a mostly full squad. Reyna, Pulisic, McKennie and Adams haven't played a single minute together during qualifying (I don't think). Clearly we need someone to score goals, but this team will be dangerous against almost anyone (if inconsistent) as long as they are healthy.
Still need Cavani. Still need Lingard. Still need Fred. Feel bad for Van De Beek. United has a ton of matches to play this season and need the depth. Especially with the Euros this past summer, guys like Pogba and Fernandes played way too many minutes with little rest. Add in Rashford being out until at least October and Martial looking like he wants to be anywhere else and Cavani is going to see the field plenty.
I mean "rock" is somewhat subjective and I think the target there is moving. But, the wife and I love going to concerts (we tried for one a month pre-COVID) and have fallen for some good, young bands that are somewhere in the pop-rock spectrum (my tastes skew a bit lighter these days).
Hippo Campus
Lovelytheband
Christine and the Queens (more of a solo project)
CHVRCHES
Two Door Cinema Club
Bleachers
Judah and the Lion
To go along with mainstays like Vampire Weekend (them performing their new jam type album live is quite entertaining) and Mumford and Sons
Not sure how this hasn't been sad yet but Conboy and Tropp on Kampfer. The origin story of FYS. I was at that game and honestly have never been angrier at individual players.
What was crazy to me was that after the Lavert Hill interception the announcers were talking about how Stanley getting hit effected his ability to throw the ball and not that Hill had run the route for the wide receiver. Because Stanley stepping into that one gets Hill a touch...back?
After watching that video on Tech's defense, I'm preparing to be screaming at my television all night at the terrible charges about to be called. They actively push their feet out in front of them and throw back hard on any contact to the chest. Watch Owens go flying after Z barely touches him and get a call even though he is a foot taller.
I think we fall out of the rankings before we move substantially up. The board will be grumbling about another slow start and then the team will gel and will finish as a much better team than we started. Isn't that what a Beilein team does in any non Trey Burke year? We lost a lot of scoring. We bring in one of the best recruiting classes Beilein has ever had.
Every way too early top 25 or projection for next year that I've seen has MSU as the clear favorite. I don't understand. Is Foster Loyer going to be that good? Xavier Tillman?
Am I taking crazy pills or did everyone just forget about Deshawn Sims? Maybe I romaticize his skill because I went to college the same time he did, but damn, he'd be a solid NBA Jam player. Athletic, dunks, can shoot the three, looked like he could push someone... what more do you need?
Anyone else think that awful opponent PPP on screens is due almost solely to the two Purdue games? I feel like they just bombed threes off screens for 80 minutes against us
How dare you respond to my post with reason and facts! This is the Internet! I still think they don't have the resume of a top 25 team so far (not that they can't or won't get there). KenPom top 100 is an arbitrary cut off. Michigan has beaten 6 KenPom top 100 teams, and no one on here is arguing they should be ranked top 25 so far.
He was clearly onsides. By the guy marking him AND there was another defenseman further back. I think the late penalty was a bad call. Suarez acted like he got shot
While I love to see this win and hope Michigan keeps winning so this is a moot point; but isn't it better to be a 10 seed instead of an 8/9? Seems like an easier path to the second weekend
This could be a valid point if they had banned out of season practices during school breaks. However, they didn't do that. They only banned off campus out of season practices during school breaks. This, to me, is the most hypocritcal aspect of the ban. If they truly had the interests of the "student-athletes" in mind, they could have and should have taken it a step further. Instead, it is a very pointed ruling.
Had this argument this summer. I think that it is Freddie Mercury and everyone else. My friend argued quite hard for Mick Jagger. Bono probably deserves to be in the discussion
If I remember correctly we have a tough time maintaining grass because of the water table. The big house field is dug into the ground and this causes issues. I could be wrong tho
I thought Bradley wasn't playing these two games... When did that change? Also, I like starting Klejstan. Has been in form the past year without getting a run from Klinsmann. Hope he can perform
Michigan was the first team to be ranked in every poll in a decade (1970's).
FSU and Nebraska were ranked in every poll in the 90's.
OSU has been ranked in at least 50% of the polls in every decade since 1936 (talk about sustained success).
There appear to be 8 true Blue Blood programs (which I know has been debated on this board a few times before): Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Alabama, USC, Nebraska, Michigan and Texas with more of a drop off and recency bias starting with Florida State and Florida.
Am I the only one that sees a bit of Connor Cook in him? The way he lays in those loopy throws with a ton of touch, can move in and out of the pocket but isn't the most mobile and still has the arm to make the throws. I guess I didn't watch enough Andrew Luck when he was at Stanford
But isn't the real hope that Cameron carter-vickers turns into a legit, top class center back so we can move Cameron to the outside and Fabian Johnson to midfield/wing? That would put all those players at the position they play with their clubs (in Europe)
I have a similar story about yost. When I was a senior in college there was a bad ice storm that caused bricks from the facade to fall off the yost roof. For a long time there were bricks and more littering the ground and roped off. Well not to be satisfied with bricks, we decided to carry off an archway. Needless to say it was quite heavy. As two of us were walking down the street carrying this to our house we were stopped by the police. They asked us what we were doing and where we got the brick arch. We told them yost. They laughed and told us to have a nice night. Don't think any of us ended up keeping it from our house sadly.

Bring back the half naked man banner! Forget what it was called, but the image is burned in my mind.
I don't understand the Terminator reference. If you replace Arnold with Danny Devito, it is the exact same film.

Is it strange that I still won't spend money on Maker's 13 years after this?

Michael Schofield (starting for the Chargers) said "Fox River State" as well. Apparently that is an homage to Prison Break?

Probably makes sense to leave the NCAA Hockey regionals where they are this year. Obscure locations with few fans is currently a plus.
Mike Smith... more like the HAIR apparent. Amirite?
Well it wouldn't be my fault. I voted for Kodos

I'm having the same issue. Been neglecting the Diaries until now and would like to catch up. Anyway to see more than the last 3 diaries?

Why is Kentucky still ranked? Their best win is Louisville at home and they have 3 losses and a handful of close games to middling teams.

They made it this far because they had an easy group. Like, really easy. But who knows, maybe they've been laying in the weeds in EPL season
