If Chattanooga Whiskey…

If Chattanooga Whiskey distributes in your area, I'd highly recommend you grab it. Not overhyped but they make some damn good stuff.

I'd say don't bother with…

I'd say don't bother with the 91 proof, just get the Cask 111. It's so much better.

Their rye whiskey is also quite good and not 'hot' instead it's a more balanced flavor with the heat of the rye balanced nicely by their high malting process.

Living in Chattanooga, I don…

Living in Chattanooga, I don't have to go far to get good bourbon. I don't bottle chase, and our local whiskey maker, Chattanooga Whiskey, has some fantastic stuff that isn't hard to find.

Their Cask 111 is some of the best young whiskey you can find and only $45 a bottle.

They also have a bottled in bond series that's even better and about $54 a bottle.

Their latest limited release is a 5 year bourbon that was aged with cacao, vanilla and cinnamon. Looking to grab a bottle of that soon. They really do great things and hope they expand to Michigan soon for y'all to enjoy.

I feel for my Nashville…

I feel for my Nashville friends today as its gonna ugly for y'all for a couple days.

Over here in Chattanooga it's supposed to stay above freezing today, high of 42, which is a good thing for me since we live 2/3rds of the way up a hill that is 250ft tall and if we ever get ice we're basically housebound until it melts.

100% this about winter. By…

100% this about winter. By late February it's more or less over and spring commences. But even dead of winter in Chattanooga is like prolonged fall football weather in Michigan. Lows in the 30s highs around 50.

In a word. Yes.

It's…

In a word. Yes.

It's basically a tropical climate from late May to mid September

Proximity to the mountains help because gaining a bit of elevation means it's usually cooler

This is exactly why I posted…

This is exactly why I posted about Chattanooga. I don't mind that people forget about it but it is a great place to live.

It's rapidly becoming more liberal, has the fastest internet in the USA, has a great climate, tons of amazing restaurants, 5 breweries and on and on...

Y'all are forgetting the one…

Y'all are forgetting the one city that's also pretty great in Tennessee, Chattanooga.

Been in Nooga for almost 3 years now after moving from Michigan. As others have side the weather is warmer, the people generally friendly and the housing more affordable.

If you're looking for smaller city with big city amenities look no further than Chattanooga or Knoxville. We choose Chattanooga for the more diverse labor market and wealth of outdoor activities.  It's not called the scenic city for nothing. Surrounded by mountains and rivers. Plus it's 90 minutes to Atlanta or 2 hours to Nashville. Our airport has direct flights back to Detroit for visiting and a pretty thriving downtown despite COVID.

If you're looking to move I'd say do it sooner than later as housing prices are rising because the secret is out and make sure if you can to tour the towns to get a feel for things.

As I live in Chattanooga it…

As I live in Chattanooga it's real easy to get good Bourbon in this part of the south. Heck Chattanooga has their own distillery. Chattanooga whiskey is pretty tasty actually and the price is great ~$30 for their 91 proof high malt stuff and ~$40 for the cask strength 111 proof.

I'm in the same boat…

I'm in the same boat. Thought they were just kids shows. Boy was I wrong! I'm 2/3rds of the way through Rebels now. Been fun seeing how they've continued storylines for Clone Wars, the original movies and even the Mandolorian.

At least Clone Wars season 7…

At least Clone Wars season 7 has been well worth the watch.

Plan is for Dark Subject…

Plan is for Dark Subject Matter(one of the best stouts I've ever had) and before that Double Archipelago DIPA, both from Monday Night Brewing based in Atlanta.

Frankly Baylor, PSU and MSU…

Frankly Baylor, PSU and MSU athletics shouldn't exist at this point given the depravity at all 3 schools.

Been there and done that. Not

Been there and done that. Not as fun as you would imagine, but should be done at least for a couple nights to say you've done it. They are really really close together and um, water echos. Lets leave it at that.

Was down there again in 2016 and stayed with a local in a mountainside bungalow overlooking the lagoon in Bora Bora. Much more peaceful and quiet, only $250USD a night vs 1000+ for an overwater.

Then went to Huahine(island just a stones throw from Bora Bora, arguably even more beautiful) and did a beachside bungalow with locals w/ meals for $190/night.

Realistically: Chattanooga

Realistically: Chattanooga Tennessee Fairly progressive southern town on the rise, surrounded by mountains and the Tennessee River cuts through town. Cost of living is cheap, weather is pretty reasonable. 2 hours to Nashville, 1.5 hours to Atlanta. Still a day's drive back to Michigan if I wanna catch a football game.

