Just not the same kind.

8 weeks 1 day ago I believe

He was being facetious. Or at least hope so

8 weeks 5 days ago Why does it make a difference?

They generate an incredible amount of revenue, they are entitled to more of it than they are getting at the moment. At least the football and basketball players.

There will come a day when college athletes are paid, maybe not by the universities, but at least in endorsements. Which is always the more ridiculous ban, theres no reason someone shouldn't be able to sell their image if they are popular enough.

We Had A Shot At A One Seed. Then The Team Started Playing Shitty Basketball, Got Their Teeth Kicked In By A Big Rival, Lost To Almost Every Team With A Pulse, Including a Lousy PSU Team, And Just Crumbled In The Big Ten Qfs. It's Not A Bad Season, But This Team Has Greatly Underperformed Expectations.

9 weeks 2 days ago this team is the Brock Lesnar of basketball

They Look Awesome When They Are Landing Punches, But Hit Them Once And They Just Kind Of Flop Around On The Ground

11 weeks 20 hours ago Seriously? People give this credence?

The first twitter handle mentioned belongs to a student reporter from Western Kentucky University, who admits he saw the rumor on recruiting message boards. There is zero chance this is true, and it's stunning that anyone would believe something of that magnitude was even a possibility without even looking into the source.

16 weeks 2 days ago gotta love dockett

He could give the most interesting man in the world a run for his money. Last off season he got in trouble with peta for having a pet gator. Not just a gator he had in a cage in his backyard, but a pet gator that he took on car rides.

19 weeks 5 days ago That he did

Had some hiccups on Offense but that's to be expected playing South Carolina with Michigan's offense. If only he could bring this type of creativity to every game, because one or two a year isn't going to cut it.

20 weeks 3 days ago Don't worry

I'm sure Al Borges will have a very unique offensive game plan. See, I got through that without breaking up laughing. Gonna pat myself on the back for a second...

38 weeks 4 days ago Thomas gets a lot of love for the potential he has

He's certainly shown more on film in the passing game than Denard, and though he may not be as athletic, he is better throwing on the run. I really like Thomas this year, if he can put all of the talent together. Vt could be scary, and might challenge for the a spot in the title game

39 weeks 3 days ago earlier this week

I lit a cigarette as my cousin was racking the balls, and sank the 8 before i had finished it. One of the best games I've ever had, then the next say i went out and couldn't make a damn shot.

39 weeks 3 days ago did he roll with them earlier?

I thought dcc lineman generally wrestled in the room, even if they didn't compete.

Also, Coon would destroy Martin ;)

40 weeks 1 day ago cts.....

Drool....continues drooling....

Cadillac is going nuts right now, imo a huge success story for American cars, not just making an affordable luxury sedan to compete with the 5 series, but blowing it off the track with the ctsv for significantly less $$$.

No i didn't get aroused talking about the ctsv, why are you asking?

40 weeks 2 days ago go thunder

That is all

40 weeks 4 days ago and the school makes no extra money from them

I mean, every student at Michigan has made the university the same amount of money as Denard, right?

Why should athletes get special treatment because they make the university millions more in profits than regular students?

40 weeks 6 days ago go listen to the nerdist podcast

The bill nye episode. They discuss this mission a lot and just space in general. The big problem with a manned mission is the length of time you would be exposed to cosmic radiation and zero gravity. Not insurmountable problems, but nothing we really have practical solutions for at the moment. Although he didsay they were going to shoot some water bears up to a moon sometime.

40 weeks 6 days ago he may have been right

But he still shouldn't have said it. Athletes should never question fans in a public forum, and while they certainly have every right to say it, nothing good can possibly come from it.

41 weeks 1 day ago it's basically just a gymnastics apparatus

And at that level, they are insanely good. I knew a guy who was very into it until he hurt his back and couldn't compete, he ended up being Very successful diver.

41 weeks 1 day ago i feel like " Denard goes absolutely bonkers"

Will win at least 2 games Michigan doesn't really deserve this year.

42 weeks 2 days ago be careful with that poison pen

42 weeks 6 days ago Castellanos won't be near ready next year

Especially playing outfield. He's never played it before, and half a year of playing it in the minors does not a major league ready outfielder make.

He's 20, he needs to put some weight on, and he isn't close to being MLB ready defensivly. Still a hell of a prospect, I've seen a few people out there say he could have a Hosmer like impact in 2 or 3 years, but not next. He will get called up in september, get a cup of coffee, be really hyped up in spring next year, but spend most of the year in the minors again.

42 weeks 6 days ago burn it to the ground

About a week ago I was of the mindset that the NCAA should leave this alone, that the people who were the problem were dealt with and there was no need to punish anyone else.

Sadly, seeing some of the comments on psu themed blogs has convinced me this isn't the case. There are still people who defend paterno and are outwardly hostile to the truth, that believe this whole thing is justa conspiracy to bring down st. Jopa. I know it isn'tall of them, but something needs to be done to change the culture. The hero worship and willingness to turn a blinds eye to the facts at hand in order to defend the program are still very much alive at psu, and if the only way to stomp that out is to destroy the program, so be it.

After all that has come out, the continued existence of fans who still support paterno is mystifying, and just reinforces the perception that football to some psu fans is more important than anything else. Those people deserve tobe punished for allowing a culture like that to grow so out of control and even partially survive such a horrifying scandal.

Sorry to all rational psu fans out there, it sucks, and no one is going to be happy about it, but the program needs to be hit hard, as hard as possible, to shake the last little bits of crazy off.

44 weeks 2 days ago castellanos is near untouchable

And only near because you never know what will be available. If Upton is on the block, you would have to at least consider a trade involving him, or any similar player I wouldn't trade him for a pitcher, although grienke would at least be tempting.

Sadly, there isn't much of a market right now for big hitters. Maybe this off season someone will become available, but right now it doesn't seem like castellanos is going anywhere

44 weeks 5 days ago not to disagree with the point

But the cavs #1 they has after Lebron left was actually the clippers that the cavs acquired in the baron Davis trade, iirc.

I point that out not to undermine your post, but to seriously lol at the clippers.

44 weeks 6 days ago that's....a little creepy

He's almost ten years older.

Yes, that is sour grapes

45 weeks 1 day ago this happens a lot

And its not a big deal at all. Someone is going to give him scholarships for his friends, be it Clemson or some other school, and if he plays up to his potential it will have been well worth it.

45 weeks 4 days ago a true story of patriotism

some friends of mine were vacationing in Europe when some German fellows questioned their ability to drink beer due to them being American. One of my friends grabbed one of the Germans glass of beer, chugged it, slammed it on the table, then chanted USA, USA, USA, YOU SUCK!

My friends are now banned from a small bar in Germany.

46 weeks 3 days ago he's basically Deandre Jordan

Only he fouls a lot less. I would take that at number 9

47 weeks 2 days ago o lineman aren't that important in the NFL anymore

Not individually at least. The two best left tackles in the league both play for poor offenses, because they have no skill players.

