Is Braxton even projected to go early enough to make sense to leave early? ESPN (I know, not the most reliable) has him 116th overall, which puts him in the early 4th round. That should put him around a $500k signing bonus and a 4-year, $2.5 million deal. If he falls to the 7th round after returning, it's more like 4-year, $2.25 million salary and a $50k signing bonus. So really, he wouldn't be sacrificing much by returning, especially considering many deals in the 4th round and beyond are negotiated to pay the player significantly less if they aren't on the 53-man roster, which Braxton may not make unless he makes big strides in preseason workouts on his passing skills (or makes a position switch without the on-field looks Denard had at the end of last season).

Even with Georgia's injury issues, if Carlos Hyde can tear us apart, I fear for what Todd Gurley will do to our defense.

Remember when Dirk Koetter was all the rage after his stint at Boise? And Dan Hawkins? And Brent Pease was supposed to take all that Boise magic with him to Florida?
I'm going to let this one play out before I call it a home run hire.

It also depends on circumstances. For example, is this hypothetical 2014 Michigan football team 11-0 going into Columbus, or are they 7-4 again? If the question posed was "do you take the 2013 national championship in basketball or a win over OSU in 2006," that becomes much harder, in my opinion, because then that 2006 team plays for a national championship. The fact that we were 7-4 heading into the OSU game this year means that, sure, we ruin their season, but it doesn't make ours appreciably better when you look at the big picture.

ND - Going out on a limb and saying we win. Golson is back, but he wasn't great by any stretch last year, so I'm not convinced he's the solution. Plus they lose Tuitt and Nix with no apparent replacement.
Rutgers - This should be a win. They were a mediocre AAC team, so they should be a mediocre-at-best B1G team.
MSU - Sadly, we contine this awful stretch of losing. It's no longer a "let's spend 364 days gameplanning for this," it's just a team with a great defense and generally effective-enough offense. As long as Dantonio is there, winning in East Lansing isn't going to be easy.
Northwestern - Win. No more Kain Colter, and Siemian isn't the Unstoppable Throw God he was last year. Venric Mark returning is scary, but without a truly mobile QB he's not the same threat from the RB spot.
OSU - Loss. No more Hyde, but they're not exactly hurting for offensive playmakers, as it would be incredibly surprising to see Miller go to the NFL when he doesn't have a viable position. 11 games to get a new OL to gel, plus returning all that DL talent, and it's going to be tough to win in Columbus.

Not sure if London is gone - Virginia might not have the money to pay the buyout payments they still owe Al Groh and his staff, along with what they'll owe London and his staff.

A lot of teams jump a one loss OSU though. Including the MSU team that would beat OSU. Hell, there's a not-zero probability that, should things shake out in their favor, a one-loss MSU could play for a national championship. It'd require a lot of things to go exactly right for them (Baylor and OkSt each losing, Missouri losing to A&M, Alabama beating both Auburn and South Carolina, FSU losing to Florida and Duke, South Carolina beating Clemson, and maybe ASU beating Stanford in the P12 title game), but it's entirely possible.

I think you mean Alabama would win easily. They'd rather close up shop on all the other sports if it means maintaining the dynasty they have going on, and keeping Saban is priority #1 for that happening.

Yost isn't the OC at Mizzou anymore (he resigned at the end of last season). Plus he turned out to be not very good, and wasn't the OC when Chase Daniel was there (Dave Christensen was, and he's the HC at Wyoming now). If anything, Pinkel is the guy running the offense for the most part.

"Find me two teams more disappointing than Michigan and Northwestern this year. Or two teams even close to as disappointing as Michigan and Northwestern. And make them play a football game. And then watch it. Doesn’t sound like much fun, now, does it?"
They did this already, and called it "The World's Largest Outdoor Not-Cocktail Party." And lo, it was not a sight to behold, unless you like watching Todd Gurley slowly turn Florida's defense into a fine paste paired with otherwise total incompetence everywhere.

To be fair, that's the same number of people they'd have even without VCA being in use already.

I believe Pinkel does most of the offense at Missouri - at least they've been running the same style offense since Pinkel was hired in 2001, and has gone through Dave Christensen (who was with Pinkel as OC for an astounding 16 years!), David Yost, and now Josh Henson.

With the amount of money the program is raking in? Of course they could - if a school like Clemson can afford to keep Chad Morris on at $1.3 million a year, there's no reason why Michigan, with an operating budget much larger, can't similarly afford a top-tier OC.
Continuity is another question, but plenty of schools have handled coach/coordinator turnover without significant issues. Hire the position coaches in a smart manner and you have an easy pool of candidates already familiar with the system to plug and play.

The same overrated ND team that actually was competitive against MSU? A team from the same MAC that Akron is in? I'd gladly take the team from weeks 1 and 2 versus whatever the hell it is that exists currently. At least that team had some semblance of confidence.
|4 weeks 6 hours ago||Read the transcript of Hoke's||
Read the transcript of Hoke's press conference on the front page - it's like this coaching staff refuses to acknowledge what's wrong with the gameplan. Until they recognize their shortcomings and do something to actually attempt to fix them, this team isn't going anywhere or beating anybody.
Northwestern? Sure, they're 0-5, but I guarantee you Fitzgerald smells blood in the water with this program.
Iowa? They have a very good front 7, so hello another negative rushing performance.
OSU? Haha, no chance.
Bowl game? Depends against who, but with the Big Ten being bad overall, we'll get bumped up a spot or two above where we should be and will likely draw a team better than us. Plus, they'll get a month to prepare their defense to sit with 9 in the box because it's obvious we refuse to take advantage of defenses cheating against certain formations.

Sadly there really aren't any. Some people might say Fox & Hound in Ross Township (about 15 minutes north of downtown, so feasability depends on where in Pittsburgh you're staying), but in my experience, it's more of a generic "there are a lot of TVs so you'll be able to watch the game" sort of place rather than a true Michigan-friendly establishment. I believe it's where the Pittsburgh alumni group tends to meet at.
If it's too far out of the way for you, any sports bar (and there are many) should be okay with the OSU and PSU games being at noon and Pitt at 7, as only WVU will have any measurable demand for viewers at the same time slot.

I actually think Shafer was a good coach. Our D seemed to start games real well, but by the 5th or 6th time the offense went 3-and-out, they began to wear down. There was nothing anyone could do to make that defense anything other than statistically terrible.
