This may be true...

This may be true, but I don't get why not splitting into divisions is bad.

I personally hate divisions, I wished the B1G would get rid of them.

And while I'm at it, I would take them out of the NBA, NHL, & MLB.  I want the best teams to play each other in the playof

I am all about it in theory

I am a big soccer fan and I am not even sure I like the sport.  I just like the fact that there are no commercials and no pregame.  (If the TV programming says the game starts 9, they literally kick the ball off at 9.)  To make up for the lost revenue, they make the advertisers the main focus on their uniforms.  To me, it's a great trade off.

So if the put ads on uniforms and take away some commercials, for example the Commercial Kickoff Commercial sequence that plagues the NFL, I would be all about putting on as much ads on they uniform as tehy could fit.

Unfortunately, I think we will likely head down a path where there are advertisements on the uniforms with no reductions in commercials.

Clarification on 2 things

-  I realize that Brian thinks predicting scores is ridiculous and that his zany numbers are in response to that.  However, I had a hunch that Brian based the margin of score on the spread and went up or down on that as a kind of proxy pick against the spread.  So I was placing some meaning to his numbers in regards to my own purposes.

-  This was meant to be fun.  It is Brian's blog and he can do whatever he wants.  I am not demanding accountability for Brian in regards to his 5-7 record.  I do not want Brian to move to Nashville because of whackos in the Michigan fan community.  That is more of an OSU thing.

Brian's bits

I dislike it when Ace fills in for Brian for one of his regular scheduled columns and does the same exact bits as him.  For example, "fake 40 time" in the recruiting profiles or "Cackle with knowing glee" in the game previews.  Brian has a very special writing style and I feel like only he can enlighten us with humor and insight with these very specific insights.

Ace is a great writer so I wish he would format these type of columns with his own bit, plus it would help with confusion as I often think Brian is writing something Ace wrote.

Couldn't have at least waited till the game Saturday?

If Indiana finishes above us on the "S-Curve" (not sure if that's an actual committee term or just Lunardi's term), then they will get Indy.  I am thinking you could have waited at least till Sunday when you would have more significant information and likely would have got the same seats.

I wore my Mgoblog Photobomb shirt to the Air Force game and did not get one comment from anybody at the game or while tailgating.

Either the MGoBlog community is a smaller portion of the Michigan fanbase than I expected or are just a shy group. or I just look like a tool and nobody wanted to talk to me.

Bubble Screen

I'm a little confused as to why everybody keeps referring to the Gallon TD as a bubble screen, perhaps its because the announcer referred to it as so.

But to me, that was a tunnel screen and borges ran that all the time last year. Gallon came back to the qb and had ol downfield blocking for him, doesn't a bubble screen usually entail a wr going away from the qb with the wrs blocking for him?

Not that it matters, it was an awesome play but I am confused by the terminology.

College Rules won't allow it

Since centers can no longer be 48, I think it's pretty safe to say that a center won't be able to wear it.  Therefore, we should pick somebody that will likely be president which of course means Brendan Gibbons should wear it.

Please don't hate me

But I don't see why everybody is against 7NA.  For years, opponents regularly stated how not loud the Big House was.  I don't really think they can say that anymore after the OSU & UTL games this year.  And the loudest part of those games was after they played 7NA or "Not Afraid".  (Right Eminen song?)  Most of the people on this board complaining were likely yelling their heads off during those songs.  To me, that's the most fun I've had at the Big House.

And while singing "Don't Stop Believing" as we waited on the Fitz Non-TD ruling was pretty lame, it was also alot of fun.

Also, while I know you Detroit fans look at the Blue Jackets as the laughingstock that they are, they already play "For those about to Rock" after goals so might want to take that off your list as to not steal a Columbus tradition.

The guy was obviously biased for the hometown hero, that was definitely a three count after john's second fu. Hopefully Johnny's first order of business tomorrow is to fire the crooked ref.

Looks good

Would definitely want to play, who should we email?

I be interested

Not sure how everything works as I never been in an online league but would definitely want to play.  Is there a link to the website where we could learn more?

2006 Tigers

So according to Brian's thought process, would the 2006 Tigers be your World Series Champions?

We beat the Cards 4 times that year, they beat us 4 times.

We won 95 games in the regular season against a tougher schedule, they won 83.

We went 8-5 in the playoffs, they went 11-5.

They won their division, we didn't.

Close call but I will give it to the Cards

Not sure what my point is but the BCS game was made to put the best 2 teams in the game, they did that.

By the way this post sounded alot better in my head than it came out.

No Divisions

You don't come out and say it but it seems like you are arguing that there should be no divisions within conferences.  I think there are NCAA rules that force conferences to have divisions in order to have a championship game but I don't understand why.

Think about a system in which you play 8 random teams within your conference, then the best two teams play in the championship game.

-  Avoid SEC's problem where best 3 teams are in one division and then LSU has to play  Georgia in what seems like a formality rather than a football game.

-  Also, Georgia didn't play any of the LSU, Bama, Ark trio while Florida played all three I believe.  That's a touch unfair.

This might be our problem in the next couple of years as the East division looks like an OSU-Wisky battle with PSU likely going down the crapper and we have to compete with Nebraska, MSU, & Iowa.

-  Avoid having to play a "rivalry game" so MSU doesn't get the built in advantage of playing Indiana every year while we play OSU, that's a half game right there they get on us every year.

With no divisions, sounds like your formula would come out 7-0.

Another Game Theory Scenario

I know this is complete circumstantial because there no way any coach would tell a player to do this but regarding the Vincent Smith TD in the Notre Game:

Wouldn't the +EV play be to fall down on the one yard line instead of scoring?  Especially with our D the way it is.  If he falls down, then say Denard falls down at the 1 on first down.  I don't remember ND's TO situation but we have at least ran through all of them or burn some clock.  We would then have 2 downs to punch it in from the one and at worst overtime with a FG the size of an extra point.  I just remember at the time wishing that we hadn't score that TD so quickly.

I know, purely a hypothetical since no college or NFL coach would ever risk that, and would likely not want to coach a player to not go 100%.