The NFL is so pass heavy nowadays that its smarter for a team to try and save money up front on offense. Good teams now try to find value there because they can scheme around weakness in the line so well, and coaches are way cheaper than players.

That's not to say you can completely ignore it, just that its not something you should be placing a premium on when teams like the Giants, Patriots, and Packers to name a few, have shown you can have success without particularly good lines.

47 weeks 2 days ago hutch has fallen off a lot

I've heard analysts who know way more than me say that he's barely average now, and he plays a very low value position

48 weeks 6 days ago I've heard most DCC lineman practice with wrestlers

at least if they don't play basketball. So he may have had some everyone before his junior year.

Also, the scary thing is he is maybe the third best HS HWY in Michigan in the last ten or so years. Pommeranke was the best, and Trice was second. Coon has a chance to sneak in there too, although he was 215 for his first 2 years, he's got the best resume of just about anyone. Only one loss as a freshman, in OT, to nationally ranked senior, Mcdirmiad.

50 weeks 5 days ago a misleading title

But most Espn writers do not choose the title of their pieces. Some one who knows a lot less about the subject saw the stat about how many champs came out of the top twenty and put an inaccurate title on the piece because it will get eyeballs.

1 year 32 weeks ago the FO college guy must be happy

His preseason prediction for Michigan was a legends division championship. The numbers really liked Michigan coming into the year, and they were as down on Nebraska as anyone. That plus replacing GERG with OMGRAYLEWISCOACH and the season long tire fire that is OSU's qb situation were good signs

1 year 32 weeks ago the asst. coaching hires have paid off in spades

Bormat and Pritzlaff are not only excellent coaches in their own right, but they bring in guys like Kyle Ruschell and Jake Herbert as sparring partners. That's a huge draw to any recruit, and having so many quality sparring partners makes everyone on the team better.

This team is absolutely stacked once this class arrives. Boyle, Bruno, Grajales, Salazar, middle Zeerip, Massa, Thomas, Huntley, and Apland. That's a team full of studs from top to bottom

1 year 34 weeks ago to be honest

Iowa State wrestling kinda sucks now that Sanderson is at PSU.

1 year 34 weeks ago its not how you build a program though

Besides firing a fairly able coach, it also makes it really tough to find the next guy when you make it clear that you won't be able to explore any career advancement while at that school.

I think the big difference in the coaching profession is that once you're the head coach, there's no room for promotion. If you want to move up, you have to change schools/teams. If a school isn't going to pay big money, and also will fire a coach at the first sign of interest in another position, its basically a dead end job, and no coach serious about his career would waste his time there.

1 year 35 weeks ago it might be possible with suh

Id imagine most teams in the nfl will build the front of their offensive gameplan around Suh. Most teams will tend to shift pass protection to the left, because that's usually where the qbs blindside and the defenses best pash rusher end up. They can't do that with Suh, because the center absolutely has to help the right guard. There are some very good guards, Joseph is probably one, who can block Suh 1 on 1 for a few plays, but its impossible to do on a consistent basis.

That means 1 on 1 matchups for Avril against a tackle and the other Dt, who will soon be Nick Fairley (maniacal laughter goes here). That also means no second level blocking, so Tulloch, Levy, and Durant can read without having to worry about shedding pesky blockers most of the time.

Really, Suh is the keystone of the defense, his unique abilities at his position improve every player around him. He's a big part of why the Tampa offense, which has some decent talent, only scored 1 touchdown and a couple field goals.

TL:DR I say a bunch of stuff many of you already know because god damn am I excited about this Lions team

1 year 35 weeks ago the best place

Is intermatwrestle.com

they've got high school and college weight class rankings and college team rankings available for free, although anything more in depth then that is behind a paywall. theopenmat.com is a decent source, much more information available without paying, but also a little less reliable and slower to update.

Probably should mention michigangrappler.com as well, not much in the way of national coverage but they do a nice job covering commitments for in state schools and prospects. That's the place to go if you wanna see where everyone stacks up in state, even if it is run by a spartan...

1 year 39 weeks ago It could all be made up

And I could in the middle of sleeping with Kate Upton as I type this, but neither is really remotely possible. Sadly, they are both just wishful thinking.

1 year 41 weeks ago i would thing

That a commitment to any high profile program would cause a rankings jump this early in the process. The services have to sift through tons and tons of tape, and a nonranked prospect who commits to a big name school would cause his tape to get reviewed faster and maybe with a bit more scrutiny than an uncommitted prospect who hadn't really been on the radar.

Keep in mind I have zero idea how they actually go through and evaluate recruits, so that could be completely off base. Just throwing ideas out into the void.

I doubt he has options left, and there's no way he would clear waivers. He might not be an ace but he would certainly have value to a team. Hell, the Red Sox trot out John Lackey once every five days, they'd probably love to replace him with someone like Penny, who at least gives his team a shot to win most of the games he starts.

1 year 41 weeks ago yes

Although I don't think you'll have to wait long. Turner obviously has Major League top of the rotation stuff, and they have started skipping his starts down at Toledo. He'll be with the big league club again this year, just a matter of keeping his innings under control.

1 year 41 weeks ago f-n goodrich

No idea how they consistently produce the talent they do. In addition to kids from Goodrich, they also had MSU commit Joe Boisture for 2 seasons, and 2 seasons of the slightly less talented Metcalf brother, Chase.

They even won 2 state titles in wrestling back to back recently, but there was some...shady dealing there...

1 year 41 weeks ago Holy Guarunteed Money Batman!

That's a gigantic amount of a contract to guaruntee. Nnamdi's contract with the eagles has 4 million less in guarunteed money, and its worth 60 million over 5 years.

Good for Harris, but I'm a little surprised someone who wasn't ultra elite would get that kind commitment from any team. They must have a lot of faith in his ability to continue to perform at a high level.

1 year 41 weeks ago the dream dies

Cincy could have started 2 michigan cornerbacks. I guess they decided they needed an upgrade from morgan trent.

1 year 41 weeks ago still a good deal of talent out there

Could resign houston still, which would be ok. Carlos Rogers is a possibility, he might have stone hands but he's still a good cover guy, and Nate Clements is another name out there. Waaaaay overpaid last contract and not the same player he once was, but he's still a starting level CB.

And though it doesn't directly affect the lions, Asante Samuel might get traded, as he doesn't necessarily fit into the scheme. Lions won't trade for him, but that's one more spot somewhere in the league that the players we are looking at won't get, and that drives the price down.

1 year 41 weeks ago cleveland is desperate

Why else do you give up the farm for a guy who, albeit very talented, has some serious medical question marks this year which you can't check out until after the trade? He's not even a soon to be FA, so there's no draft picks coming back for arbitration.