Fantasy land? Western Australia or French Polynesia. French Polynesia for the rugged, raw beauty of the islands, mountains coral reefs and lagoons. Western Australia same thing, just add desert, subtract lagoons.

I can barely watch this without wanting to primally scream out in rage.

Usually doesn't require surgery. He'll have repeated MRIs over the next couple weeks to see how it's progressing but he'll miss some time. Depends on how severe the injury was.

Yeah I mean he has the same Yeah I mean he has the same thoughts as I do. Also had a discussion with a neurosurgeon who had the same thought.
Rewatched that on slow mo and Double post
Rewatched that on slow mo and Rewatched that on slow mo and my trauma nurse brain is thinking the worse. 1.) Immediate loss of muscle tone below waist 2.) Could see him look down at his legs like he wanted to stand but couldn't. 3.) Probable burst fracture of lumbar vertebrae w/ spinal cord involvement And I've got years of experience with trauma. It's not a good prognosis.
So I'm not talking out of my So I'm not talking out of my ass. I work in trauma. I've written a diary entry about the Morris concussion years ago. Peters was in concussion protocol yesterday. He needs to be symptom free for 24 hours then be symptom free after exerting himself. He has about 40 hours to make it that far. That is just not realistic at this junction. Nor is it safe for his health.
As a medical professional As a medical professional being in the protocol means everything. It's not the coaches decision but the medical team. He's not going to play.
And this is why I'm literally

And this is why I'm literally going to run/hike 20+ miles in the woods in Northern Michigan with minimal cell coverage during the game. I'll set my DVR up so if we pull off a miracle I can watch it. Otherwise, I'm just not bothering this year. The board will go into a meltdown. Twitter and FB will be garbage. Better to be doing something I enjoy.

The bit about how little

The bit about how little offense we've recruited pre-Harbaugh is exactly what I've been saying to my fellow M fans but Brian said it way way better than I ever could.

If this offense can click this team will be hard to beat given our crazy defense. But I always viewed this year as a transition year on offense. Lots of new starters and young guys. For all the talk of Don Brown and his defensive crazyman schemes I think we forget how complex a fully operational Harbaugh offense is as well.

And we keep getting tantalizingly close. The 2 Isaac runs, our receivers having hands of stone on 3rd down etc.

I'm enjoying this season but look forward to 2018 when it's essentially fully Harbaugh recruited dudes and there will be 2 QBs pushing Speight hard.

You briefly mentioned the

You briefly mentioned the receiver drops. Each game has had at least 2 drops that I can recall offhand. That's a big reason for offensive stalls in all 3 games so far. Not to pick on a single player but Crawford especially seems to have hands of stone at times. He dropped a pass that basically hit him in between the numbers in this game. If we're gonna pass blame around some has to go on the WR's as well.

On my new Fusion Hybrid one option stands out to me.

The adaptive cruise control/semi-autonomous mode.

IT. IS. AMAZING.

It makes my morning commute 10,000x easier. It's hard to explain but I arrive less stressed. All I have to do steer and change lanes. Car does the rest including stopping and resuming speed again in heavy traffic. Makes highway cruising so much easier too. Cannot wait for more autonomous vehicle tech.

The added bonus of collison avoidance tech w/ the semi-autonomous mode is wicked cool too. It reminds you how slow human reactions are. Especially the first time the car slammed on the brakes to avoid a collision before I could even move my foot off the gas pedal. Freaky, but awesome.

Tim Brewster most recently

Tim Brewster most recently served as the head coach of the University of Minnesota from 2007 until he was fired midway through the [[2010 Minnesota Golden Gophers while coaching he managed to lose to Michigan with a backup QB and has been a TE coach basically all his coaching years. He is also older than coach Jim Haurbaugh but yet Jim has accomplished more and is an overall better coach. He also gets salty when Michigan fans tweet at him and has loose skin. While head coaching he is 0-2 in bowl and will never be a head coach again, the only reason he is still coaching is Jim bo fisher is his adopted dad and cried for it.

Ahhh yes by far my favorite

Ahhh yes by far my favorite rental was last year. Me and the girlfriend were on the south pacific island of Huahine. Infrastructure is severely limited but we wanted to explore this beautiful island that is more or less untouched by modern tourism. We were in a local fare(what we'd call a B&B in America) and asked about renting a car. They recommended what we came to call Slow Bessie. Max speed with the 2 of us on it was barely 25 mph. We had to walk it up some of the steep hills but the views and places it took us were incredible! And cheap to boot. 40 bucks US per day.

Not much of a fast car Not much of a fast car driver. My current ride is a 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium. It's decently quick for a hybrid and the torque from the electric motor makes passing on the freeway a simple affair. My slowest though was definitely my 1995 Ford Taurus. I swear that thing could barely get out of its own way..

