I saw JT walking around campus about two weeks ago. I'm about 5'11" and he had me by a few inches...but he did look thin. Looks like the coaches are trying to keep him at cornerback weight as best as possible.
yes, but this would be a HUGE feather in RichRod's cap vis a vis recruiting for this and next year's class. this is a marquee game on par with playing in the national championship in most recruits' eyes (without actually needing to win to get there).
I heard yesterday that optimism is divine inspiration. I've always felt things will get better. We've had a lot of breaks not go our way, but we'll surprise plenty of people this year...even if for some of us it won't be much of a surprise.

first of all, i'm from michigan, not san francisco. I'm not some cali DB ripping on the great midwest. i went to michigan, graduated in '08, and try to consider myself a michigan homer but not a DB about it.
second, i really just rip on the izzo love, but it's all in fun. part of it of course is being motivated by my love for michigan and how i feel the residual effects of sparty's success will hurt us. the other part is because i, like you, find it just detestable when ANYONE says something good about Sparty.
in sum, i just wanted to clue this board into my radio show. i introduced it in a stupid, sensationalistic manner that was unwise, and i apologize for that. there's no touching the guy.

For what it's worth, Ohio State is out of the picture entirely. Jim Tressel said no more defensive backs in this class in a press conference, and OSU pulled his scholly offer according to other sources. Search Latwan Anderson on Twitter and you get the info.
My excitement aside, its not good that Tom hasn't gotten wind of this at all, since he's usually abreast of even the most minor mumblings.
And Coach Rod didn't seem to be leaving the door open for another player. Unless this was a super-secret recruitment of some sort, the whole shocking the world thing probably has more to do with involving M than actually picking them.
I say that with the heaviest heart—his commitment would make this probably the strongest defensive class since we signed Woodley et. al., or stronger.
Are we recruiting him as a tight end or as a strongside end? Or both? I can see him being the next TE behind Moore and Koger, but we can never have enough pass-rushing DEs.

This Johnson kid looks like a mean dude. That bump that laid out the receiver on the long pass stood out to me.
Ferocity and mental gamesmanship are great attributes in a defensive back, and things you can't coach necessarily. You could sometimes see Donovan Warren jawing at the wide receiver after the play was over. He was good enough to do it, but it was still a factor in his success.

I'd rather lose him now than lose him after we've already given up the time and the room in the class. If we thought he was in and then he didn't make the Clearinghouse, like what happened (I believe) with Spoon and Taylor Hill, and we'd lost out on Rashad Knight or some other guy waiting for his turn, we'd all be pissed rather than just a touch sorrowful.

Funny you should use the term "Hollywood". The ending with her throwing the guy and sniffing at the body as opposed to the original endings was done at the suggestion of Steven Spielberg, who I would say is normally a steady hand at these matters. In spite of that, I thought the ending was the only moment where the movie really cheated by using facial morphing special effects. It was a haunting image but out of place. Everything up to that point had relied on subtlety and tension, and noise.
I probably would have liked the one where she beats him with the camera since I think that was the point of the movie - the camera as like a corrosive influence on this situation.
Did you guys ever take Mark Kligerman's horror film class at Michigan? It was one of my favorite classes. Would have loved to hear Kligerman's thoughts on the movie.
Didn't Cissoko play most of his time in the nickel position last year? I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of him just because of MSU's current passing attack. Plus with Stevie Brown playing the hybrid that might give us the speed we're going to need to slow them down.
That said, we haven't gone to a lot of nickel looks this year, as per the UFRs.

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout. Brian's last column was the first one where I thought, no, that's excessively negative. Sure, our defense didn't step up, but they will. They'll win one game for us that our offense can't. And maybe it will be against Sparty, although I think the offense will rise to the challenge this week like they did against the Irish.
That's if Minor is healthy, which I hope to be the case by now. If he is, this is the game where he shows why he's All Big-Ten.

Tate looked like he wanted to tuck and run upfield with it after briefly faking pass, but then sensed he wouldn't make the endzone and, instead, get tackled on the field, so he bailed out to his left and tried to hit Savoy. The blocking also seemed to lean towards a draw, although if that were the case it's a miracle we didn't have an ineligible receiver downfield once Tate threw it. Or perhaps Tate was prematurely bailing on the pass call because of pressure from the blitz. Anyway, this could explain Savoy's complete surprise and lack of preparation for a throw. We'll see what Brian can deduce in the UFR.

I like this arrangement. I would only add that if there were divisions, the likelihood of a conference championship game would increase. In 2003, yes, there would be no title game. Michigan in this alternate Universe would be the Big Ten North winner, and Ohio State would be the Big Ten South winner. The Game's result decided the conference championship.
But how about years when the winner isn't either Mich or OSU (the matchup of which would have to be guaranteed, otherwise the Big Ten expansion would be horrible; I liked what one of the commenters said about how the SEC "guarantees" one rivalry game from an opponent in the other conference every year). Assume that the Big Ten divides North/South. This would mean, for example, that Mich and PSU play each other even less frequently than they do with rotating schedules, i.e. they play five division games, three across-conference games, and four ooc games. Therefore your example for 2004 (where Michigan and Iowa tied but Michigan beat Iowa so they are conference champions) would only determine the North conference champion