If it all works out, its a great deal. A healthy Ubaldo Jiminez is essentially the best case scenario a guy like Pomeranz could develop into, and he's locked down with a team friendly contract. Problem is things don't always work out, and there's a giant risk to trading for a starter with dropping velociy and no medicals.

The good news for cleveland is that its unlikely the trade will really be a franchise killer type move. Even if he has TJ or misses extended periods, he won't hamstring the budget, and they didn't give up any real immediate impact guys like Chisenhall or Kipnis.

1 year 42 weeks ago ruud will get overpaid

He's got a lot of name recognition because of the big tackle numbers, but he isn't more than an average to just barely above average linebacker. I don't doubt he could succeed in Detroit, as he's a heady player and wouldn't have to fight off many blocks, but someone is going to pay him more than he's worth, and it won't be the lions.

Barnett could be interesting though. Have to look into him more to see if he's the kind of 3-4 guy who can transition easily to to a 4-3 look. He would probably be cheap, coming off injury. The good thing is we can trust that the current management of the team will make the right decision on these guys, which is more than you've been able to say about the leos for years.

1 year 42 weeks ago rookies cant practice until august 4

I believe. I know they can sign deals, but nothing will become official until the start of the league year, which is august 4 IIRC. Any player who signs a contract between now and then will have to wait until then in order to practice with their new teams.

1 year 42 weeks ago Cobrani Mixon to the Lions

Thougt the name sounded familiar, then remembered he was a former Michigan player who transfered to Kent St.

1 year 42 weeks ago last year

I was "A Team Named Suh" and was succesful enough to warrent bringing it back for "A Team Named Suh 2: Electric Bugaloo"

Sadly yahoo says that name is too long, so in keeping with the theme, I'm thinking Fairly Legal. Really hoping my grandparents, who are in the league, don't get that reference.

1 year 42 weeks ago Little note to add

Tigers call up last years 2nd pick in the supplemental round, Chance Ruffin. Ruffin was a college releiver at Texas last year, and moved up fast after mowing down AA batters to the tune of 43 ks and a 1.15 whip in 34 IP. Only 9 IP at toledo, 12 ks and a 1.44 WHIP.

A bit surprising he's up this quickly, but college releivers are notoriously fast movers. IIRC he's got a decent fastball and a plus slider.

1 year 43 weeks ago inge started hitting?

When was that?

He's had a total of 2 seasons above 2.5 WAR, which is a substandard mark for a third baseman during that time frame. In 9 years he has been better than a below average hitter twice, the same number of times he's had a negative WAR.

His line is actually impressivly bad this year, he's a full win under what a replacement player would provide already, and that's including a DL stint. There is actually only one player in the majors who has played 3b and hurt his team more in the process. The one, the only, Chone Figgins. Current holder of the Barry Zito memorial "we are paying this guy too much to cut him" roster spot.

1 year 43 weeks ago overheard in the meetings

"Hey, is al dead?"
"Just say he abstained, noone will know the difference"

1 year 43 weeks ago this year?

Inge has made par maybe two years his entire career.

A league average 3b is going to provide about 3 WAR. Inge has surpassed that mark twice, and has been below 2 five times. He used to be a good defender, but he's been subpar this year, and he's kind of a whiny self entitled jerk.

Its good that he's gonna take the assignment to toledo though, him and Cale Iorg can have Strikeout Derby.

1 year 43 weeks ago im not sure

That is a bit much, especially considering how good a hitter Montero is and the ridiculous upside Banuelos has. Guys who were much safer have gone for less. Montero won't get traded this year unless someone really surprising hits the market. Ubaldo might be worth Banuelos, Betances, and a few mid level prospect.

1 year 44 weeks ago i think its schollie limits

Michigan didn't have very many schollies open, and with such a monster class this year they needed the room.

1 year 46 weeks ago that 60 number is probably off

Not sure how they would get it, but its probably closer to 100, maybe higher. Mike Milano also wasn't an elite prospect. He was a good wrestler from Ohio, but I doubt he would have been a top 60 ranked recruit.

1 year 46 weeks ago the new melts are delicious

Picked some up the other day, somehow they are even better than the originals

1 year 46 weeks ago but wait, theres more!

Here's an interview from one of the best college wrestlers in recent history, Jake Herbert.

http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/238800-World-Team-Trials-2011/video...

The informative portion is later, when he says he will likely be training at Michigan through the Olympics with Pritzlaff and Bormet, along with Howe and Poeta, both excellent wrestlers. Not only does that speak to their coaching ability, that the man trying to knock off Sanderson feels his best shot is with them, but it also means the current Michigan wrestlers get to scrap with one of the most dominant wrestlers in the last decade.

1 year 47 weeks ago wouldnt mind the lithuanian big

Valenciunus? Something like that. I know he might miss next year, but so might the entire NBA. He's a legit center prospect who loves getting down and dirty in the post, and would compliment Monroe nicely on offense and defense. Biyombo would be an interesting pick as well, another nice compliment for Monroe, although not quite as nice of a fit.

Just don't pick Kemba or trade the pick in order to dump salary.

1 year 47 weeks ago they have potential

They have a player who will contend for the cy young, and one who will be in the mvp discussion. That already puts them ahead of the curve, as its just building around a centerpiece on offense and pitching, something maybe the top third of MLB teams have.

To get more in depth, they are getting above average production out of catcher, first, shortstop, and DH. Avila and Peralta are probably the only question marks to continue there, but even with some serious regression, both will still probably have above average value at positions that just don't have a lot of offensive productions around the majors this year. Add in Boesch and Jackson, both of which are easily playoff caliber starting outfielders, and that's 6 of 9 everyday players that could start on a playoff team.

That leaves 2nd, 3rd, and Left field as potential areas of offensive improvement at the trade deadline. The big names being discussed are the trio of mets, Reyes, Wright, and Beltran, all of which would fit nicely (reyes would slide peralta to third, where his range wouldn't hurt as bad, making up for a downgrade in arm strength). I'm not sure they get any of them, but the Tigers have some serious chips in the farm system if they are ok with making a serious run this year. Id be surprised if they didn't make at least one big move to adress a need on offense, which would hopefully give them 7 of 9 everyday players who could be starters on a playoff team, perhaps 8 if Maggs can provide anything late and Boesch moves to left.

The starting pitching is much harder to figure out. Verlander is the one constant, and every game feels like it could be a no hitter, so that helps. Scherzer has ridiculous stuff but is wildly inconsistent, Porcello will be good someday but is still very, very young, and Penny and Coke are what they should be, 4th and 5th starters. There won't be outside help coming here, Scherzer and Porcello are too big a part of the orginization, and they need to be the ones to come up big the rest of the way.

In sumnation, we will know a lot more after july 31st, and hopefully Scherzer and Porcello can find the fastball command they've been lacking

1 year 47 weeks ago congratulations!