Definitely best Star Wars Definitely best Star Wars movie since ESB. Loved the last ten minutes and the theater I was in erupted in applause at the end of the movie. Great flick with a much appreciated darker tone.
So glad to see him up and So glad to see him up and walking! However as a nurse I'd love to see that kinda hit/block made illegal. It's dangerous for legs and heads.

How far this program has come

How far this program has come in 2 years.

I'd call you a big fat liar if you would have told me then that in 2 years we'd be complaining that we let Sparty go full Joe Tiller on us late in the 4th quarter in EL and that we were the #2 team in the country.

Ultra runner here

This summer has been pretty brutal to train in with all the heat, but getting it done. Did 29 miler this past Saturday that got a bit ugly with the humidity.

August and September are my race months, Marquette 50k in August, Barkley Fall Classic "50K"(more like 60K) and Rock Creek Stump Jump 50K in September. Will really be a test to see if I can knock out two ultra races in 2 weeks which I've not done before and they're both mountainous difficult trail races. Should be good times.

Hopefully headed up north to train on the North Country trail around Mesick this weekend. Really hilly and really nice trail up there.

Devil Dancer from Founders. Devil Dancer from Founders. For my money Big South Fork National Recreation Area. I'm going back in 2 weeks. Absolutely stunning natural scenery, arches, natural bridges, canyons, and hoodoos formations. Same driving distance as the Smokys but absolutely zero crowds.
Today ends what was one of

Today ends what was one of the best and worst weeks of my job. One of those weeks where you get epic bad news followed by epic good news and it just did that ALL. WEEK. LONG. Hoping that since it's Friday it'll be a mellow day here. Seeing Capt America Civil War with the best friend, then drinking beer. 6 hours to go til I can leave.

Speaking medically 5th

Speaking medically 5th metacarpal/metatarsal fractures of the hand or the foot are usually long, surgically repaired nightmare recoveries. Our anatomy is such that we don't have great bloodflow around that area which can slow healing or lead to incomplete healing so risk of re-fracture is high. Definitely not an injury you mess around with. I hope Caris the best and hopefully he can recover enough to play a few years in the NBA. Poor damn Caris

I realize that, but I left

I realize that, but I left out the important part, she was the one that wanted to do most of these things and we had laid out the plan to do those things months in advance because it's a remote location and those day trips to other islands required advanced planning. Just getting anywhere down there requires a modicum of planning because there isn't much in the way of reliable transportation. In fact, she was the one that was wanted to travel to the South Pacific in the first place.

And I couldn't do things without her because "it was our honeymoon" and we had to spend it together no matter what. She went full control freak on me that week which she had never done before in our relationship. Without deep diving too much it marked a paradigm shift in our relationship and eventually would lead to our divorce because that control freak behavior morphed into full on emotional/mental abuse by her. So yeah, I'm still way salty about that trip and it was 5 years ago.

Honeymoon with now ex-wife,

Honeymoon with now ex-wife, we decided to cheap out on the wedding and blow the money on the honeymoon. Went to Bora Bora and Tahiti. Had everything planned out ahead of time, what we were going to do, exploring, hiking, snorkeling etc. We get there and she changes her tune, doesn't want to do anything. We ended up doing two things on our itinerary.... snorkeling with sharks and a massage.

We were supposed to do two day trips to two other islands island, never happened, we were supposed to go scuba diving at the entrance of the lagoon, didn't happen. Hike to various WW2 naval guns in the jungle, nope, hike to the highest accessible point on Bora Bora, NOPE. So basically we flew down to one of the most expensive, unique and beautiful places in the world and did....nothing for 8 days.

At the time it should have been a signal that she wasn't the one...still chaps my ass to this day and I'm saving money to go back next year and do all those things that I missed out on.

Quarterfinal games should be Quarterfinal games should be at the higher ranked teams home stadium. Semifinals can use the same format as now.
I'll channel Andy Staples a

I'll channel Andy Staples a bit and say it should be 8 teams. I look at that and as a fan salivate over some of those matchups.

1 Clemson vs 8 Notre Dame (First game was epic, 2nd game probably just as much)

2 Alabama vs 7 Ohio State (Saban's revenge??)

3 MSU vs 6 Stanford (beat each other with large rocks football, B1G vs Pac 12 tradition)

4 Oklahoma vs 5 Iowa (Air Raid vs Ferentz's pretty great secondary)

Of course with an 8 team playoff these ranking and teams may be a bit different but still. I really think some amazing games would ensue
