What a bizarre announcement. Grantland was a tremendous source of journalism and provided some fantastic content, especially since the ESPN channel has become borderline unwatachable.
This is obviously subjective to an extent, but if we're wondering if Miggy can be one of the best 3 hitters of all time, isn't Hank Aaron the wrong guy to compare him to? I think there's debate on whether Aaron is one of the top-10 hitters of all time, let alone top 3 (although he is defininitely the "Home Run King"). When top hitters come to mind, I'm thinking (not necessarily in order):
Ted Williams
Ty Cobb
Barry Bonds
Mickey Mantle
Babe Ruth
Joe DiMaggio
Lou Gehrig
Rogers Hornsby
Will Miggy land among the top-3 of those guys? He's got a ways to go, but man he has been good so far.
Am I the only one who thinks this wasn't that impressive of a move? If this takes the place of potentially trading up for Watkins or drafting Mike Evans, I think it's a mistake. He's 5'10 and played on the best team in the NFL. We need a bigger target opposite Calvin.

Whisenhunt should've held up a sign showing Stafford's numbers/QB rating over the last 2 seasons - would've flipped the whole "uncomfortable" feeling right around on Stafford.
Best of luck to him. Even being out, you can tell he is still a very important presence for the team on the sidelines.
Is he likely to come back next year? If he's told that he'll be drafted (say end of 1st/early 2nd), wouldn't you go if you were him? If he stays and has any more back issues, his dream of playing in the league might fade away.

This Auburn run seems too magical to end with a loss. FSU hasn't been in a close game all year - you can make the argument that Winston hasn't even been in a pressure situation yet in his career.
Again, this is all from a source who "is personal friends with JW" - but apparently after she found out that his actual girlfriend was coming to town the next day and knowing that he wanted her to lay low she decided to claim rape as a spur of the moment act of extreme anger. After she called the cops, she realized that it wasn't the best idea but didn't want to say she was lying, thus her saying that "someone" raped me (not specifically JW), and made up a height that wouldn't sound like his. These are all just rumors but this is the story I've heard that somewhat connects all of the dots.
From a guy who "knows Winston personally," I heard that him and the accuser were seeing eachother regularly (not dating, but hooking up) despite Winston having an actual girlfriend at the time. Supposedly his real girlfriend came to town the next day and the accuser (his hook up buddy) became enraged and led to these charges. Take it all with a grain of salt. Also, I'm yet to see it, but apparently there are several pictures from that night of Winston and the accuser on the dance floor basically all over eachother. We'll see how it plays out.

Also, competition does not necessarily make a paritcular unit better. There was competition for the 3 interior OL spots all year.