May your honeymoon be during a dull and quiet college sports news period.

1 year 48 weeks ago yes

Normally RT get drafted lower because the LT in college are just the better lineman. Smith is an odd case, because even though he is an exceptionally talented tackle, he wasn't the best one on his team. He would have started at LT for almost any other team in the country.

1 year 48 weeks ago doesnt matter

This question gets asked a lot whenever anyone talks about lefties, and in the end it doesn't make much of a difference. Teams put their best pass rusher on the right side, or left if you are on offense, and are hesitant to flip them around on the odd occaision that they play a lefty QB, so it makes sense to keep the line as is to match up better man on man.

1 year 48 weeks ago hes been awful

Winning the title doesn't make darko a good pick, they are totally independent events. You don't get a higher grade in math class because you aced your chemistry final, even if you used a little math in chemistry.

He drafted one of the biggest busts of all time, passing on 2 superstar players for a total stiff. Maxiel is an ok pick, but certainly nothing extraordinary, and Amir Johnson gave the pistons almost zero actual value. Stuckey was a good pick, but Joe's continued insistince that he is a PG has hampered the teams rebuilding process almost as much as the sale of the team has, and he traded Afflalo for exactly zero cents on the dollar, so he could clear cap space he used to sign...charlie villunueva? Then he picks Walter freakin Sharpe?!

Joes drafting has, at best, had a slightly negative impact on the team, and at worst has been the cornerstone of the house of suck the pistons have turned into. He has to get another year because the turmoil surrounding the sale of the team robbed him of any real chance to rebuild through shrewd trades and signings, but I'm not sure if he has it anymore. Tom Gores should have Kevin Pritchards number on speed dial, just in case.

1 year 48 weeks ago just popped open phil steele

1 year 49 weeks ago i think

You just wanted to say booty.

1 year 49 weeks ago at least sampson would be open with the players

He's constantly texting them

1 year 50 weeks ago im not sure id even take him in the third

His value is at Qb, because he's got that scrambler athleticism to create something out of nothing. That means 2 or 3 years of honing his delivery and teaching him to read defenses, all the while carrying one of the most controversial players in recent college football history on your roster, and there seems to be little chance the coaching would stick.

Even if you put him at Wr, he's not a great fit anywhere. As athletic as he is, he's not a burner, and he's not particularly elusive in the open field. Plus he has zero experience running routes, which is already one of the biggest adjustments coming into the NFL, even for full time college WR. Maybe he could have some value as a big target near the goalline, but any non top 2 WR in the NFL should have special teams value, something he probably feels he is above. He's barely worth the roster spot right now, let alone the draft pick.

Hopefully he can follow in Jared Lorenzen's footsteps and become GM/Qb of the soon to be formed Columbus Tribal Arm Bands of the AFL.

1 year 50 weeks ago on the solid verbal

Dorhman said that there were things he learned that he couldn't put in his article, either because SI wasn't sure enough to print them or his sources feared for their safety, not so much from the fandom but from the probably more dangerous and just slightly more vindictive criminal element involved in the story. More will come out as the NCAA investigates, and possibly even some in criminal investigations of the drug dealing portion of the case.

I'm going to need some more popcorn.

1 year 51 weeks ago catfish are delicious

And its easier for most people to catch them noodling than with a rod and reel. Its not like the catfish present a real danger, there aren't really any north american species that have much in the way of teeth, and even a 50 lb catfish, not the strongest swimmers, would have trouble dragging a full grown person or doing serious damage.

2 years 21 hours ago FFTL drummer is properly insane

2 years 1 week ago He doesnt have a problem

Ive heard some scouts on the radio say that hes the second best LT in the league. If the entire NFL had a fantasy draft of all players on every team, Im not sure he falls much past 10. Rick Reilly is just a moron.

2 years 1 week ago coke should get one more start

Toronto is hammering lefties this year, so it would be nice to see him get one more chance. If he is still ineffective in that role though, sending him to the pen and calling oliver up would make some sense. Oliver is reaching the point where AAA hitters aren't helping his development, and every pitch he throws is just one more bullet out of the chamber.

If its just Perry getting sent down, with no other moves, weindhardt should be the call. He's already a releiver and he's had some stretches of success in the majors. Short stretches, but still, more than most of the farm hands. Lester Oliveros is a tempting name too, but he needs to show he can carry his success in aa up to aaa before that's a realistic option.

2 years 2 weeks ago sure seems that way

The only important brandon wood is the baseball one, and even then its only because he's possibly the worst player to see even semi regular playing time ever.

2 years 2 weeks ago I mix those 2 up

Worth and rhymes. They are both just black holes of average with decent speed and D. Hopefully they can put guillen somewhere far away from the team, if sizemore is up he needs to start almost every day. He's too good to lose potential AB at a crucial period in his development as a major league hitter.

I assume dirks is just playing the hot hand and trying to get jackson some pressure free time to work out the kinks in his swing. Also think Dirks is who replaced zumaya on the 40 man roster

2 years 2 weeks ago looks like they are shaking things up

Sizemore getting the call up today, not sure who goes down. Dirks also probably getting called up. Id say Jackson goes down and maybe worth.

2 years 2 weeks ago like mayhew said

The draft is not the finish line to the offseason. I expect them to address the back 7 needs in free agency with some mid level signings, tulloch is almost a lock to sign with detroit, and they will certainly be in the running for a schwartz defense type cb. I can't think of any names off the top of my head, but cover 2 corners don't typically demand huge contracts, and it would make sense to sign with a team who has such an incredibly talented front line. They were going to address the other safety spot in free agency even before the draft, the safety crop this year for free agents is much better than this years draft class.

2 years 3 weeks ago ron washington possibly blew 2 games like this

Against the tigers earlier this year, Feliz was on the bench in critical situations in the bottom of the 9th, and each time the tigers got a walk off win. I understand not wanting to bring in a closer too early, but in the 9th, with a tie game, you've gotta make sure you get another inning at the plate.

2 years 4 weeks ago strange wilderness is awesome

I'm also a fan of a few of the kevin smith films, especially mallrats and the clerks series. Observe and Report was also pretty good, but it was incredibly dark.

In more obviouse choices, most of the apatow stuff is ok, although anchorman and walk hard stand out to me. If that isn't enough, you could always watch the first half or funny people.

2 years 4 weeks ago dont forget

Ken Stabler, Boomer Esiason, and Scott Mitchell.

I'm not sure Lorenzon was actually left handed though, he might have just thrown lefty because his right hand was constantly covered by chicken grease and cheetoh dust.

2 years 4 weeks ago Rodriguez had zero support the moment he arrived

Alumni and former players were just waiting to jump on any mistake he made. Maybe that pressure got to him and caused him to crack, maybe it didn't, doesn't matter now. What is sickening though, is the venom he received for having the audacity to take a job he was offered and at the time was very well qualified for.

