I agree 100% with you. I like watching O'Connor's tape far more the Mauk's. O'Connor is fluid in his delivery, can go from under center, keeps his feet moving in the pocket, and is always going forward. Mauk on the other hand runs around in the back field and does that spin move...athletic of course but a Big Ten DE will be waiting right there for him. Mauk has never taken a snap from under center. The competiton that Mauk faces is also not as good as the competition faced by O'Connor. They are both great athletes but I really hope the UM will offer Tyler O'Connor and I would love to see him in Maize and Blue next year.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out most importantly if Borges can tailor the offense to fit Denard's style of play. I hope it isnt the case that Hoke just starts Denard at QB because he is the Big 10 offensive player of the year and was contemplating leaving. I hope that Borges can tailor it to fit Denard because he is so exciting to watch. However, if not I wouldnt mind seeing Denard at a slot position and Devin taking the snaps because I think Devin would be a great west coast QB. We will see what the spring practices bring.
I was really hoping michigan would shy away from Mauk. Dont get me wrong he is a good QB, but he is a hot head and very arrogant. He is a selfish player and the only reason he has such high numbers is because everything in their offense is meant for him. Kenton passes every play...if they dont then its a designed QB draw. They dont use a RB at all. His delivery is a little unorthodox but I guess it gets the job done. Im not sure what to make of this offer. I would much rather have Zeke Pike or Gunner Kiel.
This would be a huge win for UM. Him and Richardson talk about playing together in college along with James Ross. If we secure him this early, I feel it will be much easier to get Richardson and Ross. Ross and Royce would complement each other very well.
