That's basically what happens

That's basically what happens to B1G baseball every year; since it's "too cold" to play games up north of the mason-dixon (which is sometimes true, but often times not), B1G teams have ridiculously long road schedules so that people don't have to risk having a game where the whether might be less than 50 degrees. Southern teams don't want to see snow, ever, if possible.

If we look at college football for what it is, then it is entirely ridiculous to not have some cold weather games. First and foremost, I'm sure the NCAA recognizes the players than enter the NFL won't get the option of saying, "you know, maybe I WON'T play this week in New England. It's a little chilly." Second, for the 99% that won't make the NFL, you're just coddling them until they get into the real world and recognize there isn't a group of 60 year old white guys blowing their noses and putting up padding so they won't be exposed to anything too tough. These people play football! They can handle cold weather! If a B1G team is ranked #1, the #4 (or whoever) team should have to come to them! If they didn't want to have to play in the cold, they should have played better during the season.

Regardless of his intention...

...I agree this has to be considered a win for Brandon. He's too big a deal to have accidentally figured out a way for someone else to pay for the band flying to the Bama game. I have to give credit to a baseline level of intelligence based on the fact that he's, you know, at the top of the michigan athletic department.

Is he a ruthless enough individual for that to have been his plan the entire time? That's the real question, in my mind. I'll give him the benefit of a doubt, for now.

Three primetime games and one in nebraska?

Won't see me complaining. I'll see y'all in Lincoln...wearing Maize, of course. Football fans here in corn country are still smarting from last year. Hope you all make it out to the heartland. Husker fans' tears taste delicious.

More thoughts from a Nebraskan...

So it's impossible to say something about how expensive it will ultimately be at the Nebraska vs Michigan game in Lincoln, since we have no comparison. Some of the things said above are true. Since the stadium is smaller, everything ends up being more expensive. With this being the inaugural game (in Lincoln, at least), this will only compound this problem. Couple that with the fact that Nebraska sporting really has nothing else going for it (no professional teams, no other storied programs about) and you'll understand why coming to this game will cost some big time bucks.

There is the option of renting a house in Lincoln if you've got the people to do so. It will be much cheaper per person than getting a hotel (provided you've a big enough group), but it'll still be darn expensive and the options aren't many, so they'll probably fill up as the season approaches.

A BETTER option is likely staying in Omaha and renting some sort of transporation to the game. I've seen a variety of people band together to get a party bus for transportation too and from the stadium, and there are even some "tailgating packages" during the year.

As for tickets, the scalping market is very much alive and well. I don't think you'll be able to get a ticket for under $100, but if you're willing to risk the uncertainties of not arriving with a ticket, you'll almost certainly be able to get a ticket at half face value.

I'm in Omaha and looking for a way to get 12-20 of my Uof M buddies down here for a good, convenient time. If I make any headway into it I'll keep y'all updated as to the best way to prevent paying the big bucks to come to Nebraska of all places.

Ha, we're in 9th, only

Ha, we're in 9th, only 400,000 votes behind NCState.

Wouldn't the thrill of seeing

Wouldn't the thrill of seeing them come to Washington be tempered by the fact that someone is making them play a team from Washington?

At the 49ers stadium?

As a fellow Californian, the concept of that just made me wet myself. It'll never happen, but if it did, I'd be first in line.

I fully believe...

...there will come a day when we experience college football without whispering to ourselves how we are being ripped-off and marginalized to feed the wallets of the BCS/Big-Ten/etc etc fat cats. This will likely come after some sort of federal inquiry/corruption scandal/nuclear holocaust, but it's going to feel so good when it does.

If we're going to steal ideas from soccer...

...(which I can't fully support based on principle), let's take the Premier League rules on league qualification and drop the worst team from the league every year (Indiana) down to FCS and take the best team from the MAC.