I think a lot of us have a hard time totally getting past this because it doesn't make sense. Rich Rodriguez was a good coach everywhere else, why wasn't he good here? There were so many moments when it seemed like they had gotten over the hill, like it all clicked, and all that suffering was finally worth it. Then Chris Relf was in the endzone, again, wiping remnants of Obi Ezeh off his cleats. Then it was over, and the only things we learned were that Braylon talks to much and nothing in football ever makes sense.

2 years 6 weeks ago not one, but 2 michigan recruits

Basil Smotherman is a 2013 target for the basketball team out of Indiana. I know he's well thought of, but past that I have no information on him. I like to think that he's a shut down defender with a name like smotherman.

2 years 9 weeks ago finally got to see reader vs zeerip

Both were 4 timers in michigan, graduated a year apart, zeerip undefeated and reader with 2 or 3 losses, yet they have never wrestled until today. Went about how most thought it would have too.

Grajales has to have a 4 leaf clover in his shoe. Was down and hit a leg cradle to pin his opponent. I've watched wrestling for 7 years, and that was the 2nd leg cradle I've ever seen, and the first by anyone out of elementary school. Then his next opponent, who is the only wrestler to ever beat metcalf in college, injury defaults. Grajales is in the quarterfinals against a beatable 8 seed tomorrow, but his luck probably runs out there. Kyle Dake is his matchup in the sems, the defending national champ who is the 4 seed due to injury and what appears to be some weight problems. From what I remember, Dake is an incredibly strong kid, with a little bit of that funky Ben Askren type defense, something that really hurts the kind of things Grajales uses. Then again, so was Caldwell, and it was tied when Caldwell defaulted.

Biondo, apland, stevens, and I think boyle are still in it to become all americans, they each need 3 more consecutive wins to make it. Russel and Grajales are the only wrestlers in the quarterfinals, meaning they need one more win to guaruntee an all american spot, although they can lose once.

2 years 9 weeks ago best way ive seen

There is a formula where you use offensive and defensive metrics to determine a predicted record for a team. Compare that to said teams actual record to see how lucky they are.

2 years 12 weeks ago i was wondering the same thing

Its a fairly widely held belief that the big ten is one of, if not the toughest conference in college ball, and that the SEC is basically garbage. It just seems insane that they would get more teams than both the ACC and Big 10.

still doesn't change the season outlook though, just win baby.

2 years 13 weeks ago this will be a bloodbath

Maybe a shutout. Just going on what I remember from watching them in high school, ryzgallah and ostermaan are good, but certainly beatable. Ryzgallah never beat doughboy, and apland has, and ostermaan isn't really a whole lot better than corby, who grajales teched. Can't disagree with them losing though, grajales has been inconsistent and hwy is a toss up in most meets.

Hinton is a little of the same, fairly inconsistent wrestler. When he's on, he's probably their best wrestler, but he will lose some head scratchers.

Also, I'm willing to bet some St. Johns kids will be taking in the match today, to distract them from cutting weight for tomorrows regional tournament. Would be nice to show Massa and Wohlfort and company that Michigan is a serious contender in the near future.

2 years 13 weeks ago kuhars brother

Wrestles at northwestern. He was the top rated hwy in the country a few years back, I think I saw him wrestle at davison a few years back.

On a side note...kuhar is a much better wrestler than martin. Probably not as good a football player, but martin was really raw when I saw him in high school. He was too physically imposing for anyone to handle though, and managed to avoid any big time studs when he wrestled, but he was never really a wrestling prospect, whereas kuhar could go just about anywhere he wanted on a wrestling schollie. Michigan wins the hwy high school battle this year though, Pommeranke from rogers city is unstoppable.

2 years 14 weeks ago i always envisioned him as rondo lite

Similar sort of body type, big, rangy guard. Not a great shooter, but able to drive and score when they need to, and very, very good at distributing to teammates.

Obviously he would have a ton of work to do if he was going to be as good as rondo, and I don't know if he ever can be. Its not like rondo was a no brainer coming out of college though, and he took a long time to develop into a real force in the league.

2 years 14 weeks ago probably not personelle related

No movement until new cba.

2 years 14 weeks ago he was 1b his senior year

As a recruit, just a little behind david taylor. They almost wrestled at dapper dan but something came up, can't remember exactly what. The #3 recruit that year was dake from cornell, who won the national title as a freshman.

2 years 14 weeks ago 2 very big meets

They should beat minnesota, and off the top of my head they have a chance against iowa. If they win both, it should be a 3 way tie for the dual meet championship. Iowa would be a huge win, I don't think they have lost in 3 or 4 years...

2 years 14 weeks ago for michigan yes

And for most teams. Iowa beat psu already, but psu matches up better with michigan and most top teams than iowa. Cornell should win the national title this year though, they have more potential champs than anyone, and are built to dominate a tournament set up like NCAAs.

2 years 14 weeks ago i think they are saving scholliest

Thomas is 3rd in the state, but like 18th nationally. It is a ridiculously loaded class. Hopefully a certain middleweight from around east lansing decides to go south a little. But not too much.

2 years 15 weeks ago psu is so....so good

That class from 2 years ago was just insanely good. I believe ruth was actually hunter collins drill partner in high school.

2 years 15 weeks ago recruiting the midwest

Yes, that works out so wonderfully for the big ten, who consistently destroys the "glamour" states down south in bowl games.

2 years 15 weeks ago good pickup

2 years 15 weeks ago battle creek is the most exciting place in the state

Been there 4 times and come away succesful 2 of them. Noone can tell me that its not the loudest finals in the state. Where else can you watch all 4 divisions go at it simultaneously?

Plus, you get to see a lot of big time recruits before they head to college. I don't think michigan has any commitments from this class yet, but they did land one of the big fish from 2012, Jordan Thomas. 2012 is a MONSTER class in michigan, the number one recruit in the country, Taylor Massa, is from st. Johns, Freddie Rodriguez from holt looks to be top ten, and Thomas is top 20. Rogriguez is already committed to MSU, and I have zero real knowledge of Massas college preference, but do know that he goes to high school like 20 minutes away from east lansing...

2 years 15 weeks ago OSU wrestling has taken some serious hits

I think it was angry ohio state lower weight hating god. First nikko triggas, an AA 125 and I think the record holder for career pins at osu, gets hurt. Then his backup, STUD freshman Logan Steiber, also gets hurt. Steiber probably would have seriously challenged for an AA spot this year. Then another stud recruit, collin palmer gets busted up. Add that to graduating jaggers and pucillo and I believe older palmer, its not a very good team.

Michigan has looked excellent this year though, the young kids are wrestling really well. Grajales is an absolute monster, the fact that he's up 2 weights and still competing with and even beating top ten kids speaks volumes about exactly how good he is. His HS class of recruits was incredible, 2 of them have legit shots at 4 peats, kyle dake and david taylor, and grajales andthe aforementioned palmer were just as good in high school.

On a final note, I would like to share a tweet from one of the greatest wrestlers in michigan high school history. After iowa upset number one PSU, coached by former iowa state cyclone cael sanderson, brett metcalf tweeted "wonder where cael will go now to try and beat us"

2 years 16 weeks ago they are going to kill osu friday

Love the man. He seems like a genuinely awesome person, with a great personality. its almost sad to me that I think he's in over his head. Being a good, honest person should be worth something, and I can almost convince myself of that before remembering that, in the last 2 years, cam newton and nick saban have each hoisted the crystal trophy.

I hope he wins, I really do, despite how much I don't like the hire. I really want brady hoke to be the photon torpedo that blows up the SEC's death star, but it just doesn't seem likely. Hopefully he got in a lot of target practice on womp rats in his T-16.

2 years 32 weeks ago on making them run for one kids mistake

That's something that honestly helps. Not only does it give extra incentive to try in practice, it does so by making each player accountable to the team as a whole. The same way a player blowing an assignment in game harms the entire team, a blown assignment in practice does the same. Don't do it for mental mistakes at that level, they are just learning the game, but going half speed, at any level, is unnaceptable. Not only is it lazy, a kid meeting a blocker or tackler and not fully involved in the action can injure himself or another player.

Hes been weak thus far as a left tackle in the few games he replaced gaither in. Pettigrew can help at least as much providing chip blocking and a safety valve, as opposed to a guy who is a good run blocker and only an ok pass blocker.

2 years 35 weeks ago also wouldnt have been a problem

If some ref didn't need to feel like a big man and enforce a stupid technicality to nullify what everyone knows was a catch. I understand why they need that rule, but it wasn't put in to be enforced in that situation, and officials need to understand that and adjust accordingly.

2 years 36 weeks ago its just angry denver bronco hating god

In addition to the rb injuries, they lost dumervil, their best defensive player, for the year, and Ryan Clady is uncertain as he suffered a knee injury in the offseason playing basketball. Not to mention they managed to turn jay cutler and tony scheffler into robert ayers, dan gronkowski, and a fifth round pick. Impressive, I know.

2 years 37 weeks ago on a teen wolf related tangent

Every time I start a lions dynasty in madden 11, the first years free agency crop always has me ending up with Stylez White, a DE who currently plays for Tampa. Even if I sim the free agency signings he always ends up a Lion. The digital Schwartz must be in love with him. In case anyone is wondering, Stylez White is a real player, he changed his name about a year ago, and is probably a fan of teen wolf.

2 years 38 weeks ago This speech has special significance to me

As I was watching the Wisconsin game in RichRod's first year, and pulled up this video on youtube to try and forget what was happening. About a minute later, John Thompson rumbled into the endzone, and I listened to this on repeat until the end of the game.

2 years 38 weeks ago None off hand

I would love to see Ty Todd try it, but I believe he's entering the Olympic programs. MSU has actually had some decent success here, Rashad Evans being the most prominent right now, although Gray Maynard, his former teammate, is going to challenge for that particular title.

I really can't think of any that have though, just thinking of recently, Tannenbaum is in med school, Todd is still wrestling, don't know where Wagner is but he's not in MMA (Despite beating Cain Velasquez two years in a row at NCAA's), and Steve Luke is coaching. I know it's somewhere to the south, but I have voluntarily destroyed the part of my brain that recalls exactly where Michigan's last wrestling champion choose to coach, sort of like PTSD related to the colors scarlet and gray.

It's a little strange, as one would think Michigan would have at least one or two big name guys. Warren in Bellator is a nice start, and it looks like he's got a title shot upcoming, which is nothing to scoff at, but it's still AAA to UFC's major league's. It's surprising to me to see the success that NCAA wrestlers have in MMA yet none of Michigan's former wrestlers are really competing in it at the highest level. I mean MSU has Evans and Maynard, Minnesota has Lesnar, Okie St. has Couture, Hendrix, and Coleman, Penn State has Davis, even Non D-1 colleges have produced huge stars in Liddell and Jon Jones.

He's been a key part of 2 pretty good defenses. Harris might be better, but don't downplay Scott's role in that defense. Rex Ryan might be a little crazy and annoying at times, but he's forgotten more knowledge about defense than 99.9% of people will accrue in their lifetime, so if he says someone is awesome, I'll take his word for it.

Although we couldn't see his name as it was obscured by his dreads. The Lions have a lot of dreads this year, including the incredibly rare albino dreads of Tim Toone.

That's all the extra analysis I've got, as the OP had the same vantage point as I did from the seat next to me.

2 years 41 weeks ago Wasn't actually at any of them

Sadly enough, but I do have a semi-interesting story from the MSU 07 game. A friend of mine was in Las Vegas for a wrestling tournament, and asked me to update him on the game. After a long series of inventing new superstitions, changing pants 3 or 4 times, and literally throwing a lazy boy, albeit not that far, Henne managed to lead us down the field for the win. My friend got a voice-mail that night that was mainly unintelligible sobs, the only words that he could make out being "I want Chad Henne to have my kids"

2 years 43 weeks ago Agreed

They are a good team, but not a playoff team yet. They get a lot of money off the books next year though, they have some very solid pieces as a foundation to build a true contender with. DD has handed out some stupid contracts in his tenure in Detroit, but he has drafted incredibly well and by and large has brought more talent in than he has let loose.

2 years 43 weeks ago No

It was 2 weak grounders that trickled inches from Guillens glove and one incredibly unlucky hop over Santiago at short.

2 years 44 weeks ago I guess...

Still, thats like choosing between hitting your left or right testicle with a hammer. Neither option is really all that pleasant.

2 years 44 weeks ago Weaver and CC are both on the team

Neither could pitch though, because they pitched Sunday. CC's replacement pitcher was Weaver, who was then replaced by another pitcher, I think it was Verlander. There is a rule that if they pitch close enough to the all star game, pitchers cannot throw in the actual game, so the managers get to pick a replacement.

Which brings up another question, why pick Weaver to replace CC anyway? They knew Weaver couldn't pitch, yet picked him, so he wasn't picked in the first selection process, but also was of no actual use to the team. Just seemed dumb, even thought Weaver should have been on the team in the first place, being arguably the best pitcher in the AL this year. Lee is probably better,  but Weaver has more innings and a ridiculous K rate.

2 years 44 weeks ago In the secondary Media

Mainly the radio stuff and some of the podcasts, a lot of the members of ESPN acknowledge that the network gets ridiculous at times. I actually enjoy the podcasts more so than the TV broadcasts, It's a looser format with, IMHO, better personalities, and I can listen while doing something else. Personal favorites are Fantasy Focus and Baseball Today.

2 years 44 weeks ago I'm ready to be hated for this

But sadly, he is nowhere near past the threshold for the Shelton Phenomenon.

Link to science.

That is a shortened version of another article, which appears to be a dead link now, about when different statistics in baseball will stabilize. Stabilize meaning some math that is briefly explained in the link, and in layman's terms means that one can expect the player to continue putting up those statistics in any kind of consistent manner.

Boesch currently sits at 255 PA. According to linked article, that means the statistics that are likely to have stabilized are Swing %, Contact Rate, Strikeout Rate, Line Drive Rate, Pitches / PA, BB Rate, GB Rate, GB/FB, and Flyball rate.

He isn't doing amazing in any of those statistics, he's not doing awful, in fact he's doing better than most would have thought in K rate. He's got 45 more PA until his HR/FB rate becomes reliable, and 245 until the big slash stats, OBP and SLG, become reliable. Now, he's not going to fall off the face of the earth like Shelton did, he makes more contact and is just a more naturally gifted athlete, but I wouldn't expect him to keep up this pace. Thats not to say he won't be useful, I think it's certainly within the realm of plausibility that he becomes a 270 hitter with 25 homer power, and anyone will take that out of a lefty who plays an above average corner outfield spot.

2 years 45 weeks ago The Cavs are in great shape

2 years 45 weeks ago Galaragga optioned to Toledo

Not in response to performance though, because of the All Star break the Tigers can move pitchers around and won't need a fifth starter until the 20th. Taking his roster spot is Robbie Wiendhardt, very talented righty, drafted in 2008. He's got some shiny AAA stats, with a 1.98 ERA, 0.95 WHIP in 27.1 IP. 18 K's to 4 walks makes him look a little like a control specialist, it's not a good strikeout total, but he still has a good ratio due to good control.

Nearly 7 Million a year for 5 years. That's just brutal. Even Darko is better than Amir at this point. Both are talented big's who just can't get it together, only Darko is bigger and more skilled, and doesn't rack up fouls quite as bad.

2 years 46 weeks ago We could use them now

Any of those picks would have increased the ceiling for those teams, and the pistons wouldn't be in the position they are now if they had a single one of Wade, Bosh, or Anthony.

2 years 46 weeks ago god yes

Been waiting for this ever since it was mentioned. Later on it needs to be compounded into one document, complete with footnoted links to Wolverinehistorian videos and mgoblog posts relevant to the chapter.

2 years 46 weeks ago DD is an amazing drafter

like, ridiculously good. Every first round pick since Verlander has helped this team out a lot, other than perry and turner, turner is 19 and noone can call perry a bust. Even Miller and Maybin helped, getting Miggy. He's extended a few bad contracts, noteably Robertson and Willis, maybe guillen due to his injury risk. I stand by the bondo contract, and the maggs, even with the stupid vesting options.

He's made 1 bad trade, for renteria, and there's a small chance he made another in washburn, but only if robles can become a lot more than scouts think he will. You can't point to anything DD has done that has been a franchise changing mistake, and they have been near the top of the division longer than we've been near the bottom.

Joe, on the other hand, drafted darko instead of Anthony, bosh, and wade. That is devastating. He has been an awful drafter outside of that too, taking huge flyers when he could actually get useful role players. Then we go into this draft with 2 players possibly available for the pistons, Cousins or Jefferson, both would need a trade, and Joe couldn't get it done. Instead he picked a center who doesn't play defense, dissapears for long stretches on offense, and is unathletic. Sure, he can pass, but he's not a point guard, he's a big. He has to be tough and tenacious, words that have never been associated with Greg Monroe. Then he takes a COMBO GUARD in the second! we apparantly needed another, instead of a big, which this draft was loaded with. I'm sure he's Looooong and strooooong just like Walter freaking Sharpe.

To answer the threads question though, they need to tank. Tank hard, get a big man, or a true point.

2 years 46 weeks ago Last lost no hitter

Not by one pitcher though, but the Angels lost a no hitter in interleague play 2 or 3 years ago. They pinch hit for Jered Weaver in like the 7th inning because they were down 1-0, and didn't allow a hit after he left.

2 years 46 weeks ago College coaches be crazy

Which makes me think again, why do some of these kids even bother going?

If I was a big time high school prospect, and I went anywhere in top ten rounds, I'd be gone. Some of these kids are turning down multi-million dollar signing bonuses, just to get a better deal in 2 years. Screw that, I'll take a million, put 100,000 locked away in some account to pay for college should I flame out, and not risk some college coach killing my arm with a 160 pitch game.

2 years 46 weeks ago Austin Wood says Jackson needs to grow a pair.

Heres the first google result on it.

Condensed version is Austin Wood, former Texas reliever and current Tiger's minor leaguer, came into a 2-2 game in the NCAA baseball regional, a day after pitching 2 innings in relief the previous day. He then proceeded to pitch 12.1 innings of no hit baseball, and finished with a line of 13 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 14 K's, and 4 BB. He threw 169 pitches! Just a sick performance, although it might have taken its toll on his arm, as he was on the DL last I saw.

Sort of a strange note, he actually relieved Chance Ruffin in that game, who went on to become the Tiger's second round pick this year. Tiger's love them some Longhorns, which is a pretty good place to get talent from. Now if they can somehow find a way to get Junjmann...

2 years 46 weeks ago Agreed

Lincecum has clean mechanics, just a strange delivery. It's mainly his size that worries people. It's the sole reason he went 10th in the draft, he had absolutely sick numbers coming out of college, 125.1 IP, 1.94 ERA, and 199 K's.

I read an article by one of the espn.com writers where he asked MLB GM's which young pitcher they would most like to build around, and Lincecum was tied for 9th, despite being the most accomplished pitcher out of all those eligible. There are GM's who still don't trust his size and mechanics, and his fastballs dropping velocity isn't doing anything to convince them they are wrong.

Here's the link for anyone interested. It's fairly interested for those interested in the future of young pitching. It was written before Strasburg was called up, which is why he doesn't show up.

2 years 46 weeks ago It's not a magical number necessarily

You just need to keep it within reason, and it depends a lot on the pitcher. A pitcher like Verlander or CC Sabbathia, who are tall, strong pitchers with clean mechanics can go 120 every so often and not be damaged by it. Someone like a Lincecum or Scherzer who are maybe a little smaller or have a more violent delivery, or even less developed arms like Porcello or Kershaw, shouldn't be putting that much strain on so early. There's also the matter of high stress situations, pitch types, theres a lot of factors that foul it up and make it incredibly inexact.

That being said, 150 pitches is stupid. I know he had a no hitter, but keeping someone in for 150 pitches is something that Dusty Baker would do.

2 years 46 weeks ago To be fair

Holland has an OK record in the draft. He gets the benefit of the doubt. Unlike his peer who drafted yesterday, who gets none of that when it comes to the draft.

2 years 47 weeks ago Another brilliant pick

Let's not pick any of the big guys still available who are proven shotblocker's and productive players at the level they played. Lets pick ANOTHER guard who is tall and has a bunch of talent, but has yet to do ANYTHING in college and even got worse his sophomore year.

2 years 47 weeks ago ...what?

Above average shooter and good rebounder? You are literally the first person I have heard say that. In fact I have heard him described by some as having a poor jumper and being a poor rebounder, even going so far to say as his rebounding numbers are awful for a projected center. He's unathletic, he takes plays off, and for being such a great passer with high basketball IQ, he turns the ball over A LOT.

Was he the best player available? Probably, which shows how god awful this draft is and why they should have lost more games or moved everything they could to trade up. Cousins was the absolute best case they could have ended up with here. Cousins can be a superstar, Monroe can't, and theres no chance cousins becomes mediocre. He either becomes amazing or completely flames out, which either gives the Pistons a superstar or gives them a chance to draft one.

2 years 47 weeks ago Wow

What the hell happened there?

2 years 47 weeks ago I was thinking it was the typical acting job

But the close up of his knee pushed that thought out of my head real quick. That was a real nasty cut, and I'd be surprised if he didn't need stitches for it.

2 years 47 weeks ago I'd rather have a headcase with Cousin's talent

Than a good guy with Ed Davis'. Cousin's is a man beast, he is possibly the best player in the draft, and he fits a glaring need on the Pistons. Do whatever you can to get him. This franchise isn't going to be rebuilt by playing it safe, they will have to take risks on players, and those players might as well be of the immensely talented variety.

Also, if there was a deal out there for the #4 and Al Jefferson in exchange for Tay and the #7, Joe would be insane not to take it. You have an overflow of wings on this team, you have no size, and you would be getting back an incredibly talented post presence, as well as moving up into the part of the draft that actually has players who might be All Stars. Jefferson plus any one of Demarcus Cousins, Wesley Johnson, or Derrick Favors is light years beyond Tayshaun and Ed Davis/Greg Monroe.

2 years 47 weeks ago He just came out with another

Pygmy was pretty good, definitely enjoyable, and a little funny that you can't buy it in China with the book being very centered on someone from a Communist government trying to live in a hyperbole of american culture.

He just put another book out, called Tell-All. I've yet to pick it up, and have no idea how its going to be.

I've got just about all of his books, and love them. Halfway through Invisible Monsters right now and then I'll have read all but his newest and Fight Club. His books are a little graphic at times, but they are very well written and always interested.

My favorite thus far has to be Survivor, although Rant and Lullaby were also excellent. Rant is a little bit of a tough read because of the style it is written in, but well worth reading 3 or 4 times.

2 years 47 weeks ago Likely call ups

Ryan Ketchner, Lefty Starter, Toledo  - 46.2 IP, 2.70 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 34/12 K/BB

Daniel Schlereth, Lefty Reliever, Toledo - 30.1 IP, 3.25 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, 41/26 K/BB

Andrew Oliver, Lefty Starter, Erie - 77.1 IP, 3.61 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 70/25 K/BB

Casey Fien, Righty Reliever, Toledo - 36.1 IP, 2.48 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 25/6 K/BB

Any starter they bring up would just fit into the rotation, any reliever would push one of either Bonine, Gonzalez, or Coke into the rotation. I'm not sure who I would prefer, I think Oliver and Schlereth are the only 2 with real futures in the Majors, but Schlereth needs to really work on his control and Oliver is in his first ever professional season. Fien and Ketchner are both only orginizational depth players, but they could certainly fill in nicely for a spell. It'd be interesting having Ketchner up, as he is nearly entirely deaf, and would be only the second deaf player to ever play in the show.

2 years 48 weeks ago He's incredibly impressive

baseball-reference.com has a feature where they compare a players stats to players who were at a similar age throughout history, and Miggy's list really shows how impressive he is. The list goes 10 deep, and Miggy's features Ken Griffey Jr., Hank Aaron, Orlando Cepeda, Frank Robinson, Mickey Mantle, Al Kaline, Joe Medwick, and Albert Pujols, all of which either are or will be Hall of Famers, as well as Hal Trosky and Andruw Jones, Trosky won't get into the hall, and Jones probably won't, but he can certainly make a case. The man is very good at hitting a baseball, and soon he will be involved in any discussion about who the best 1B of all time are.

2 years 49 weeks ago In concerns to wrestling

Nebraska is good. They are consistently a ranked team, and bring a few good athletes every year. They would have has 2 contenders for national tittles this year if Jordan Burroughs hadn't injured himself wrestling Michigan's own Dave Johnson. None of the Texas schools are a factor in wrestling, I honestly can't recall a single wrestler from any of the schools. Missouri is pretty good recently, they had an amazing team a few years back.

Okie State is the best of any team out there, but they probably aren't a real option.

2 years 50 weeks ago It is obvious what has happened here

In a Hangover type mix-up, someone tried to drug you, but was mistakenly given LSD instead of GHB, which he/she dropped into your drink in an effort to have their way with you. Obviously, you were at a sports bar, and had Michigan football on the mind, as most of us do, and the LSD combined with the deepest recesses of your brain to form this hallucination of a man who is a combination of all things you find horrible in sports fans. This is probably why he looked like a strange combination of Drew Sharp and Michael Rosenburg, with the voice of Rob Parker and Matt Millen's hair. It would also explain why he was drinking the blood of a freshly sacrificed virgin out of the skull of one of Alabama's 3rd string offensive lineman, who is getting a medical redshirt due to accidental decapitation in one of Nick Saban's famed "French Revolution" drills. I advise you get back home as soon as possible, and ignore the Morgan Trent like apparitions that appear before you on the walk home, all you need to do to make them go away is a stop and go route.

2 years 50 weeks ago I feel like

That wouldn't hurt all that much, just be kind of disgusting.

2 years 50 weeks ago No Oswalt

Too much risk, he's older, with and injury history, and bad numbers against the A.L. I would much rather go for Cliff Lee, who has shown he can be successful in the A.L, costs less in money, and is on a team who needs to move him much sooner. Oswalt is locked into a contract with the Astro's for this year and all of next, they can wait for a good deal, it's not like they are in a hurry. If Seattle doesn't move Lee, he leaves, and they maybe get a first rounder and a sandwich pick, depending on where he goes.

Look at the deal that brought Lee to the Mariners, Phillip Aumont was probably the big piece, is probably a bullpen pitcher who had 2 DL stints and never played above High A at the time, Tyson Gillies, another player who hadn't been above high-a, although he was performing veyr well, and J.C. Ramirez, another High-A player who posted a 5.1 ERA the year before. The Tiger's can match that package, they are loaded with power arms in the minors, and they have enough outfielders with promise to at least get Seattle to stay on the phone. Plus, Lee is a free agent at the end of the year, if the Tiger's don't want to pay him, they don't have to, they can offer him arbitration and get some of the value they traded for him back in the draft with at least a sandwich pick.
